I went to Dr. Marinescu for a second opinion on heavy menstrual bleeding causing anemia. I will say: the doctor speaks softly and comes across as kind and well spoken. I had no problem with his accent. That is all for the positives. *If you value your healthy reproductive organs, be warned. This doctor seems a bit too eager to part you from them.* Despite no other patients, I waited a very long in the waiting room and again in the examination room. This gave me the opportunity to closely observe that his examination room was dirty, with dusty equipment, old dust on devices, between buttons, in corners. After sitting through all that, I was handed consent forms for an invasive biopsy without proper explanation. I protested. Only then the doctor came in and informed me he was diagnosing me with adenomyosis, just off a general ultrasound ordered by my PCP. He immediately pushed for a hysterectomy. When I said I still wanted children, he discouraged me heavily, saying I would have a hard time conceiving and then carrying a healthy pregnancy given my age (40) and the condition of my uterus. When I said my prev pregnancy was a quick natural conception and easy, he brushed it off as a fluke. Dr. M. kept pushing hysterectomy, telling me how skilled he was at performing it laparoscopically. I left the office confused. When I later requested an MRI (the gold standard for this diagnosis), it showed no indication of adenomyosis. The office still pushed for surgery, so I cut contact. Two years later, after unrelated surgery, pathology confirmed my uterus was completely healthy and capable of pregnancy. Dr. Marinescu's rushed diagnosis and mistaken pregnancy prognosis (the claim I couldn't not conceive) was a factor in my decision to include hysterectomy in my other procedure - a decision I now regret. To make a long story short: Dr. Marinescu pushed unnecessary sterilization surgery. His office was dusty. Stay away. read more

He was my second opinion after I was diagnosed with a massive 14 cm dermoid cyst on my left ovary -- which had doubled in size during pregnancy -- along with a new, smaller cyst on my right. I was referred to Dr. Marinescu by Hoag Emergency Room after experiencing persistent pelvic and bladder pain. Since I didn't have a regular gynecologist, they suggested him for follow-up care. For almost a month, I had been struggling with constant pain that no one could explain. Hoag ran several tests but found nothing. When I called Dr. Marinescu's office, he was able to fit me in the very next day, which is almost unheard of these days, where appointments can take months to schedule. The office staff was incredibly kind, and when I explained my symptoms to Dr. Marinescu, he immediately suggested performing a cystoscopy, even though it wasn't originally planned for my visit. Luckily, he was already set up to perform the same procedure for another patient later that day, so I eagerly agreed--at that point, I was willing to try anything for relief. During the procedure, Dr. Marinescu discovered a kidney stone blocking my ureter, preventing urine from emptying into my bladder. First, I was able to get an appointment quickly, which is always critical on these issues. Second, his office staff was helpful and friendly and his office and waiting room were pleasant and clean, although my wait to see Dr Marinescu was even more pleasantly very short. I don't understand how anyone can give Dr. Marinescu a less-than-5-star review. Dr. Marinescu oversaw my unplanned first pregnancy from the beginning till the end. I was pretty nervous about the whole ordeal of pregnancy and delivery but always felt like I was in good hands. Appointments were always quick and to the point which I much appreciated. I had to deliver my baby a little early due to a condition and his office quickly set me up for delivery at Hoag NB. Dr. Marinescu also checked on me twice at the hospital after the delivery. One time he checked in at 4:30 am so I guess he must have showed up for an early delivery that day. He has excellent bedside manner and highest level of professionalism. read more

