I really enjoy going to Dr. Pham. I've gone for years and the staff is very friendly. It's an older building, so it's not too fancy, but it's clean and comfortable. They have a pretty good selection of glasses and do have contacts available. They have parking in front of their office (metered) and a garage that free for 2 hrs if you don't mind a short walk (less than a block). I've always had great experiences at eye care facilities I've gone to in the past, so I'm honestly very disappointed with this place. First, I was given the wrong prescription for my contacts. I tried them during the one-month trial, and they were drying out the same day. When I asked for a different lens to try, the lady with a lot of tattoos told me she couldn't provide another one unless I paid again, which is BS since they weren't even my prescription. I also had a really difficult time getting ahold of the office. My calls were not answered, my voicemails were not returned, and when I came in person, I still didn't feel like my concerns were taken seriously and they always seem to be doing nothing. The customer service was disappointing, and I was also surprised when I received my glasses without even a case or anything to protect them. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience, and unfortunately, I will not be returning. I would recommend going somewhere else if you're looking for good communication, customer service, and attention to detail. read more

I made a appointment before I miss it was sick call to reschedule I was to I have to have medical insurance card to see if I qualify for services even after I told her my medical insurance is the same. FOLLOW UP TO MYREVIEW!!!! Okay it took forever to get appointment with Dr. Goldberg who did the surgery on my eyes. I showed him the RX Dr Pham gaave me and he asked how did that work out and he laughed. I said it didn't and I would not wear them. He then told me after a thorough exam, I did not need glasses and especially ones that were transitional bifocals since I had momo vision and basically he did a money grab to have me buy glasses and spend money. Not only did I not need the YAG surgery I thought I did need after PHAM told me my cataract surgery was not any good anymore. So I did not need glasses and why did have occasional burry vision it was from DRY EYE and he gave me drops to use. NO GLASSES JUST LUBRICATING EYE DROPS. THIS GUY IS A CON ARTIST. I went there two years ago to get an eye exam for my driver's license. First of all he gave me the wrong exam where he claimed that my right eye I could only see no farther than holding my arm all the way out I could see my fingers. That was a complete lie. He also did not mention that I could have gotten contacts to see better for my right eye that is a cone shaped cornea. The reason I know that is I asked my latest Eye Doctor Who said that this is been around for a long time so he could have advised me of this where I could have seen 2020 vision from both eyes. The only thing I can say is that they must have just read my lenses and then just gave me whatever was the script from that. But very disappointed all this time I could have had contacts that would have helped me see and I wouldn't have had such a hard time at the DMV because of them I would think twice about going here. (I had to leave my review here apart from Google so you all don't become a victim too!) I have never left a review in my life but I had to for this absolute terrible experience. My mom went to get new glasses and had the whole routine done. She was told she needed a stronger prescription in which she was ok with, and I even paid about $400 to have them done nicely, but when she got them, she immediately noticed that they were way too strong. We went to tell them about it but they very rudely wrote it off as "giving it more to time to get used to it." Then my mom went to another optometrist to have her eye sight AND the glasses check out, and the other doctor confirmed that she had been given a way stronger prescription than what she needed. Please do not come here especially when there are much better places in the area because this was truly such a disappointment. read more

I have been going to this eye doctor for many years. I went there last week after going to the urgent care for severe eye pain. Urgent care prescribed me the wrong meds so I immediately went here and he told me why what they prescribed wouldn't work and told me to get something over the counter that worked so well. This was the weirdest optometrist appointment I've ever been to. The eye doctor I saw was a full on conspiracy theorist who was somewhat unfriendly but also eager to tell me about chemtrails and his vaccine skepticism. When I brought up the weather told me that the government is spraying volcano chemicals from planes in order to try to change the weather in an effort to fight climate change. This was his explanation for why it's supposedly been cloudier the past few years. And after he asked about side effects from my second covid shot he told me he wasn't going to get vaccinated because the whole mass vaccination plan was a scheme from big pharma to make money. According to him, the vaccines cause your body to attack itself when exposed to covid (which is somehow worse than covid???) and the technology used to make them is too new and dangerous. I have no idea why he told me this after I said I was vaccinated. At least he wore a mask I guess. Overall the service itself was fine. The doctor was brusque but the reception staff were all very friendly and helpful, I didn't have to wait long at any point in the appointment, and they helped me get the most out of my insurance. The contacts they had me try worked so I guess that was good. But I would not come here again and I regret getting my eyes checked here. read more

Last week was my second time visiting Dr. Pham. I was long overdue for an eye exam and needed a new pair of glasses and contacts. I called in prior to coming in for an exam to ask if they could take me without an appointment. The receptionist said it was fine and then asked me if I had insurance. I currently have VSP. She then verified my insurance and told me that I was good to go. I live less than 10 minutes away so it did not take long to get there. There is only metered street parking since the place is in Downtown Long Beach, so remember to bring some quarters! I was immediately greeted as soon as I got there. The ophthalmic assistant at the desk asked me for my last name and before I knew it, I was already sitting in one of the exam rooms waiting to be seen by Dr. Pham! All kinds of win. After waiting about five minutes, Dr. Pham was in the room and the exam was underway. It was quick! He gave me very honest recommendations on which options I had to try and save more money. I opted to use my insurance towards the eye glasses exam and eye glasses, instead of using it towards my contacts. I am actually blind as a bat and my eye glasses require high-indexed frames. Originally, I wanted to take the cheap route and just get whichever plastic lenses my insurance covered. Dr. Pham advised me that I should probably get the high-indexed lenses because it would be more attractive. He was right, I would have been walking around with coke bottle lenses. Perhaps it would have been a little too retro. HA! Dr. Pham said he would give me a 20% discount off the glasses and will throw in the ultraviolet ray protective coating if I got the high-indexed lenses. Prior to this place I was never offered a discount so I decided to go with it. I spent about 10 minutes walking around the place looking for my new frames and decided to go with a pair of matte black Guess frames. The entire process took less than thirty minutes. They told me it would take about a week to get the glasses back in from the lab. It took six days including the weekend which was great! I could not have been more satisfied with my overall experience and newly prescribed glasses. read more

