This place is very cute with ample seating, just a little off the beaten path in downtown New Albany. Their baristas are friendly, and the service is quick. On this visit, I got a double cortado, and while it was piping hot, the flavor of the coffee tasted a bit burnt. Service depends entirely on which barista you are getting. Ive had some decent coffee here and I have had some awful flavorless coffee here. More often than not my barista has not provided me with tasty coffees. I wish there was a recipe that everyone would follow in order to get a uniform cuppa coffee. Prices are higher than other coffee places. I do like the decor though. They have good chocolate covered espresso beans. Parking is problematic, you can park in the back but it's a little bit of a hassle to park and walk around the building, especially if you're in a pinch for time. Also, this location has odd hours. Was in the area for the weekend and like to support local when I can. Walked in and layout was a bit confusing --- counters to each side and tables down the middle. I was the fourth person in line and it was moving very slowly (guessing it was partially because the young man at the counter was on his phone getting orders). He ordered several pastries and three coffee drinks. I started to look around and realize that the young lady the register was the only person I saw behind the counter. I caught her eye and I asked if she was on her own taking people's orders, boxing the pastries and making all the coffees --- she said "yes". I turned around and left. What a great coffee stop! I had a quick errand to make to New Albany this morning, and I can't not use that as an excuse to check out a newish-to-me spot. And I found Coffee Crossing, which I last visited in 2017 when it was 410 Bakery. Similar to then I found some great baked goods. I bought a cranberry scone and piece of coffee cake to bring home to me. These were delightful and tasted fresh. I also got a cafe miele. I would normally get drip coffee, buy hey, I can make that at home. When out, why not get something different? And this miele was prepared fast and was a great start to my day, with espresso, honey, vanilla and cinnamon. Coffee Crossing also had a great atmosphere inside and out. There have been quite a few shops that have occupied this particular architectural gem in the heart of New Albany's downtown and I'm hopeful that the latest location in Coffee Crossing's expansion maintains it for years to come. If you've been to a Coffee Crossing before, you'll be unsurprised with the well-appointed menu, great coffee, tempting baked goods, friendly service. That is consistent. The building is a real point of interest here, though. Ordering is a little awkward, given the bottlenecking that takes place. I would personally flip the order and pick up points, but I don't get a say. The space is calm and sedate with framed photos that call out the building's original purpose as a service station. Lighting is good with both the warm glow of Edison bulbs but large windows that open out to Main St. on one side and the river wall on the other. If the main floor gets too loud, there is a floor both up and down that you can get away from everyone else and enjoy your delicious break. read more

I stopped in a few weeks ago after a Sat. morning workshop at Seeds and Greens down the street. The building sits back from the road with parking out front, although I was on foot. I almost missed at first and had to check GPS. Probably wouldn't have been an issue if driving not walking. The lovely, bright space has a semi-open kitchen with seating in the front to one side and a counter towards the back. The guys working were friendly but not too helpful for a first timer (which is why I'm giving four instead of five stars). They didn't offer to show me a menu and the food isn't listed on the board on the wall - only drinks. I ordered a croissant and was about to pay, when I happened to ask about the quiche I'd seen on Yelp. The person ringing me up said, "Yea, we have it, it's our most popular item. We usually sell out on Saturdays." Since he'd already wrapped the pastry, I took it and ordered a slice of quiche. There were other items not listed anywhere and only put out after I had paid. Keep your eyes open and ask about other items because there may be a loaf of bread or some cookies that aren't out yet especially on Sat morning. The caramelized onion and gruyere quiche came out in a few minutes and looked like a dairy ad. The cheese was melty and the custardy filling was soft and oozing out of the pie-shaped wedge. With a buttery short crust, it was almost too rich to finish, but I managed. The croissant was saved for later and it too was a flakey, buttery treat. I worked from here one morning and couldn't have been happier. It's clean and bright with plenty of tables - including two in a nice separate alcove. The staff were so friendly and on top of things. The barista seemed to know everyone, and gave great recommendations when I asked her about tea. (I got the lemon mint - super yummy!) Right in the heart of main street. Walked in to a very relaxed and chill environment. The baristas were very helpful and made sure my experience was enjoyable. I got a Americana and a caramel latte. The downtown location has a small town charm. The building is rustic but yet contemporary. The staff are quiet, no one speaks much. Coffee is good and the hot coffee is very hot:). They offer delicious cold brews and what i like to call dessert blends, which are to die for. They offer a punch card for frequent guests, which gives a free beverage after so many punches. They offer a minor selection of baked goods, this location doesn't have as many baked items as the other CC locations. Bathrooms are clean. Dining area is comfortable enough, they offer couches and chairs, as well as table seating. Parking is a little small in front, but you can park in the back of the building and walk up the side ramp. My main issue is the hours for this CC location are very poor compared to the other CC locations. read more

