Dr. Hopkins has been my optometrist for many years now and I love being her patient. This review is about my recent experience with Jim Scull, who handles the eyewear for Hopkins. I love my pair of frames that I had purchased long ago there but broke one of the arms or "temple tips" so I went in to see Jim about ordering a replacement part. Unfortunately, the manufacturer discontinued the frame and purchasing a new frame would be expensive. "Not to fret!", said Jim confidently as he logged onto eBay and quickly identified a slightly used frame for sale at a fraction of what new frames would cost. Within a couple of days I received the eBay frames and Jim used the arm to repair my glasses at no charge! Now, that's great service and I think you will also get great service from Jim. read more

I brought my wife to this office since we were patients before. We were very reluctant when we heard that they did not take any responsibility for lab work and if glasses are lost or danaged in transport. They dod not allow us to insure our glasses either. My wife waited for weeks on these glasses and I picked them up with crooked frame so we came today for adjustment. Unfortunatelly I had to look for a restroom elsewhere because I was previously told that they did not have any and was unable to help my wife today. Here is her story. First Jim Skull broke my new frames and when I asked him what to do with the new useless frames now and the new lenses that the office had lab put in them Jim threatened to call police. Receptionist Kim on my suggestion called Dr. Hopkins who would not come out to inspect the frames and hid inside sending her helper Aileen instead. Aileen inspected both pairs of glasses and promissed to ask Dr. Hopkins to call me. No calls and no reimbursement yet. This pair of broken glasses cost over $600. It is a new prescription that I will not be able to use for another two years due to insurance company limit. But the worst part is a very ugly and sickening behaviour by Jim Scull who broke my frames. I brought in the new glasses for behind-ears adjustment. Jim pulled the arms appart and broke the frame. Firstly Jim accused me that I broke them although everyone in the office saw him break them and still had them in his hands. Then he accused me that it is my old pair of glasses although the old frame is different size, clearly worn and has different dioptry. When I asked to show broken eyeglasses to Lisa Hopkins he claimed that she is with the patient and that he is the boss and will call the police. When I said that I will contact the insurance company he said that they will not do anything either. We are an elderly frail couple and we were afraid for our lives. read more

This was my first time at this office and I have to say, Dr. Hopkins and the whole staff were incredible! The staff was prompt and welcoming when I walked in, invited me to look at frames before my exam. I have totally been upsold frames when I didn't even need a prescription in the past (just reading glasses/blue light). They did not encourage me to buy anything, and I didn't need a prescription. I have to admit, though, their frames were so great that I was tempted to buy a pair just for reading glasses! The doctor herself was informative and made an effort to get to know my needs. Terrible ... the lenses she created for me were upside down. She used my insurance but then, created these really weird glasses ... I went back & she just said "Oh well, these are designer frames". Now I can't even see to drive. I'm going to Costco ... maybe I can take Uber. This photo is me without glasses ... so now that I was ripped off by this lady, I wonder how I can see to get to Costco? She said that there could be no refund, because "these were designer glasses". Uhh designer glasses or designer frames? I've been a patient of Dr. Hopkins for years and have had nothing but great experiences. I first came here years ago with a prescription I had got for free from Kaiser (big mistake) which they filled for me. The prescription ended up being wrong, so Dr. Hopkins took a long time getting my script right and redid the lenses for me free of charge. Since then I've never trusted my glasses prescription to anyone else. Jim is also very helpful and has fixed some glasses I have broken. I learned the hard way that I should listen to his recommendations for my glasses when I denied the anti-glare feature and was blinded by oncoming headlights. I took the glasses back and they were able to send them back out for the anti glare coating. Bottom line: take your time w/ your exam and get the right prescription and get the features Jim tells you to get. read more

There's nothing better than liking your health care professionals and it can really suck to have to pick one out of literally hundreds you don't know. Thank god for yelp, right? Dr. Hopkins was a lucky one of the draw for me years ago. I've been seeing her now for some time and really like her. She's always nice, professional and will chat with you in a way that makes you feel present to her... if that makes any sense. I'm also partial to female doctors and really like that she's younger and not a million years old practicing old school stuff. Her staff is also very friendly. The office is neat and clean, and quite stylish. I sometimes feel like the selection of sunglasses is kind of limited, but I know they change them out, have catalogues and aren't a big office, so you take it as it comes you know? I love that I can always go in any time to get my glasses or sunglasses readjusted. There can be some pricey pieces depending on your insurance coverage, so anticipate for the most part to drop at least a couple hundred on some flashy eyewear, but of course I feel it's totally worth it. Dr. Hopkins once told me of a client she had who had some stuff going on... weird stuff. She suspected a tumor, sent him to a doctor and sure enough, she was right. Saved his life. I usually get my eye exam and glasses from Costco but I decided to get get an exam and pair of glasses from this office because I liked their frames and was willing to spend a little more. The office is close to my house and I was working from home so I came in for my exam wearing my "office glasses". When I picked up my new glasses a week later I couldn't read the street signs on the other side of 2nd St. I told the guy giving me the glasses I couldn't see distance in these glasses he insisted they were right and I just needed to get used to them. Like a moron I took them home to see if he was right. He wasn't. I went back to get a new exam but the same guy thought the prescription was correct but something else was off so he ordered new lenses. A week later I went in, same result. This time I brought my old Costco prescription. He looked at it and said "this is wrong!" I think what happened is he took the prescription from the office lenses I originally wore in and made the new lenses match. Eventually I ended up with the glasses I wanted with lenses that actually worked outside the office. The whole experience was bizarre I thought but I give them credit for eventually fixing the issue and they do have some nice frames. read more

