Parking- Street Parking either metered or in the residential neighborhood. The blocks are short so it will not be a long walk. The staff and the Doctor are wonderful. I absolutely love the selection of glasses here. The people I have worked with have all been incredibly helpful and they explain everything in terms of options and your insurance benefits very well. I have gotten 2 pairs of glasses for my son and one pair for myself. They don't give you a hard time if you need to use your "warranty" and they are always willing to make adjustments if you need them. I go very far out of my to come here but it's worth it. read more

I went to get my eyes checked cause I been noticing a difference in my eyesight. I forgot to tell the doctor that I got a photography flash go next to my left eye when doing a wedding makeup (the photographer didn't warned me that he was going to do that and I couldn't see well for a few days after but I thought it would go away). I was extremely nervous, I haven't had good experiences with doctors in US, I used to travel to Argentina to see my doctors lol. My godfather was an optometrist. The doctor was great, very nice, professional, understood me and gave me great directions. I did a check up on my vision, need glasses for computer use. Also, did a contact lense measurements. She gave me a pair to try. My left eye bother me after a few hours, couldn't use the whole day as I use to wear (same brand I use in the past). For me is good to have the measurements for my job cause if a model drops the last minute and she has a specific eye color requested by the client, they use me lol (which happened before). I prefer to be behind the camera tho lol. Also, the sweetest thing-literally- was that I got a cupcake certificate cause my birthday was a few days after my appointment. I thought that was cool!!! Another cool thing they do is texting to remind you about appointments. I can't answer my phone while on set, is always on silent. So it was great because my hours are wild (I have work a 16 hour shift when the rest of the crew does 12, due to me setting up the decor, usually I am place in a rental place and get driven for safety). Sometimes when I am off work it's too late for me to call back as well, they made it convenient!!! This place rocks, highly recommended!!! read more

I've been coming here since my initial review. Admin faces may have changed over the years, but their customer centered service remains just as fantastic. Their selection of frames are fashion forward, and if there is something you're eyeing that you can't seem to find here - they will work with you to see if it can be ordered. They provide reasonable accommodations to make things simple - like helping make eye contact reorders over the phone and researching available rebates. Last but not least, Dr. Chiao is wonderful! My boyfriend got his sunglasses bent severely and didn't have much hope- the store we got it from deemed them irreparable. This was a blow considering I ordered them custom for him as an anniversary gift. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We walked in with low expectations, knowing we might get turned away. Sarah came over to help us and took a look at the sunglasses and decided to try and fix them. She did warn us that due to how bent the sunglasses were, there may be a chance that they could snap. We took the risk and let her work on them. The whole process took MAYBE ten minutes, if that. She came over with the sunglasses saying that they wouldn't be perfect but that she tried her best. Imagine how happy we were when he put them on and they fit perfectly! They were level and straight, and fit better than they did before they got bent. The process was quick, efficient, and friendly and we will definitely be back with anything eyeglass/sunglass related- along with referring anyone we know. read more

Greta answered my first call and helped me schedule an appointment. She was my first interaction with Belmont Shore Optometric and immediately made me feel like I chose the right place. She also called me the day prior to my appointment and made sure I knew what the copay cost would be. I really appreciated that! Dr. Chiao was very nice during my eye exam and answered questions I had. She explained what she was doing, how my eyes have slightly changed, etc. I felt very comfortable! I have been going to Belmont Shore Optometric for about 2 years as a result of a referral from my best friend and absolutely love Dr. Chiao. She is so kind, and either has a perfect memory or has some handy dandy notes. She seems to remember everything about you, even the prior chit chat she had with you from prior visits. I get both my glasses and contact lenses from her. She is so patient and really takes her time, especially because I seem to struggle with finding just the perfect combo for my near and far sightedness. After putting off getting my prescription updated and glasses replaced during covid, I was SO GLAD that Belmont Shore Optometric was close to my work - took a couple weeks to be able to see the Dr... but that told me that they were GOOD and really served the community!!!! I had some specific requests regarding bifocals rather than progressives and Dr. Chiao was so attentive and understanding to exactly what I needed and wanted - taking time to really put my lower lens in an ergonomic position for my posture and device needs. I've had appointments with both doctors at Belmont Shore Optometric, and I give you this advice if you have an appointment with Dr. Uyeno: Don't go to your appointment high. You will walk away going, "Wait....What?" I was completely sober and walked away not sure of what had just happened. Dr. Uyeno speaks very fast and very enthusiastically about vision. He tries to dumb it down for us regular folk, but about 50% of what he said still went over my head. But that's ok because I got the gist of it, and I like going to someone who really knows and loves what they're doing. They no longer use the "air poof method" (that's the technical term) to check for glaucoma here. Apparently (according to Dr. Uyeno) everyone's anxiety (and thus blood pressure) would elevate before the test causing the results to skew. He uses a few drops of an anesthetic and then tests the pressure of the eye directly on the eye itself. Kind of weird, but definitely less anxiety involved. And your eyes will be numb for a little while. Whee! The other staff has always been super nice and really helpful. If you so desire Sherrie (that nicest woman on the planet) will assist you in picking out frames that will fit your uniquely-shaped head. They don't have a huge selection, but they do have name brands. I've gotten my regular glasses and my prescription sunglasses here and really like both frames. I'm not sure of all insurances they accept, but I know that they take VSP. read more

Well I'm still in the cloud. First I sent them a text explaining what repair I needed. Then I show up and the greeter looks at the glasses and tells me we can't fix these because they are broke. Duh, no kidding , that's why I am here. I mean I wouldn't bring them in if they weren't broke. I've been wearing prescription glasses for the last 15 years and have moved so many times I have been to dozens of eye doctors in many different cities. I have NEVER been treated with better service than Dr Uyeno and staff. Dr Uyeno is funny, kind, and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He is not someone who just goes through the motions what so ever. He taught me things!!! I left feeling like I understood so much more. Wow The entire staff from the moment we walked in, to the time we left, treated both myself and husband like royalty or old time friends, that's their level of service and care!!!!! Sherri could tell I was having some trouble picking out lenses, she assured me that's her specialty and I agreed to having her fit me..... -I was worried before coming here what their selection would be like, would I like their styles? I'm picky, trendy, and work for Urban Outfitters. Will this place have styles I'll love or just settle for? --she informed me the staff hand selects every style they carry. Let me assure you, we tried on a bunch of styles and I have an oval face, I L O V E D every single pair!!!!!!!!! I was so surprised and happy to see so so many really cute current trendy styles available. I'm not talking like 10 styles out of hundreds being cute, I mean look around, the whole store is filled with really cute styles!!! Here's what's cool too, the VERY FIRST PAIR she chose for me is what I fell in love with! I have excellent insurance and it covered $250 for frames and all together for an incredible Prada frame and lens/visit I'm only paying a cool $130 something.
