Long review incoming... I've only been shopping here for about a month, but overall the experience has been excellent. One thing that was initially a little confusing is the name. The physical store operates under one name, but online they're known as Unwind Bottle Shop, where you can purchase bottles online and pick them up in-store. Once you understand the connection, it's easy -- just something to be aware of as a first-time customer. From what I understand, the store has been under new ownership for the past two or three years. After reading some older negative reviews, I'd encourage people to give it another shot. Based on my experience, it feels like things have changed and improved under the current ownership. Their VIP program is what really sets them apart. It's free to join and operates on a points system -- you purchase bottles, earn points, and unlock additional benefits as you move up tiers. The big draw is that VIP members get opportunities to purchase highly allocated bottles at MSRP. That's rare, and all shops handle their allocations their own way. Yes, it's chance-based -- you're not going to walk in and just find unicorn bottles sitting on the shelf at a decent price or slightly marked up. But that's also what makes it fair. They give customers an actual shot instead of marking everything up to secondary pricing and waiting for someone to overpay. It feels like a thoughtful compromise that supports the whiskey community rather than exploits it. The owner (family-owned operation) seems genuinely passionate about whiskey. From my conversations with him, he clearly cares about the products he brings in and about serving enthusiasts. They're able to source rare and unique bottles at MSRP or just slightly above -- which is very reasonable considering how hard these bottles are to find elsewhere. They also run their own barrel program with store picks and seem very in tune with the grain-to-glass movement and rising craft distilleries. You'll find interesting, up-and-coming producers here -- not just the standard Jack Daniel's, Buffalo Trace, or Wild Turkey lineup you can get anywhere. My only real negatives: - The shop name vs. online branding can be confusing at first. - Some of the employees behind the counter didn't seem particularly engaged. On one visit, I was next in line for a pickup and was asked to step aside while they helped several other walk-in customers. It wasn't a huge issue, but as a new customer, it didn't feel like great service. - The parking lot is very tight, and on certain nights (possibly food truck or event nights next door), it can get pretty crowded. That said, those are relatively minor compared to the overall experience. If you're serious about whiskey -- especially rare bottles, store picks, and craft distilleries -- this is a very interesting and worthwhile shop to support. Being new to the bourbon world, I've been on the search for a good spot that carried a decent selection. Having explored different shops, I found this place on Instagram (Unwind Bottle Shop) and decided to check out the place. On first visit, it was a little tricky to find because they don't have a sign outside that says "Unwind Bottle Shop", just a generic food and liquor store sign. That was one negative... But despite that, I found the place, went inside and was surprised at the great selection they stocked. They carried some pretty sought after bottles which was impressive! This quickly became my go-to spot for reasonably priced whiskey as I work to expand my collection. One of the things I really like about this place is their frequent free tastings. It's a great way to explore different brands and find what I like without having to buy a whole bottle. This alone was how I learned more about what flavors I like and don't like in whiskey and burboun. In a recent tasting, they had Buffalo Trace products. I picked up a bottle of White Dog because it was a very unique flavor. I also picked up a bottle of Sagamore Rye Store pick based on a recommendation from the lady that worked there. I admit it was a blind buy, but wow I'm glad I grabbed a bottle because it was delicious! I liked it so much that I decided to sign up for their whiskey club so I can find other unique picks. Overall, I rate this place a 8.5 out of 10. The 1.5 loss is due to the challenge of finding the place on the first visit. It's my fault for thinking racism would take a Christmas break. My best friend and I were sharing our lonely Christmas Eve on the phone. She suggested we go out and get wine. She went to her local liquor store, and I decided on Bev-Mo since it was still open. To my surprise, on the way, I saw that this place was open. I frequent this place for alcohol, but mainly my swishers for my blunts. I pulled in, and I put on my blue mask just like I've done since 2020. The store had quite a few people inside, never the less with my best friend in my ear, I searched for wine. I was in the store for under five minutes when I was approached and told I needed to remove my mask. I was confused since I had never been told, like ever, that masks that one would use if they were immunocompromised could not be worn in the store. A quick look around and I noticed the lady behind the register not helping anyone but moving around to make sure I did not leave her sight. At first, I thought they thought I was too young to be in the store, and that's why I was wearing a mask. I explained to him I could show him my ID, but I declined the request because I do not have to remove my mask. I grabbed two bottles of StellaRoso and went to the front. There was a line because all three workers were watching me instead of helping others inside. That when I remembered that I was black and that the two owners that were up front watching me did not remember me. Once the line died down, I was rang up and I pulled out my ID and was told he didn't need it. I asked what was the reason I couldn't have my mask that I wear all the time when I shop at the store. I realized he was being racist and decided to take my black dollars elsewhere. But, because of the time I wasted, Bev-Mo was closed, and I went to Walgreens. I bought myself some $6 Snoopdog Wine, Martha Chards, and as I sip, I decided to write this review. Needless to say, I will not be shopping here anymore, and I guess racism doesn't take a Christmas break. read more

