Oh man, I don't know why I haven't been in here before. I came looking for something specific that's a little hard to find and ended up finding that and some other nice surprises. I was super excited to see Foxon Park Thimble Island Brewery hard sodas all the way in Simsbury! I've been wanting to pick some up in the Branford/ East Haven area but it's such a long drive and package stores sell out fast. Also found the Smash on the Beach drinks I was looking for, hard Sunny D, and New England blueberry cider which is also hard to find sometimes. I'm not a heavy drinker but I felt like a kid in a candy store lol. read more

What I took away from Liquor Depot (besides the bottles I lawfully purchases) was the memory of all their displays. It made it a fun shopping experience, how often does one see an Absolut bottle filled with basketballs? They have a good selection of Connecticut beer, and gift bags stationed nearby for an easy to assemble gift for the beer drinker in your life. I wasn't overly impressed by the prices, but the employees at checkout were perfectly polite. There is a parking lot near the entrance of the store, and handicapped parking right by the door. I would love to know how to get out to the light at the nearby car wash, otherwise the most accessible exits may have you waiting a decent amount of time (depending on the time of day) to turn left onto 202. read more

Liquor depot has a special place in my heart for their rare once a year release if their very own barrel of blantons, and they bundle it with full size 750ml bottles of rye for a gift for $150!!! I really hope they continue it do these specials- it'll keep me coming back that's for sure. Also solid selection of Orrin Swift and prisoner wines. read more

Possibly the closest liquor store to where I live. Happily, they almost always have what we want at a good price. They have a vast beer selection, and have a nice practice of selling quite a bit of different individual beers both refrigerated or not. Today I picked up a single bottle of Pranqster, a Belgian Golden Ale that intrigued me. We specifically came in today to see if they carried a new line of Hard Cider by the good beermakers at Stella Artois. We looked somewhere else last week and didn't find it. We looked here and found it right away. Its a big comfy well lit store. Very spacious without the cramped clogged aisles you see in some liquor stores. People are friendly here, and you can score the occasional beer or wine tasting if you hit it on the right night. We are very happy with what we call "our liquor store". read more

Apparently, this store believes the mask mandate is a joke. I witnessed a man walking around the store without a mask and then paying for his purchase, still without a mask. At risk of being a busybody, I stepped up (within a safe distance) and asked the cashier why he was serving the man who wouldn't wear a mask (no medical disability stated). He replied it was out of his control to ask customers to wear masks. I repeated my question to the store manager, who claimed to be equally ineffective in reinforcing such policies. If you believe in the right to pass on wearing a mask, this is the store for you. But... not for me, thanks. Never again. read more

I am from Scotland (United Kingdom), I am 24 and live and work in CT. I have purchased alcohol from The Liquor Depot before with a manager always double checking my UK drivers license since it is unfamiliar to the till attendant. This time, the till attendant went away to double check with the manager, she returned, apologized and said the manager said she could not serve me. I then asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over and when asked why I could not buy alcohol, replied "I haven't seen this type of license before, I'm not selling you anything". I questioned this again and was told "I don't sell if it's a license I don't recognize, I refused to serve someone from Texas last week because I haven't seen a Texas license before." We commented that this probably wasn't company policy and doesn't seem a great way to conduct business. As me and my friend walked out of the shop the manager followed us out of the shop and stared at us as we got into the car (which I was able to rent with my UK driver's license) and drove away. Not particularly bothered about not being sold alcohol, we drove somewhere else 5 minutes away to buy some - the attitude of the manager was disgraceful and safe to say I will not be returning to The Liquor Depot again. read more

Very good place to get beer, liquor or wine. They have a large selection of regular and craft beer, all types of wine, and a full aisle of liquor. The staff is always pretty helpful. You can make your own six packs here too which is a plus. read more

overall the beer selection was OK, not completely over the top but better than most smaller stores - lots of stuff you expect to see and sadly the "gluten free beer" section was 2/3 hard cider - which is not beer and made me sad. read more

I give this store zero stars!!! First off they will not serve to older people if they dont have ID and are nit driving this is stupid unlessthat older person (obviously of age has a rare Benjamin Button disorder) stupid clearly they can drink. As well as when, i, myself went in. I am 28 years if age was not driving and walked in looking for someone to help me find something, there was NO ONE then the manager walked in with his creepy hair and glasses and I ask him if anyone can help me, he immediately says to me, you are so drunk I'm calling the cops....ummm wow dude you've never seen me and I was SOBER thank you have lost half of all your business ass!!! Place should be shut down just because everyone is rude and miserable!!!! read more

Although I do not go here to purchase alcohol, I am there quite often to deliver ice. More times than not, I am greeted by an employee with a negative look on his/her face who seems to not be enjoying his/her job. Whether the employees do not enjoy their job or not is something I do not know for sure, but their negative and angry emotions should be portrayed onto the customers. When asked to simply open up the back door, so the company I work for can bring the ice in, the employees of liquor depot make it seem like a very big hassle. One time, the manager opened up the door for us and continued to stare at my brother and I as we loaded ice onto a dolly with a disgusted look on his face. He then questioned how much ice we gave them, seeming like he believed we were lying to him. Once I am of age, I will be sure to not give my business to them and for those of age, I would not recommend this liquor store. read more

Prices have been going up steadily and no longer better prices. Some of the managers are rude and not appreciative of long time loyal customers - they don't know their customers. read more
