I love how good attack the office is as well - they are on top of things, they have a portal, they do telehealth and there's no issues that I've had with that either. I had no problem with his accent. That is all for the positives. *If you value your healthy reproductive organs, be warned. This doctor seems a bit too eager to part you from them.* Despite no other patients, I waited a very long in the waiting room and again in the examination room. This gave me the opportunity to closely observe that his examination room was dirty, with dusty equipment, old dust on devices, between buttons, in corners. After sitting through all that, I was handed consent forms for an invasive biopsy without proper explanation. I protested. Only then the doctor came in and informed me he was diagnosing me with adenomyosis, just off a general ultrasound ordered by my PCP. He immediately pushed for a hysterectomy. When I said I still wanted children, he discouraged me heavily, saying I would have a hard time conceiving and then carrying a healthy pregnancy given my age (40) and the condition of my uterus. When I said my prev pregnancy was a quick natural conception and easy, he brushed it off as a fluke. Dr. M. kept pushing hysterectomy, telling me how skilled he was at performing it laparoscopically. I left the office confused. When I later requested an MRI (the gold standard for this diagnosis), it showed no indication of adenomyosis. The office still pushed for surgery, so I cut contact. Two years later, after unrelated surgery, pathology confirmed my uterus was completely healthy and capable of pregnancy. Dr. Marinescu's rushed diagnosis and mistaken pregnancy prognosis (the claim I couldn't not conceive) was a factor in my decision to include hysterectomy in my other procedure - a decision I now regret. To make a long story short: Dr. Marinescu pushed unnecessary sterilization surgery. His office was dusty. Stay away.

When I called the number, I was told that I would need to contact billing to see if this office takes my insurance. When I left a VM there, I didn't get a response. I decided to call again and was able to get a hold of someone. That person told me that I needed to call my insurance company to verify if the doctor office accepted my insurance. She gave me the doctor's NPI number to give to my insurance company. Usually, when I go to a new doctor, the doctor's staff asks me for my information and then perform verifications on their side. I've never had a situation where I'm the person who is responsible for performing the verification. I guess they're busy enough that they don't need to do what most other doctor offices do to get business.

My ob was not on call that evening (sad, because he's great!), but I had the privilege of receiving care from Dr. lao! My first baby I got the epidural, but this one I was hoping to go unmedicated. MAN is that so much easier said than done! As I lingered for awhile at 9/10 centimeters, I was becoming more and more tired, scared, and indecisive on my next steps for bringing my son into the world. Every contraction made me less confident that I could do it, but Dr Lao was one of the 3 in the room who reassured me and helped me through! My biggest praise has to go to her CALM CALM demeanor. What a difference that made! She was incredibly patient with my indecisiveness, never pressed me for what she wanted over what I wanted, but also (so) kindly gave her recommendations and gave me both the space to think things through and all the options before me. After a four-year fertility journey with many ups and (mostly) downs, I was very anxious throughout my pregnancy about something going wrong. I also had significant, daily physical discomfort (including nausea throughout all nine months of gestation!). From my husband's and my very first appointment, we were impressed with Dr. Kurtzman's office. They were able to schedule us around our travel plans for our first visit. The scheduling/administrative staff members are very efficient and great at getting back with patients swiftly about both scheduling matters and medical questions requiring the doctor's input. They effectively multi-task and are very invested in positive patient experiences. When you call the office, you speak to a real human located inside the building! No automated phone system, portal-only care, or extra hoops to jump through blocking you from receiving timely care. When I once needed to speak to the doctor about a time-sensitive matter on a weekend, I was able to promptly contact him by phone without any issues. The physical office itself is spacious, impeccably maintained, and beautifully furnished. Medical and nursing staff, including the sonographers and personnel monitoring non-stress tests (NSTs), are good-natured and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs, expressing happiness and excitement when monitoring the baby and a desire to meet the baby once they are "on the outside!" In addition, Dr. Kurtzman is clearly an expert! He addressed my many questions thoroughly during each visit, and with empathy and caring. He is passionate about the work he does (including his research contributions to the field), and it really shows, having a significant positive impact on the quality of care patients receive. I always felt I was in good hands and never a burden. He took my complaints seriously and prescribed several medications to ease my discomfort. His office sent prescriptions to the pharmacy swiftly and effectively communicated with my regular obstetrician's office, as well as my daughter's future pediatrician. Furthermore, when I was at risk of pre-term birth, he increased my medications, monitoring, and physical restrictions, additionally ordering steroid injections in the event of an early delivery. It all paid off, and my daughter and I had a smooth induction at 39 weeks, on the day I wanted. She was born healthy and well. In a nutshell, the quality of care I received at OCMFM was significantly better than my experiences at other OB offices, with my family members and me feeling supported as individuals in more of a personalized, human-centered way that is hard to come by in these days of AI assistants, online portals, and low-contact care. I would highly recommend their services to anyone with a high-risk pregnancy who wants to feel respected, valued, and attentively cared for as a patient.
