This shop is not an reputable business. I bought an Indiana Jones style Fedora in what I thought was brown. It's showed up in gray with a sticker on that said brown. I emailed about my disappointment in there hat due to color and I was told that there was a disclaimer saying the hat a green tint on it. My hat isn't green, it gray. It has Indiana jones tags on it and but is not even close to being a Dr. Jones Fedora from the movies. I would not recommend this company to anybody. Either there shipper is color blind or they scammed me out of 70.00. All's I suggest you keep shopping for a hat and stay far away from this company as possible! read more

During a recent visit to Seaport Village, of course I had to make a beeline for the hat shop! I really love hats; enjoy wearing them for the sun protection and the fashion statement possibilities. This store had the typical tourist destination hat choices in spades, but also had a few more interesting and unique options. The prices were on the high side, to be expected near the water. I found a lightweight number in navy blue that was very comfortable to wear right then and there, and throughout the mini vacation. It will get more use now that we're back home, too. The shop's staff was friendly and ready to help. Thankfully, they remembered to ask us about validating for parking. The savings of which paid for about 25% of the cost of the hat. Yay! read more

We were staying at the nearby hotel and one of the perks of the hotel was receiving a discount at the local shops in Seaport Village. We found a hat we liked and when I mentioned the hotel discount, the employee said no there's no discount. I double checked and said are you sure? I remembered seeing the store on the list of participating shops. She insisted that there was no discount. Regardless, I purchased the hat. When we got back to our room, the hotel confirmed that there was a 15% discount for guests. I called the shop and whoever answered the phone seemed unconcerned about their mistake and had an "oh well" attitude. We went back to the shop and I had my receipt as well as documentation that showed they were supposed to provide a 15% discount, instead of owning up to their mistake, the person gave me attitude and rudely said "is it my fault?" The employee said for me to come back the next day and talk to the manager. That obviously wouldn't work for us since we're from out of town and it was the last day of our stay. The employee didn't offer to take down my information or to offer up any resolution. Instead I was given a lot of attitude. I would forgive their overpriced hats, however, this level of customer service and dishonesty on the part of the business was disheartening. Better training for the employees would also be helpful, in customer service, partner discounts, and how to use their register. This isn't about the discount at all, it's about customer service, professionalism, and honoring your stated agreements. read more

The gentleman working around 2 today was soooo helpful, he answered all of our questions, helped us find the right size, and showed us a thing called a sizer I think? He put it in the hat my husband was looking at and it fit him perfectly. we made our purchase and came back to validate our parking too. But just today i called and wanted their advice on how to do a minor re-shape on the brim, which was a little bit too flat. I was pretty sure it would require a little steam, but i wanted to check. The operator would not put me through to customer service saying i had to submit a photo and a written request and they'd call me back at their convenience. What? i'm a customer and i've spent a couple of hundred dollars on their hats and i just wanted to talk to someone when i could get the time, but no, they have this procedure, convenient for them. NOT ME, the customer. I offered my phone number to the operator to have customer service call me and she refused to take it. So i'm cranky and they need to be more responsive. I was on a hat craze around 2012-2013. I had a full day to spend with my older cousin to take me out and just explore San Diego. We went to Old Town first, then decided to stop by and check out Seaport Village. I have previously visited the flagship store in Hillcrest and their warehouse on India St. This location is smaller compared to the one in Hillcrest but slightly larger than the one on India St. Selection wasn't as much as the Hillcrest location but they still carried the essentials. It was fun trying out the different hats. My cousin didn't like the prices for them though and said they were too high. That was 7 years ago and prices have comparatively gone up about 5 dollars since then. They have a good selection and staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. I'll definitely be back once this whole scamdemic thing is over and we could go on with our lives again. I just hope this location survives until then. read more

I couldn't find any place like this in Washington D.C., where men are supposed to be able to dress well. The shop has so many types of formal hats. I was able to sample several sizes of a fedora to get just the right fit. That is quite important, because otherwise I would have had to play mail tag with Stetson. I must stress again, if you want to wear a suit and keep your head dry and warm, the fedora is the way to go, and only Village Hat Shop can deliver. I like the cowboy style in bright tones, it just make me very optimistic and cheerful. Great place to shop but not worth working there...they will run you ragged and stress you out over things they cant control. Not to mention owners dont seem to really care unless it involves their image. And the owners dont know how to communicate let alone do they know how to talk to people. I was falsely accused and was never shown evidence. They couldnt tell me an ip address of these accusations or show a number. Not worth it. We went to the Seaport Village location to accessorize a hat that we purchased elsewhere. They have a large selection of hat band ribbons and feathers. It was a Saturday in the summer and they were pretty busy. Our sales associate Cynthia could not have been more helpful and engaging. She helped us by using their glue gun to attach the ribbon and feather to our hat. The total amount we spent was less than $2.00 but she treated us like old friends.
