I asked politely for different recommendations for a hat that she showed me that was $300... she proceeded to walk away and was doing her makeup talking to me. I then asked if she did any discounts or price matched.. she asked why. I said I found it a tad cheaper online, if not, I understood and it wasn't a problem. She then was explaining how lucky I am to try hats on and how employees needs to be paid and the light bill is expensive... the entire time I felt like I was not welcome and I was being pushed out because I was annoying her. He tried on a brand and fell in love; didn't even blink at the price tag, which was over $50. He wore it every day for the rest of our trip! I'd say the hats lean heavier toward men's styles than women. I didn't see anything I'd purchase personally, but they do have a good selection overall.

On the positive side: Inventory - This neighborhood shop carries a huge inventory with a wide variety of brands, styles and price points. Prices - From what I can tell, each brand and style may offer a variety of price points and the shop does sometimes offer discounts and specials. Availability - The shop offers convenient and customer friendly hours, check web site for the details. Staff - In my experience the staff has invariably been welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. When I recently mentioned that a flat cap I'd purchased there seemed a little snug, they insisted on enlarging it a half-size at no charge, and the result was perfect. Location - It is absolutely perfect for me to have what I've heard is the country's best hat store only 15 minutes from home. I often arrive with questions only and they are always welcoming and helpful. Negatives The traffic is awful because of construction work going on along 4th Avenue. Parking anywhere nearby on the street is nearly impossible, but there is a small lot at the rear of the building in the alley between 4th and 5th, and Robinson and University that I've never seen more than half-filled and is free for customers.

I asked whether there were any other holes like it on the hat, and she acknowledged there were not. Because the item was a final sale, I asked whether they would consider a discount due to the defect. The assistant manager declined. I then asked to speak with the store manager and was told the manager was not there. When I asked who could make that decision, the assistant manager said she would need to contact the executive manager but did not offer to do so until I specifically asked her to make the call. Instead, she took the hat from me and said she would return it to the vendor. I explained that I wanted to buy the hat and was simply requesting a reasonable discount because it had a visible defect. At that point, she said, "It can't hurt to ask the manager," took my phone number, and said someone would get back to me. I'm waiting to see whether management follows up and will update this review accordingly.

I love it so much and we will keep this hat even when he outgrows it! Took about 30 mins to complete which was fine, we went to eat while he worked on that. The letters seem a little crooked to me like it's descending but with the font (which we did all caps), it's fine. The cap itself was $27.99 but with customization it came to almost $50. I did try to look online to see if it was sold anywhere but those are hard to find so it was worth it for us.