Been going here for years and my time here is done. Over a year ago, I went in to express my concerns with potentially having PCOS, I told him my symptoms and he looked at me and said that I do not have it, he said I would be "heavier" and "have more hair and acne," which is super upsetting because in the medical field a disease does not have a "look" it is treated from within, so fast forward a couple months I go back because I know something is wrong and he orders an ultrasound for me, and I found out I do in fact have PCOS. I went back to this doctor and gave him the results and he said "you don't look like someone that has PCOS, so I want you to get retested." This is frustrating because I've been advocating for myself for over a year with this doctor. So I get another ultrasound and sure enough I have PCOS. I come back and he gives me NO information and NO advice on what to do next. It feels like a waste of time and money. After months of recurring BV, I later learned (from another doctor) that in chronic cases, partner involvement and prevention strategies are sometimes part of the conversation. This was never mentioned to me. Instead, I was repeatedly prescribed antibiotics with no clear explanation or plan. As an immunocompromised patient, this felt careless and frustrating. Even after we made an appointment to come in and were emotional in front of him voicing how upset we were at the lack of communication (no calls, no emails, nothing) following our son's stillbirth at 38 weeks, we still received no calls. I've been with OBGYN CARE since 2016, and Dr. Marinescu was amazing with my c section! He has always been so detailed, and makes sure that the baby, and the mom is in good health! He was even able to make my scar better from my first c section! I had keloids and he was able to make it a clean line. Now in 2023... I went in for my Annual check up, and he found that I had a cyst on my left ovary! My stomach was growing and I have been having pains but I thought it was my other issues that were causing them. He quickly issued tests to see the cyst, and found out I had endometriosis and the endometrium (chocolate cyst) on top of all my other issues... he then ran other tests to see if I was fit for surgery and got me in as soon as possible! Now I'm 5 weeks in recovery after a successful hysterectomy, and cyst removal! Horrible experience in 2018 although I doubt it would be any different now, sadly. I was seeing Dr Marinescu during my first pregnancy when I was 33 years old. We did the 10-week NIPT blood work to find out the gender early. It came back high risk for Down syndrome but they wouldn't provide that information over the phone - they had us come in which in itself was saying that this was bad news and indicated bias and outdated information about a life with Down syndrome. The bloodwork only shows a RISK - NOT a firm diagnosis - but he immediately went into OPTIONS...about my baby, the child that was growing in my body. Told me I could terminate the pregnancy up to X weeks, and that further testing was extremely dangerous. What if further testing DIDN'T confirm the diagnosis and we took his advice? That was the last time we saw him. I went to a wonderful high-risk doctor (Kurtzman) and switched my OB immediately (Pacific Women's Healthcare). The high-risk doctor (who is pro-life) said we can do further testing (and that it isn't extremely dangerous) which did confirm Down syndrome. I'll have you know, Dr. Marinescu, that my child, a boy (which you didn't even care to tell us as it wasn't important to you since he was just cells that should be aborted in your opinion), is WORTHY of life. He is 2.5 now and thriving - full of joy, walking, talking, loving on his baby sister...and he has ZERO health issues (if health is, to you, what determines a life is worthy or not). He has a positive effect on EVERY SINGLE PERSON he meets. I cannot say the same for you, or myself. I thank God every day for his life and that we didn't take your advice. I highly recommend you don't push your outdated bias on other parents and pray to God that no one else gets similar test results back while in your care. I've seen dr.Marinescu since 2015 starting as a regular routine check up. Both of my pregnancies were through him and both of the experiences were wonderful. He is reachable both through email or phone calls. When there's an emergency, you can call him at night as well. When you need an emergency appointment, they could squeeze it in for you. When I gave birth to my first born, the nurses at Hoag hospital even said he's one of the most caring OB there. And I agree. My son was born a little bit before midnight, and dr.Marinescu came back to check on us in the morning at around 8am. That was a Saturday morning. He also came back to check on us on Sunday morning before we left the hospital. I had problems with my second pregnancy. He was there to answer my questions and follow up on me every so often. I couldn't ask for more. When I gave birth to my second one on Sunday morning, he just had an emergency C-section at 4 AM. My son was born a little after 9am, and he was there to deliver him. I've been thinking about my appointment and my previous review and I don't think I was clear enough about just how uncomfortable I was during that appointment. Basically, he was so busy yelling at the other girl (he was obviously stressed and running late) that he didn't listen to me or answer questions. So one issue I had has gone unchecked. When my phone rang a week later and I saw the caller ID I knew it wasn't good and he just says, it's cancer. Then he was silent. He did not take charge of the situation at all when I was clearly stunned. He didn't say ok this is where you need to go and who you need to see. I had to ask everything. And then after he told me I had. questions and once again he brushed me off. I will never go back there and I hope one of his existing patients will have him read this. Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I had a horrible experience with Dr. Marinescu. After a few visits with him, we decided to try out another doctor just to test out someone new. Marinescu refused to send over our medical records, and at our next appointment with him, he questioned my girlfriend why she would want to switch doctors, making her very uncomfortable. My girlfriend continued to go to him, while she was having horrible problems at work being discriminated by her employer for being pregnant. The stress from this was so bad she was throwing up and in pain most days. Dr. Marinescu refused to write her a note for being absent, and it cost my girlfriend her job. Now that she has no job and no insurance, she tried to go get MediCal so that she could have at least something. After many calls and attempts, Dr. Marinescu refused to give her the proof of pregnancy she needed to get MediCal. She is 6 months pregnant and has visited his office at least 8 times. Dr. Marinescu is not helpful and not understanding. Not to mention most of our appointments were less than 5 minutes of time with him. We will be finding a new doctor immediately. read more

I switched to Dr. Marinescu during my second trimester for prenatal care because the prior OBGYN I was seeing was terrible. Dr. Marinescu delivered my son at Hoag Hospital via C-section and everything went smoothly. Parking here is ample and FREE, and the office is clean and equipped with the latest medical technology. My visits, lab results, and ultrasounds were uploaded to the patient portal so I could access my medical history easily. They always had refreshments and a movie playing in the waiting room, but I never had to wait more than 2 minutes! I can tell he truly cares your health even after your pregnancy, because he always told me even my blood sugar back to normal range after birth I still should be careful for what I'm eating and doing more exercise. The offices (both in Irvine and Newport) are always clean and the waiting time is always around 10 minutes! Parking is never a problem for both offices! What can I say that hasn't been said by everyone else? This office is GREAT! Never stuck waiting in the lobby. Super friendly staff. Dr. Marinescu couldn't be more knowledgeable in his field. I have the utmost respect for his abilities. He's very thorough and listens to your concerns. Terrible doctor. I scheduled an appointment online. When I arrived he had already retrieved some scans that had been ordered by my primary care doctor (I don't recall releasing those but ok), waltzed in (over 45 minutes after my appointment time) and told me I have no treatable gynecological conditions. Without speaking to me. Wow. Who diagnoses someone without a physical examination?? I've seen some bad doctors but this guy takes the cake. read more
