What a fantastic find! Stumbled across this spot on the socials. And the algorithm has rarely come in so clutch! As an admitted IPA Sheep, I'm always on the lookout for bottle shops that provide not only top notch quality brews, but probably more importantly around here, FRESH brews. And Giants nails both! Plenty of local bottle shops offer high end local and California beers, but Giants takes it to the next level and has plentiful of Midwest and East Coast beers as well. As a bonus, they don't look at you sideways when you ask for a single if you don't wanna commit to a 4 pack of beers you've never tried. Big ups for that! But perhaps most impressively, I bought 5 cans my first visit there. 4 of the 5 from the NY area, and ALL had been brewed within the month of my purchase. 2 had been brewed the previous week! Good luck finding that anywhere else on the Peninsula/South Bay! Had a good chat with Raj while I was there. Took the time to answer a few questions, and explained how they go about keeping things so fresh and plentiful. His passion for beer was obvious. They got a new customer in me! read more

This little store has the biggest refrigerated drink case I've ever seen outside a supermarket. They have 17 cases (they're literally numbered), so you can find what you need better. They have beer! All the big brands, plus several of the 17 cases of craft beers. (see pic). They have soda. Think, all the majors. They have energy drinks. Rows of rows of different energy drinks. Lots of sports drinks. Lots of water. And tea! We love Arizona iced tea, and they have a lot. In this picture, there are several flavors I haven't seen anywhere else. Believe me, I've looked since I discovered them and haven't found them in grocery stores or gas stations or walgreens or anywhere! So now I drive here when I have a crave. It's right next store to La Costena, my fav burrito shop. A couple other cool restos in this strip mall too. New owners a couple years ago keep this place friendly, clean, and well lit. Giants Liquor has a basic selection of wines and spirits, as well as random groceries (e.g., ice cream, lemons, and cocktail mixers). Located between 7-11 and Rotten Robbie, it is many times hard to find reason to stop at Giants Liquor. The staff knows their stuff, but the customer service can definitely be improved. I felt completely ignored while the staff are just talking to themselves. No greetings when I walked in and no thanks or come again when I bought something and walked out. I walked in here today to have my winning lottery tickets redeemed. The Asian lady was in the middle of bickering with the driver delivering his rounds of beer to the store. The lady then looks at me and rudely says, "What do you want?" Hello I'm a hard-working customer here and your business it to serve customers so serve me- don't treat me like I have no education. I've never been in this store before and I overlooked the scanner for lottery tickets that tell you if you've won or not. She then rudely tells me to use the scanner. I was in the taco shop next door and needed energy drink (s) and lo and behold there's a liquor store right next door!!! The owner took the time to talk to me about almost everything they had, even telling me their countries of origin. He told me some of the beers they imported they weren't going to be making profit on because of how much it cost to bring over from even as far as Sweden! This is a small neighborhood liquor store. The selection is decent-it's no bev mo but it has pretty much everything I'd be interested in drinking. Not a terribly deep selection however. The craft beer section and higher end liquor options are decent, but be prepared for a severe mark up on pricing for those items. Ditto for those little airline type bottles-5.99 for one of those grey goose seems excessive. On the other hand pricing for your mass market brands is pretty good.A half rack of coors or blue moon can be had for less then ten bucks. Didn't have any issues with the service. The lady behind the counter isn't into small talk, sure enough, but an all business focus is fine with me. There's your usual range of local beer store accessories, charcoal, soft drinks, beef jerky, chips, and.....................ice cream? The two coolers of ice cream novelties struck me as odd, but ya know if I had a dollar for every bizarre thing I've discovered in small local bottle shops I'd be a millionaire. Last time, it was New Belgium + Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale and a bag of Cheesy Puffs. The craft beers seemed overpriced. The time before, to add insult to injury, the overpriced 6 pack was expired. If my friend didn't live nearby, I wouldn't make a trip here for the overpriced beer. read more

So yes, a liquor store? More like a convenience store with liquor. Not the most choices in junk food, if you're into that, but they do have some. And also a convenient location for me. I decided to check out the place before one of the December holidays while I was walking to coffee at Clock Tower right across the way. I thought I was going to go all the way to the 7-Eleven on Whisman, but thought I might as well stop in here. I had good service at the counter, despite the rather scary customer ahead of me in line. Not the cheapest place either, if you're looking for deals. They didn't have Coke Zero(tm), but I was good with regular Coke for the holidays along with a flavor of Doritos(tm) I had never tried. If I can get over my fear of scary customers ahead of me in line at such establishments, perhaps I'll go back at some point. read more
