Street corn and salsa with chips... delish

Wonderful experience at this small local bar. Very friendly staff and televisions around for game day! Food was great and a variety of choices.

Food was excellent. I had the soup and it was delicious. Nachos had grilled chicken breast chopped up and the queso was awesome. Staff was also very accommodating

Lil Singapore was much better than Singapore noodles. If there wasn't as much meat, I would say it would've been similar, but there was a lot less meat in it then before when I had a little Singapore with rice.. I need to comment that a few more greens added would probably make people more pleased. My other sister had the peanut chicken again and she was happy as heck and she loves the Boba tea. I usually like to just order water with maybe lemon, but the city water is so bad tasting. I suggested since on tap, they have better filtered water at the bar area so perhaps they should fill the water with that. I hope they don't make their Boba teas with that city water because it's just nasty like chlorine. The ambience is so relaxed and everything was clean and the young man that served us, a different one this time was very pleasant. I think, though since one of my sister said she'll never be back that these couple things could be improved upon. Not up to me, though I'd like to see this restaurant make it here as well as Grayling. They have a wonderful slightly, Little maintenance type of restaurant. Most things are prepped and ready to add to the order. I'd like them to maybe have jars of hot chili oil ready because it is getting more popular but what they gave us is a tiny cup each, but it was definitely hot enough. So that's the largest thing that I want to impress upon is the water, and I think you could add a little more cilantro and green onions maybe perhaps some sesame seeds just a thought. I visited restaurants like this in western states and they usually have some condiments available to add on, but I know how messy customers can be. I was hoping to always give a five star so I hope the owners read this. I asked if they were on yelp and I was told they weren't but clearly someone has added this restaurant on yelp. One of the employees told me that they're more interested on Facebook marketplace but yelp is quickly growing in this area and we get a lot of tourist who are used to using that program instead of Facebook it seems that Yelp always works whether you connect to Internet or not at least for myself I'm a yelp ambassador, and also a Thai chef. So is it fair that I clearly judge Asian dishes? Yes. It is what people like to hear when they are spending their money and people want good tasting food and good quality. They know that food is going to be costly if you eat dine out anymore. This is lengthy, but I felt it was necessary to give a full review as our town desperately needs food service like this, but it also needs to improve a little bit.

The mushroom soup was just okay. There was too much pepper in the soup. The hot toddy was a good drink. The elk meatloaf was just okay. The bbq sauce was a little too sweet. The mushroom pasta was not good at all. It was so unbelievably bland. Over $40 for the most bland pasta I've ever had. I am not sold at this point in coming back. Again, the service was amazing! We have been dining at Bennethum's for 15+ years based on all of these. The best upscale, (but not pretentious) option in the Gaylord area. Josh and his family go the extra mile to insure their guests feel welcome and receive great service. On our most recent visit, I had the Perch, a menu staple. Always fresh, lightly dusted and flash fried, nice portion and great flavor. Accompanied with jasmine rice and green beans. My wife had the BNI Blue Wedge Salad, blue cheese dressing , applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, onion, with shrimp added for protein. Shrimp were plump, juicy and flavorful. And a meal is not complete without a loaf of their BNI bread. :) Great cocktails, warm ambiance. Be sure to check them out when in Gaylord area.

This review is far overdue as we were there back in early July while on a road trip. We were just…read moretalking about it and I remembered that I needed to write this review. When we arrived there were no closed signs or anything but they were having a graduation party. Asked about takeout and they insisted that we join the party and wouldn't accept any payment, only accept a donation to the graduate if we wanted to (of course we did). This actually worked to our favor because we don't eat much so we got to sample very reasonable size portions of several options we might not have gotten to if we purchased a full meal to split. Also, since we were traveling, we wouldn't have been able to keep leftovers and would have felt bad about wasting it. It was also nice to meet and chat with folks from the area. It was one of the highlights of our first trip to this incredible state. The barbecue was so good we're still talking about it months later. The meats were exceptional. Perfect seasoning. Perfect smoke. Obviously high quality meat to start with. The sides were very satisfying as they were traditional, but at a very high standard. This was a place that would beat most, if not all of our local southern joints hands down. I don't know if we'll be back in that area again, but if we are this will be one of our stops for sure.

Sausage, I had the jalapeño, cheddar. 10/10. Pulled pork 9/10. Brisket 10/10. Mac & cheese 10/10. I used to live on the Virginia-north Carolina border & love the BbQ sauce from there. This was too sweet. But northerners might like it. (Yellow sauce) They also have original sauce. Mac & cheese tastes like my homemade straight out of a southern kitchen. You've never seen a baked potato like theirs. Huge with triple the normal amount of toppings you can put on it. Dessert- coconut cream pie. Disappointing. Peach cobbler is so easy to make & would taste much better. Huge & I mean huge proportions. My dish could easily feed 2-3 people. They are only open a couple days a week. Thursday & Friday when we went. Best place in Gaylord!!!! They also cater. Would be great for a lakeside party.

For $55 we got 2 horchatas, a small chips and salsa, shrimp taco meal, and the breakfast number 1. My daughter really enjoyed the homemade horchata, I like mine with a little more spice but it was very creamy, lightly sweet, and I would order again. Salsa was processed smoothly with very few pieces of veg if that's how you like it, the flavor was good, very mild. The chips were not homemade but also good for being the standard tortilla chip. The tacos are American style with flour tortillas, cheese, and sour cream which is not our preferred way to eat tacos so that's on us. If you like American style these were spot on. The rice was fantastic and the side of beans were pinto beans and not refried, also tasty but soupy. The scrambled eggs with carnitas were so oily that they were swimming in the bottom. Additionally the menu indicated they came with cheese and hash brown but mine was missing as can be seen in the photo (rectified immediately and kindly so absolutely not a complaint). The green salsa was minimal, would have preferred more as that was where the only real flavor came from. I wouldn't order again due to the oil. We may return and try again as the food was fresh, nicely cooked, the service was fantastic, and the place was spotless. We just like a little more authentic with perhaps different spice levels of salsa (little more spicy).