Much as I love Kentuckiana food customs, 'Bakery' tends to be more synonymous with cookies, donuts and muffins than bread. There are exceptions (Wiltshire, Blue Dog are obvious ones), but as an immigrant from a far-flung deli-focused culture, my first thought is not to gravitate toward the sweets. Given that context, while I've yet to see pumpernickels and ryes come out of this kitchen, 410 makes a loaf worth crossing a state border for. I think I've left here with sourdough, challah, multigrain breads and certainly baguettes -- none were world-changing, but all were good loaves. Last Saturday I treated myself to a lovely focaccia. And yes, it's hard to resist getting a tea and croissant while you're here. That fifth star is for unabashed friendliness. So if '420' is stoner lingo for 'time for a toke', let's all make '410' the code for 'time to cram myself full of carby goodness'. read more

I have been a Coffee Crossing customer for a long time. The coffee is excellent, their staff is great and usually I would get some type of baked good if I need food. Today I ordered their breakfast sandwich - English Muffin,egg and Gouda Cheese. It was the most tasteless and gummy sandwich and to add to the fun it was not completely heated up all the way, when I was 3/4 finished. Seriously either make improvements to this diaster or take it off your menu it was just a nightmare. read more

As much as I am in southern Indiana, I am not sure how it took me so long to find this little spot. It's super cool! The chocolate croissants...wow! Probably the BEST pastry I have ever put in my mouth. It's heaven on your tongue! I have been thinking about it since I left. I also had a latte, they didn't have skim milk but I opted for almond milk. It was super yummy too! I wasn't able to access the wifi, but I also didn't ask either. They have an open kitchen that is probably a great way to see them working their bakery magic! The breads and pastries look too good to eat. This is located in heart of downtown New Albany, it's worth getting off 64 if you are headed west. I visited early on weekday morning. There was one other customer there when I visited. Having the opportunity to be in New Albany this morning, I decided to stop by 410 Bakery for coffee. I ordered a skim white mocha, and the coffee is bold yet not over-roasted (ahem, green apron place). In order to get to the cashier you are forced to view their display of pastries -- I hadn't planned to get anything, but the cinnamon rolls won me over. Just enough cinnamon, unusual cream cheese icing, and freshly made. Located right on Main St, there is parking in the front, or park by Underground Station and walk around the block. And, for those in the Ville, take a chance and cross the bridge (toll-free) and give this a try. It's clean, comfortable, and delicious! read more

FYI, the "chocolate" muffin is actually MINT chocolate, which I find absolutely repulsive, but the server didn't register this incorrect labeling as an issue at all. :/ On the plus side, they have REAL chocolate croissants, no mint. :) Quiche was delicious, bisque could have used more cream but was also quite good. Baguette has good texture and flavor. Scones are a bit dry, but then again most scones are a bit dry. Chicken sandwich was tasty, and real chicken, not lunch meat. Good cafe food, worth a visit. Not quite sure whether the owner has religious motivations, so I'm a bit leery, otherwise the place seems legit. Addendum: brought the "chocolate" muffin back, and a different server apologized, said she would have told us about the mint, and gave us a free latte (after offering a refund or a similar item). 410 Bakery is a wonderful addition to our options in downtown NA. I love their bread and get sliced loaf as often as possible for our toast and sandwiches at home. The pastries are delectable - get there early in the day, the supply can be limited/depleted later in the day, which speaks to the daily freshness 410 offers. The chocolate chip cookies and chocolate croissants are favorites of mine and my family's. There are many of the treats we haven't tried yet, because we keep going back to these yummy ones. The lunch menu is limited, but everything I've tried has been delicious, although the service can be slightly slow. Allow some time to sit and relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. Our first visit to the 410 Bakery was a great experience. Emily Butts' time at culinary school and working in New York really shows in the quality of her baked goods. My first encounter with 410 Bakery was at the farmer's market where I bought a loaf of their braided brioche, which was delicious. I decided to stop in on my lunch break and I'm so glad that I did. I got the 410 sandwich, which was out of this world good. It had housemade pickles on it, and I normally hate pickles, but I devoured these. I got a chai latte as well that was very good, I just regret not getting it iced because it's really too hot right now for hot tea. For dessert I got one of their handmade brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts, which was an excellent way to end an excellent meal. read more

The croissants are amazing. The only major drawback is that if you don't go early there won't be much, if any, from which to choose. The place is usually clean and tidy. Parking in front of the business can be a bit challenging on occasion. The service isn't always the most friendly and can be improved upon. The atmosphere here is very comfortable with lots of natural light from huge scenic windows and the beautiful interior! Tasty cranberry walnut scone that could have had a bit more of each but definitely would get it again (I usually dislike scones). Coffee is fresh and delicious which is a high measure for any bakery where it is typically over-looked. I hope long term plans include some basic lunch offerings. Not a big selection of baked goods but this place is still pretty new so if Southern Indiana supports it I have high hopes this place will be a go to location for years to come. A quick trip to New Albany resulted in a quick stop at this bakery. We purchased two scones. Chocolate chip and cranberry walnut and a loaf of Chiabotta bread. Oh my golly. I can't tell you how delicious the scones were. Perfect sheen on the outside. A bit of crunch and then this amazing cakey scone. Just delicious. And the bread. Oh my goodness. Soft with a perfect "shell" on the outside and this amazing delicious soft bread on the inside. Very reasonably priced. Great service. Limited items when we visited but for sure delicious products.
