So firstly the service was mid. I ordered a general tso chicken combo extra crispy. skin is soggy , but it does have flavor. I also ordered veg fried rice and only received onions and broccoli. One soy sauce for my entire meal smh. so I'm not sure what happened there . the ambiance was completely dead and I kinda know why. I used to come here a lot as a teenager food was made with love and extra flavor . Now it's sad seeing this place fall apart. This was in the scariest, grittiest location! There were cameras everywhere that were not being used and not even a place to sit down! And you order through taped plexiglass! I got it to go! The Mongolian beef was surprisingly flavorful but the soup which was a combo of Wonton and Egg Drop was weird...Is this a thing? Very typical strip-mall Chinese. It says "Chinese fast food," but it's not very fast. That's okay, I want them to take a little time to do it right. And they did okay. I had my usual baseline Chinese test items: crab Rangoon and Mongolian beef (well, okay, neither are really Chinese, in name or origin, but they give me some idea of how a place does things.) The Rangoons were frozen, but decent- cooked up fresh, with a few pieces of "krab" in them, not just cheese. The Mongolian beef was a very solid version- plenty of beef, decent quality, with lots of onions and green onions. The sauce was flavorful, not too salty, and just right for pouring on rice. I got fried rice, which turned out to be an oddity: yellow, but not really fried, and with just some onions and sprouts mixed in. Not a fan. The menu is the typical Chinese-American standards; I didn't see an "authentic" menu. For decent Chinese food, mainly to-go, this is a good neighborhood joint. Clean, comfy enough. Slightly brusque service, but they were busy with takeout orders. Flimsy forks, canned pop. Not worth much of a detour, but satisfying. read more

I ordered house fried rice last week. It was very good. So good I wanted more on Sunday. I picked up the phone to order and got a recording. Sorry we are closed on Sunday. Really ? Their menu says they are open till 10:30, so does the yelp page. If you are not going to be open PLEASE CHANGE THE HOURS ON YOUR MENU AT LEAST. We have had food here many times over the years however this was the first time that we got food different than what we ordered and the quality was nowhere near what it was before Covid the price went up because they said they needed To offset the higher cost of the ingredients but it's sad to say you raise the prices and the quality of the food goes down. Best Chinese food I've had in Columbus, by far. l've lived in Columbus for two years now and have given up my search for a good Chinese restaurant. Today, I got a craving and decided to try Ko sheng. I got the wonton soup, crab rangoon, and sesame chicken. The soup was the perfect amount of saltiness with no extra fillings like chicken or shrimp that l've seen at other places. The crab Rangoon was sweet and honestly made me want to devour all 4 in one sitting. The chicken was nice and tender. I saw a review for this restaurant on Yelp today and it intrigued me enough that I had to come down and try it. It's not really in Linden but I don't know what you'd call it; it's across Cleveland Avenue from Northern Lights shopping center. It looks like it might have been fast food at one time because of the booths. You order at the counter and the lady that waited on me told me it would be "five minutes." That must be a stock answer. ;) Anyway I ordered General Tso's chicken and it came with fried rice for $5. How's that for a price? And it was good!! As I've just moved from Los Angeles and absolutely detest what they believe to be "Chinese food" (basically the ready-to-serve stuff you get from a mall), I was feening' for some east coast Chinese food. A friend recommended this restaurant to me; it delivers my address, which is a definite plus. The woman I spoke to on the phone was polite, and double-checked everything I ordered. My food was delivered in about 30 minutes - the delivery guy was polite and pleasant. Due to comments I've seen in other reviews, I should probably mention that both of the people I spoke to were Asian - and English was not their first language. I expected this (who wouldn't?). But we communicated just fine. OK, the food. I ordered crab rangoon, spring rolls, and shrimp fried rice. Called them twice to place an order, no one answered either time. I came here and started to type up my one star review- but then they called me back! I ordered lo mein, sesame chicken, vegetable egg roll and crab ragoons. The lomein is great, ideal standard vegetable lo mein. The sesame chicken is fantastic! On point! Comes with fried rice too. Haven't had sesame chicken like that since I left New York! The fried rice that came with it was just fine, but it was a peculiar yellow. Like a Spanish saffron rice, but it tasted fine. The crab ragoons were meh, they felt like the wrapper was a bit undercooked. Not scary food poisoning type but like the dough wasn't the proper crispness and it was a bit doughier than it should have been. The vegetable egg roll was meh. It was ready within 15 minutes, the woman on the phone was plenty easy to understand. There were no condiments or menus to take on the counter, very minimalist. Everything came out to $18. The veggies were soft but had crunch still and good flavor. I ordere take out and my husband picked it up so I don't know what interior was like. Portions were huge! Went there to buy lo mein and it was so hot that the brown bag it was in was soaked and so the container fell through and the lo mein was all over my floor. I called them to inform them what happened and they said that they would replace it if I brought the lo mein that fell on the floor as proof... GROSS. Y'all, I didn't think there was a Chinese place in the Linden area that delivered. But being the stubborn woman I am, I looked and looked and looked online - and found Ko Sheng. They don't have much of a presence online, much less a full menu (I found appetizers on what passes for their website, I guess) but I decided on the standards most every Chinese place has - egg rolls, fried rice, low mein, sweet and sour chicken, and those delicious fried chicken wings. I ordered 2 each of those things, as I wasn't sure of their sizes (and honestly, my family can PUT AWAY some Chinese food!) and for 4 people it came to $45.05 - so around $12 per person (which is a far, far cry from the $60+ per person, whoever claimed that was smokin' something, jeez) , and that's really being generous. It was delivered in less than 45 minutes, and it was piping hot and the order was perfect - and yes, the sizes were huge! Very impressed with the quality AND the quantity. Even my picky eater that doesn't normally like Chinese food ate her portions, and actually commented how good it was. Wow! I especially noticed in our vegetable lo mein, the vegetables were recognizable and they had *CRUNCH*, something I feel is missing in a lot of dishes. In short, we will be ordering again. Tonight for the first time I ordered Mongolian beef. It should have been called Mongolian onions because that's all that was there. It literally had four pieces of meat. We placed an order, the person on the phone spoke poor English. When we received our $60 worth of food the whole order was messed up. When I tried calling back it took me two hours to get someone to answer the phone, when the person answered the phone the argued with me about what I ordered. She put someone on the phone that spoke better English and when I told him what our order was supposed to be he said that wasn't what was on the order receipt... We've been eating Ko Sheng for 18 years, and we keep coming back. I've tried other places in the city, and I'm usually disappointed by comparison. Ko Sheng's food is consistently solid, there's plenty of it, the prices are decent, and it tastes great. The restaurant definitely feels like a strip mall hole in the wall, but I'm there for take out, not atmosphere. Also, deliveries are always quick, and the service is always friendly. Keep a menu at home, makes it easier to order for pickup. read more