Second hand market prices on liquors! I came in around 10:30pm, they advertised that they closed at 11pm. Greeted the worker behind the counter and started to look at the selection. As I was looking, prices are not labeled so you have to ask the worker " how much is this?". When I was told a price, I was shocked at how much more it was. Almost 2-3 times the price. No wonder they don't put the prices on the bottles. I started to look around more, he tells me to hurry because they are closing. Really rude in my opinion so I just left. In and out in 5 minutes and won't be coming here again! No wonder Soo many negative reviews on here and Google. read more

New owners are great, and the store is family run. The employees have also been very helpful. I am from out of state and can say it's nice to see some more challenging allocated items on the shelf. They create bundles and do things like mystery bags to make allocated bottles available. They don't hoard or price allocated items at secondary market prices. This is the type of small business that is worth supporting. read more

I just had the most horrible experience here. My two daughters and I just got yelled at by the owner. I bought something and then my kids seen pop it's they were excited and had their wallets in the car so I went to the car to put my purchase away and they got their wallets. We went back and my kids were looking. He yelled at me asking me if I was going to buy. I said yes but to let any other customers go ahead of me. He said no and yelled at us to leave. Crazy expierence. I've never been treated like that. read more

This is a standard liquor store full of beer, sodas, chips, and lottery items. They have a small selection of scratchers. The staff is really nice but the parking lot is really small. There are only a few spots in front of the store. During busy rush hour times, the lot can fill up and the traffic on California is heavy. read more

Racist store owner (or worker, older man in his 60s). Waited patiently for a few minutes while he was on the phone to get served - he didn't acknowledge my presence, but I didn't interrupt. When he was done, politely asked for cigarettes a lighter, and in an attempt to make light hearted conversation asked "is there anything else that you think I should get?" After purchasing my items, I unwrap the cigarette plastic paper, and absent minded, I left it on the counter. I was about to turn around when I realized I had done that when he said"this is America, not Africa there are rubbish bins all around". I told him that wasn't necessary, threw the paper in the rubbish, and walked out when he refused to apologize. While I realize I should have been more conscientious and was disturbed and pre-occupied by his earlier behavior, there is never an excuse for racism. You can be annoyed without being racist. read more

The neighborhood liquor store for me....Nearby, open til 1am, decent prices, check cashing, and the place is clean! They keep most of the crazy homeless away, which is great, and there's a great Taco Truck in the lot behind the store! I'm there everyday............ read more

I think this was U save liquor back in the day. Was eating nearby and needed a quick beverage. Got a sparkling Jarritos mineral water. Guy working seemed suspect of me some reason as i kept getting the stink. Got my drink and got the hell outta there read more

Our local liquor store. The gentlemen who work here are always very nice. Prices are fine. Comparable. Sometimes items will be a tad more than at Safeway, but it is worth paying a little more for the convenience if you don't wanna shlub over to the Safeway and deal with parking and the extra time it will take. They have a good selection of booze. The selection of snacks is comparable to that of a large gas station. I don't believe they have any prepared foods- such as sandwiches or salads. There are a couple taco trucks and a Hungarian cake truck around at night. THey are all really yummy. Parking is okay. SOme spots at the front and to the side. PARKING CAN BE DIFFICULT WHILE THE FOOD TRUCK IS PARKED OUT FRONT. They take up just enough space that you may or may not be able to get your car through to exit. My only real complaint. read more