I went to Quality Eye Care for the first time last year. All I needed was my annual exam. The doctor asked me, "How are you?" I said I was fine and asked "how are you?" - you know, just your typical exchange. He replied "I'm really tired," which I thought was an odd thing for him to say. I figured he might just be kind of socially impaired and I didn't think anything of it. Well, I really wish he had gotten a good night's sleep, because he did not do a good job with my eye exam. He announced that my contacts prescription (which had been the same for years) was too high and that it should be lowered to avoid doing any damage to my eyes. Ok fine. He gave me new contacts and they seemed alright until the following day when I had to drive on the freeway at night. Kind of a scary experience, because I couldn't read any of the signs. Luckily I had my old contacts still and I swapped them out as soon as I got home. Quality Eye Care let me exchange my new contacts and go back to my old prescription. My glasses were another issue. I had been having some trouble with my glasses so I asked the doctor for a new prescription. Because my insurance only covers glasses or contacts (not both), I used my allotment toward my contacts and paid for the glasses out of pocket. New lenses cost me $200. After wearing them for a little while I realized they were no good to wear to work because I couldn't see the computer screen. A year later, I went to a different eye doctor when it came time for my annual exam. He took a look at my glasses and determined that whoever had made my lenses at Quality Eye Care had used my CONTACT LENS PRESCRIPTION. No wonder they didn't work. $200 down the drain. So frustrating! I give Quality Eye Care two stars for the friendly and professional front desk staff. Otherwise they would only get one. read more

These guys are amazing. For the last 9 years it has been hard to get an eye glasses prescription that works. I even went to my last eye doctor three times to make sure it was correct. Came in today around 2 (a Saturday), and had a not so great experience. This place must've been good when it first opened, but pay attention to the later reviews. There's a reason they're all negative. Can confirm that the staff was incredible rude. The girl we talked to (glasses, in blue scrubs), was so rude when we asked simple questions. Gave attitude when we just asked about a basic examination price. They also charge a ridiculous price for contact examinations here. I've been wearing contacts for over 10 years, so the process is not at all new to me. This is the first time I've heard a place charge for an eye examination ($90-$100) PLUS A CONTACT LENSE FITTING (an ADDITIONAL $50-$60) according to the rude front desk. That would be approx $150-$160 JUST FOR THE EXAM, no contacts. That's ridiculous. I have never paid more than $80 TOTAL for an exam+fitting. Go to Costco, don't waste your time here!!! It's unfortunate because we live walking distance to this location, but have always hesitated because of the negative reviews. Listen to the reviews!!!! They're scamming you, it is not even near this much for contact lenses. read more

Wonderful people and excellent service! After having a bad experience at another local optometrist, I decided to stop in at Quality Eye Care to have my exam done again with them. Yvette went out of her way to help me talk to my insurance company and got them to allow another eye exam for free (even though I had already used my allowance of 1 for the year). Dr. Pham took me in for my appointment right on time, was friendly and professional. I cannot say enough great things about this place! A++ doctor, excellent staff, 10/10 would recommend! Receptionist who answered the phone was super friendly and checked my insurance within minutes. Made an appointment for a Saturday and she told me I might have to wait as they were really full. When I got there, I was seated in the exam room as soon as I was done filling out the new patient form--not even five minutes had passed. :) Last time I had my eyes checked, they told me I was at risk for glaucoma, but Dr. Pham re-tested and reassured me I was fine. Phew. My insurance covered most of the cost, but he made excellent recommendations so that I can get good quality glasses without hiking up the price. He even gave me a discount on the frames, which was awesome! I don't live far from here so it is convenient, and I've walked by so many times without even thinking about going in, but I'm so glad I did! Pretty much the best eye doctor I've been to. I've seen Dr. Pham twice, for both glasses and a contact lens exam. He is professional, friendly, quick and takes the time to explain the condition of your eyes. I had a lot of questions with one of my prescriptions, he was very helpful. Turn around time for glasses and contacts were both quick! I had to pay more than usual for contacts than I had in past years, I have really good vision insurance and never been charged based on my prescrption, so I wasn't thrilled when he said I had to pay again. I went to Dr. Pham because I had cracked a contact lens, nothing wrong with my vision. He led me to the conclusion and prescription that I couldn't get contact lenses that would not require reading glasses and he couldn't understand why that had been so. Not feeling good about this I subsequently went to another eye doctor and now have lenses that work the same way my old ones did. Stack that up with the shortest optometrist appointment I've had in my 40+ years of needing such and the fact that he took phone calls during the appointment and you'll get an idea of his professionalism. read more
