Food and service are always amazing...definitely one of my favorite places in Burlington

Suprising find nestled in a strip mall along HWY 61. The "lips" are huge strips/tenders. The sauce is standard buffalo and you can request it to be on the side. The taste is superb. The cheese cubes were good as well. Everything was well cooked and delicious. Place seems to be designed for takeout but they do have generous seating. I went to Lips To Go with my boyfriend so that he could order 4 Lips and some seasoned waffle fries to-go. The wait was about 15 minutes for his food. The interior of the restaurant was interesting with a lot of chicken/rooster decor. It smelled like a frier inside. The staff was very friendly and nice. I want to like this, but there were just a few flaws that if different would make it better. Atmosphere/Cleanliness- The inside is okay, very basic and fairly clean when I went with my friends. The tables were also a bit sticky, but could have been from previous groups as seating is like a normal fast service place where you seat yourself and your own choosing. The restroom, which is part of the rest of the building, needed a little work, but it was a weekend, so probably hadn't had work yet for the day or weekend. Service- The service could have used some work as the two employees acted like I was pulling teeth when I came in with a few people for lunch on a Saturday about 1. The place was empty so could have just been timing and or a bad day. Food- The lip salad was very blah. A couple pieces of chicken with lip sauce and some very bland lettuce salad mix. I didn't expect a great deal of freshness, but tasted like salad you'd get at McDonald's. Also, the chicken was okay, but the breading/batter came off, not the best appearance or look for chicken like this. Price- Prices are okay. For what you get, not bad, but could be more. Been to the Chicks location in Macomb and it is more bang for your buck (granted it is nicer and more of a sitdown/bar setting). read more

This was not a good experience! My wife got 6 lips to go and I don't know what they have done, but from past experiences I don't think there were actually 3 total (old size) lips in the box. By number there were six in the box, but they were super thin and not very wide. At $3 a lip it was not worth the price. Looks like they have adopted shrink inflation in their lips. Expensive chicken tenders that weren't that great and not a single person, staff or customer was wearing a mask. I could get over that if they at least wore gloves in the kitchen. I had been looking for some good buffalo chicken in SE Iowa and I found it! 2 really good sized strips and perfectly cooked seasoned waffle fries filled me up and the heat level was just right on the chicken lips. Thought I would really like the lips. I was a bit disappointed. Being fried they were hot. Flavor and texture was OK, meat separates from the coating pretty easy. Sauce was pretty runny I would prefer less but had it thicker. Service was not that fast but they were busy with a lot of take our orders. You will know that you have found the place when you see a logo that has a chicken with a bandage over its "lips". This place specializes in large pieces of chicken that are breaded and then soaked in sauce and come with ranch or blue cheese dressing. The lip itself is quite large (especially when compared to other places serving boneless chicken) and it has some of the tastiest breading around that is then covered in buffalo sauce. The chicken 'lips' are about the length of my hand and half its width. Two is a lot .... one would have been just fine. Overall, it's a good strip with a very buttery buffalo sauce. Not very hot, however, I can definitely handle more spice than most. But $7 for two strips and fries (crinkles) seems a bit much for Burlington, Iowa. How this place is ranked number one in Burlington is beyond me. Yes, reasonably priced, easy to make food. My chicken strips were EXTREMELY overcooked. I could taste more grease than buffalo sauce. The sauce was alright. They also have messed up my order 2 out of 2 times that I've been. They also cater my suite at the Burlington bees games, (I don't pay for it) for which they are normally on time, but chicken never seems fresh. Lips to Go is always a place I love getting takeout from. We always order the chicken lips with lots of ranch. I've even went to get a tub of their ranch by itself for parties. The chicken lips are always cooked perfectly and smothered in the right amount of sauce. Dipped in their homemade ranch and you have a wonderful bite to eat! read more

Awesome food! Great service. Great for catering or even an individual lunch. I would recommend chicken lips with blue cheese.
