We followed it, half-joking about the odds of getting kidnapped, and instead found a tiny hidden treasure tucked into the heart of downtown New Albany. It was all charm and vibe, complete with a cosmic space kitty mural across the way that made the whole place feel a little otherworldly. Pineapple (or watermelon) Dole Whip swirled like summer itself, served alongside classic soft-serve the perfect kind of magic to stumble into when you're wandering without a plan.

It's decorated beautifully for a trendy ice cream shop with plenty of photo opportunities around the shop. The owner/employee opened the shop for us - usually didn't open for a couple hours but welcomed our large group of 15 people in. The only ice cream available was vanilla and dole whip, but there were plenty of toppings and waffle cones to choose from. Prices are affordable and sizes are small or large. The pineapple dole whip is vegan and delicious. Only a few tables inside but fabric is LV. There are also "cloud" light fixtures and a ice cream garbage can. They even provide wipes on the tables for easy cleanups. Would recommend if you're looking to beat the heat and take some fun photos!

We love the variety of delicious flavors available, but it's difficult to stray from something so obviously consistently delicious. Looking forward to return visits.

Boba shop... where East meets West [New Albany IN]…read more Unlike in California we seem to have a boba shop in every corner. We searched for a boba shop nearby (and even not so nearby) and Mochi Wren Boba & Bakery in downtown New Albany came up at the top of the list offering an authentic variety of popular boba tea, coffee, and latte options and also a fusion yummy array of traditional Asian baked goods. Okay, let's go... Not far from Boomtown Kitchen and New Albany Candy Shoppe we walked to this boba cafe. It was a quiet Saturday evening and the we were the only ones in the shop the entire time we were there. We chose coconut milk tea and strawberry fruit tea for our drinks and on the bakery side we got the last two egg tarts left and a chocolate cake roll slice. I love egg tarts and theirs was just like the Hong Kong-style version of the ones we get in San Francisco Chinatown, lightly sweetened, flaky, buttery pastry and smooth. As far as the drinks we both love smoothie or blended drinks and sadly they did not offer this... hopefully, they can add this option to their menu in the future. Instagram: @mochi_wren Review #3879

I didn't set out looking for better ice cream…read more I set out looking for a local business to support. For years, my family and I did what most people do--we went to the big chain ice cream places because that's what everyone knows. Then one day I decided to try something local and found Uncommon Cups & Cones. What I expected was decent ice cream and the satisfaction of supporting a small business. What I got was better ice cream, bigger portions, lower prices, friendlier service, and a place my kids now ask to visit by name. Every visit feels like we're getting away with something. We spend less money than we did at the chain places, somehow leave with more ice cream, and the quality is better. I'm still trying to figure out how that math works. My kids absolutely love this place. They love the unique flavor names, they love the atmosphere, and they treat every visit like it's a special occasion. As a parent, that's worth a lot. What really separates Uncommon Cups & Cones, though, is the people. They were friendly from day one, but by our second visit they remembered us. In a world where it feels like most businesses barely acknowledge you're standing there, they make you feel like they genuinely appreciate you coming back. The shop has personality. The ice cream is fantastic. The prices are fair. The portions are generous. The staff is incredible. This is exactly the kind of local business people say they want to support. The difference is Uncommon Cups & Cones actually makes it easy. At this point, if Uncommon Cups & Cones ever goes public, my kids are prepared to invest their college funds.

Very tiny wine and charcuterie shop that is also attached to the Board and You Bistro and wine Bar…read more This particular portion of the company is strictly for purchasing wine bottles, charcuterie or setup catering events. It is in a downtown like portion of new Albany so you will need to street park. The few times I've went they have had a board and you punch buggie like car parked right in front of the entrance of this location. So that may be a good guide on where to park. In the past I had sampled some of the charcuterie and the cheeses, nuts and snacks in them are all very fresh and tasty. My wife had mentioned maybe having them cater our next big event. We recently stopped back in as my wife wanted to buy a bottle of a wine. She has never been a big wine drinker but she is starting to dip her toes into the wine world. At events with friends like bunco she has been trying some and likes it. So she came in here a novice looking for a recommendation on a good white wine that is a good start for someone who usually does not drink wine. The lady at the counter brought another gentleman who promptly suggested White Loire wine (vouvray). She gladly took his advice. I'm gonna be honest here for a second. There wasn't any prices listed that I could see. So I was kinda nervous what the damage was gonna be for a bottle. The dude could of really taken advantage of a few wine novices. However when the lady rung us up it was only $26. So not bad at all. The Bourbon I frequent is more than that. So no complaints here. After a few days my wife finally popped the wine cork. Which was a hilarious sight. As stated a few times already. She is new to the wine game. So we didn't have a wine cork. We used a steak knife and a some well timed and maneuvered rotations and viola the bottle came open. She really enjoyed the taste and I took a sample. I'm a Bourbon man and not much on wines. But it was solid. She was extremely satisfied overall. So we had a really god experience and a great customer service experience. They very much could of swindled us or tried and upsell us a crazy expensive bottle and changed the whole experience. Overall really nice place. Good cheese and snacks and a nice wine selection.

There isn't a big menu visible and the girl behind the counter wasn't helpful at all. We realized there was a small paper menu available. I got a hot fudge sundae. The cake is very dense and then the icing is also a little sweet and thick. I would recommend a lighter like whip cream-esque icing to let the moist dense cake shine a little easier. This was amazing tastes great, just one small note, there are some pieces of the cereal like big pieces so just be sure to chew. Overall I enjoyed the selection of pastries and will be back. The staff were great this night too. The staff who helped kept great conversation with my friends and I and told us everything about the menu items.
