I had a Wiener schnitzel that was good, but the breading wasn't as tasty as in Germany. My dad had the goulash soup, and he should have had the dinner, which is more stew and served over spaetzle. Well for the price it should be a great meal but instead I got something that was not eatable. First pic is what they advertised and the second is what they call gravy looked like gelatin, and tasted like pure salt.. from what I hear the German owner no longer cooks the food someone else does it now and it's purely disgusting!!! Saw this place when we stopped by for Korean food ¨next door¨. Been meaning to come and try it out. Unfortunately, it wasn´t very good. We got the Jaegerschnitzel which was rather bland. The sauce was bland. The spatzle was bland. The potato salad was ok. The red cabbage was just not good. It tasted like it had cinnamon in it. I was expecting cabbage made with vinegar and brown sugar, and instead got this overly blanched cinnamon cabbage. It was really gross. Two orders of Jaegerschitzel and two sides took us over $50. Easily the worst food we´ve had in some time, AND the most expensive. Never going back. Don´t see how this place could stay open. Twice we´ve been by at lunch time and no one there. This is a cute lil' restaurant tucked away in the northeast side of town. It's easy to find and convenient off the freeway. I was surprised by the variety offered from the menu, printed in German and English. The interior sets the tone well and our server was very pleasant. They offer German beer on tap, beware it's strong and hits pretty quick. Our entrees were delish. True potato pancakes have crispy edges and a soft, flavorful texture. These were hard and greasy and i could not eat it. I also asked for currywurst and German potato salad. I knew what to expect when the microwave timer went off in the kitchen. A reheated bratwurst with curry ketchup on it. Then to add insult to injurt, the spaezle was not fresh byt seemed like out of a can with flavorless brown stuff you could not call gravy poured over it. We had the potato pancakes with apple sauce and sour cream for a starter, Jaeger Schnitzel a dark mushroom gravy with spatzle and a cucumber salad and a Rahmschnitzel with a light mushroom gravy and cucumber salad. THEY HAVE RADLERS!!!!! Sorry I just had to start off saying something so important. My husband and I decided to check this place out and as soon as we walked in it felt very welcoming. Our waitress was super nice and when I asked for a Radler she knew exactly what it was and they had it. Radlers are one of my favorite things from Germany and I haven't been able to find any place that does them without me telling them how to do it. It was AMAZING! We checked in on their Facebook and we got a small potato salad for free along with a cucumber salad with dressing. They were both very yummy but my husband wasn't a fan of the cucumber salad. He said the dressing was to strong for him. I really enjoyed it. He ordered a Pilsner (ended up with 2) and the cordon blue with Pommes (fries) and he really enjoyed it. The cheese when he cut into it was super melty and was very well done. I ordered the schnitzel with mushroom sauce, spetzel with cheese and a potato dumpling. Everything I had reminded me of the flavors of Germany and really brought back so many good memories. However, they have bigger portions so next time my husband and I will probably split a plate so we can really enjoy the dessert next time. They had German chocolate cake and apple strudel for dessert it we decided on the Apple strudel this time. But I will be back for that German chocolate cake with maybe a cup of coffee cause that's the best way! I love schnitzel!!! I could probably eat my weight thru a ton of schnitzel but i think my tight fitting dress uniform doesnt allow me to take in that much lol. I was trying this place for the first time with coworkers who are fluent on German cuisine so they assisted me on this new endeavour for me. There was a schnitzel sampler plate which included plain breaded, one topped with gravy, and one topped with this spicy tomato sauce which i know is the Gypsy sauce. I remember because it intrigued me so about what exactly Gypsy tasted like so i made sure to find out lol. My coworkers also suggested i try the spatzel as a side which they explained was flour pasta. Sounded promisinng as i am a big fan of pasta. My order comes and i was very pleased with the schnitzel and it turned out, not a fan of spatzel. It just had this off taste to it with the gravy and i just couldnt keep it down. I felt bad because i barely dented it and when the waiter came to pick up our plates, he seemed devasted at how much spatzel i wasted and didnt even wanna bring home. Im sorry! I was still very pleased and satisfied! There were these potatoe pancakes with apple sauce that was freaking amazing as well! My coworkers got brats and im sure those were exquisite. Currently just moved from Germany from the last four years, so I would like to say I have had my fair share of various German dishes as Schnitzels....I wanted to love this place, the reviews were good! I expect it is exceptional for El Pasions who know no difference but the flavor and texture just wasn't accurate. I had the jagerschnitzel with the potatoes, and a side salad with a Brochen. I was excited to see the option to order the bread but unfortunately despite having paid for it - I did not receive it . The salad and dressing - good. The display of the schnitzel was lovely and looked promising ..the sauce just wasn't it , too flavorless ? Maybe add more mushrooms or broth? I don't recall the restaurants in Germany having so much memorabilia and décor on the walls but it has been a decade or two since I was in Germany except for changing planes in either Frankfort or Munich. The cleanliness is excellent, the staff is friendly and ready to answer any questions about the German beers and menu items. I was dining with a colleague and our selections were Schnitzelplatte mit Beilage und Salat and El Paso Schnitzel mit Picante, Jalapeno, und käse mit Beilage und Salat. The food was prepared correctly, very delicious, good size portion, nice presentation and reasonably priced. Note: except for the $8.00 pretzel! Give me a break!