Called needing to see a doctor quickly as I was having an issue with my eyes and she informed me although they have no openings for awhile she would see me that day because I was in pain. That shows a lot about a company, when they truly care about Thier patients (this was my first time here). I had such a great experience finding a new pair of frames. Jim's customer service was above and beyond and far exceeded my expectations. He put a "hot rush" on my glasses after I had lost mine. He stayed late after they closed because I couldn't get there in time to do a pupil measurement. He kept me updated throughout the entire process and really made a great impression on me. I have to start by saying that Dr. Hopkins is absolutely wonderful. She was very personable, took her time to clearly explain my eye health to me, and did an excellent job. Unfortunately, my experience with the rest of the staff left something to be desired. While the staff was always courteous, it always seemed like there was an air of uncertainty and confusion in the office. I was given 2-week lenses and once the 2 weeks were up, I still hadn't received a call that my new contacts were ready. I called the office, explained that my lenses were too old for me to be wearing and the man told me to call back next week. I kept wearing my lenses days past their expiration. I called again on Monday afternoon, and luckily this time, a different receptionist offered me another pair of sample lenses so I wouldn't be wearing old contacts while waiting for my new ones. She said she had my prescription and that I could come get them. I go to pick up the lenses and neither one of the lenses is my correct prescription. One was a +5, when my prescription is -5. I know honest mistakes happen, but I think when dealing with medical issues there really needs to be more attention paid to detail. She said it would be fine to wear 2 lenses that weren't my correct prescription (a full number below what I'm prescribed), but I didn't feel comfortable with that advice, so I never tried them. The next day my lenses are finally ready, I go to pick them up and they tell me I have a balance owed. Except I didn't have a balance owed, since I'd already paid for the exam and lenses. Another receptionist calls me later, asking me to pay, when I explain I already have. She asks me to send her the receipts, which I did, and now I haven't heard anything days later. Perhaps a "Sorry about the mistake" or "Yes, we confirm we've received your payment." Im super disappointed with my experiences with the administrative staff at Dr. Hopkins, so I won't be returning, but I do appreciate the stellar service Dr. Hopkins gave me. read more

All in all, they were helpful even though it may have not been entirely their fault that my glasses were not made to the correct specification. I recently visited Dr. Hopkins' office for the first optometrist appointment in my life - and came away pleased. The office is small and located on 2nd Street in Naples. I had an afternoon appointment was able to park on the street directly in front of the office. Once inside the cozy office, filling out the paperwork was hassle free. Dr. Hopkins gave me a thorough check-up and had state of the art equipment. I was warned by friends about a glaucoma test that uses a blast of air into each eye, but Hopkins uses a newer method that isn't as traumatic to the patient. I got out pretty cheap: a $25 copay for the visit and a $10 share for my reading glasses. The frame selection for men is small, but stylish, and I came away pleased with the ones I selected. All in all, it was a great experience for my first optometry visit and first pair of glasses. Dr. Hopkins was both professional and personable. read more

Had a terrible experience multiple times with this office on different aspects of their service. I'm too nice, I would normally give the benefit of the doubt that someone had a bad day here. But this was too much. 1. Staff Etiquette A. RIGHT in front of me as I was sitting down to try contacts for the first time, two of the ladies lamented having to help me to each other in the rudest exchange I've ever experience in a doctor's office. Seriously? You're annoyed you have to help me learn about your product? Talk about it later or get a different job. Now you've made your customer feel ashamed and embarrassed. That's a no-no. The lady was also very impatient when reaching me to use the contacts. The doctor herself was much nicer. B. They seemed a little annoyed I was going to a different shop to buy my glasses. I wanted to support my friends business, but you know what? It's not like it's appropriate to treat a customer differently because of this anyways. 2. Quality of Work A. I came in a week or two after my contacts were ready and right before handing them over, they said that actually the wrong prescription had been ordered and that they'll need to reorder. So I was sent away with nothing. B. With my new prescription, I also got some new eyeglasses made at a friend's glasses shop(DIFF BUSINESS), but when I got them, something felt wrong. That shop's team is super nice. They saw my face drop as I tried to get used to the glasses because they knew something was off. My eyes kind of hurt. They told me to try them for a day. Got a massive headache and had to leave work. Came in again the next day and they adjusted them. They're all better now! They said that the doctor or staff here measured my eyes wrong (I don't understand the exact industry jargon) but they were confused how this could happen coming from an optometrist office. I came in and tried to work it out, and the lady who helped was rude once again. Offended they suggested she did her job wrong. But my eyes hurt! I left, and in the end, my friends still had to fix the glasses when I returned to that shop. 3. Phone Customer Service When calling in to pick up my contacts my final time, they confirmed my first name as a different one. I was confused how this would happen and said my actual name was different. The lady on the phone just replied "YEAH." with the rude sass you wouldn't even get from a teenager at a fast food restaurant. Almost like "YEAH. That's what I SAID." Ok, no, lady, it isn't. I know my hecking first name; and you did NOT say it. I'm a sweet girl and always try to make small talk, compliment the shop, and be bubbly and have a smile on my face. Sometimes it just doesn't work out for me and people will treat you like dirt no matter your efforts. My take on this shop is that maybe there's a bad egg in the staff that just seems entitled somehow. The dr herself was super nice and sweet and helpful. The staff could use some etiquette training in addition to some job training. Not everyone I interacted with was rude, really only one person. Maybe two or three depending on who I talked to on the phone. My interactions were many, spanned over a few weeks, so no one was just having a bad day. I tried to be as overly nice as possible and never be rude, so by logic I guess it's just bad service. read more
