I haven't been home to Germany in a few years so I was missing the German food. Found this little gem and decided to give them a shot. I ordered the "I love Germany" plate. Came with 1 bratwurst 1 frankfurter and my choice of schnitzel so I went with the classic Jägerschnitzel. I chose the sauerkraut and spätzel for my 2 sides. I was absolutely blown away by how delicious the food was. The spätzel are home made which is rare to find. Other German restaurants typically use the dried bag spätzel. This dish just exploded on my palette with all the flavors and reminded me of home. The staff was amazing and kind. Just an overall wonderful experience. Thank you! read more

Ordered the bratwurst lunch special. Fries were nice and hot and the side of gravy for them was terrific too. The server was a very friendly & pleasant lady. Brat was dry as a bone and really tasteless. This looked like it was cooked in the fryer rather than grilled as it was real crusty and tough on the outside & even difficult to cut in half. We are long time customers and was excited to visit their new location! While the new restaurant is nice, clean, bright with a nod to Germany, the food was a HUGE disappointment. I ordered Jager schnitzel which was way overcooked! It was tough, dry, tasted like burnt and grease. The spatzel was mush; way over boiled, no structure and watered down taste. Dined here with my daughter and her family. My son in law is originally from Stuttgart and I wanted to dine at a German restaurant while I'm visiting. I'm visiting from Hawaii and my daughter and family moved here last year. The food was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed our time here and I wish I had room for dessert but was too full. Our server was excellent. I think she was the only server in the restaurant but nonetheless she was great. I don't know when I'll be back as my daughter and family are moving to Arizona this summer, but the best I can do for now is compliment this restaurant in hopes that someone will read this review and try you out. This place is absolutely perfect, I spent my birthday here a couple months back and they were more than accommodating. My go to is their Fish and Chips and my wife loves the Chicken Schnitzels. They also have amazing germans that are absolutely lovely. The Pub was great- Huge beer mugs! I only ordered a bratwurst- it must've been a foot long! Great flavor and the (much smaller) roll was delicious. So good I ordered one to go. We also tried the spaghetti ice cream- I wasn't too impressed with it because it melted so fast you couldn't see it looked like spaghetti... but it tasted like homemade ice cream, yumm. I'll have to return another time to enjoy the beer it was a little too early in the day for that. What I tasted was very good! April 2021 This review is for the German Pub Food Truck inside Fort Bliss. I had seen it parked next to different Express Gas Stations inside Fort Bliss. So, I had been wanting to try their food for a while but never had the opportunity to do so. At last, it was lunch time, I was hungry, they were convenient there so I approached them and ordered. Pretty cashier who quickly took my order. I paid with card and within 5 minutes my order was ready!! Yay ! I ordered the jagerschnitzel with Bavarian potato salad. ($9) This was my very first time trying it so I have nothing to compare it to but I liked it. The bavarian salad I have had before and it was definitely different but good. You have to love those Spätzle; they are considered a Swabian specialty, associated with the German state of Baden-Württemberg, Alsace, and Moselle in France. You must also try their different German Beers as they are a major part of German culture. German beer must be brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot, which permits only water, hops, and malt as ingredients; and stipulates that beers not exclusively using barley-malt, such as wheat beer, must be top-fermented. Great visit. The Jagger Schnitzel was on point. Cooked perfectly and the home fries were awesome! Perfect amount of grilled onion, chives and bacon! The beer was good and cold as always. Service was timely and friendly. Just not sure hard rock music is what you'd expect at a German Restaurant. Biker Bar maybe, but not here. Rare finds are often found in small hole in the wall cafes! Took my friend from Germany here and he raved at their venere schnitzel! Just like home, he said. Walked in and tables were not clean at all. Was completely overcharged from bartender/server from the prices that were on the menu, including the beer! When I tried to pay with a large bill (they charge 4% if you use your debit/credit card) he meanly stated, I don't take that. Not that he doesn't have change, nothing, just refused to take it. Anyway, you are here for the food review. The bratwurst we got were delicious and so was the bun that it came with. Asked for the sauerkraut on the side but they still put it on it, no big deal. I have been to Germany so was excited about the sides! The fries were not the pommes I was expecting, but more or less the crinkle fries you can get at Church's with a sprinkle of seasoning. I would be back for the bratwurst though. Hopefully I can encounter a better server/bartender than the one that served us. read more

Saw great reviews for the place and I love German beer and food. Called ahead and was told the place was slammed and it would be difficult to find a table. I decided to show up 15 minutes later to try anyway. The place had plenty of seating. We were ignored when we walked in until I, what seemed, bugged the assistant manager(?), Mike. We were seated and ignored for about 15 minutes, which was really awkward given the scarcity of customers. It almost seemed like nobody had interest in working. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. It is...SO hard to find good chicken cordon bleu at a restaurant these days. That's why I happened by this place. I did a search for German restaurants in the area with the hopes of finding something closer to my house than North Mesa (seriously, it's like EVERYTHING is on North Mesa). What I came across was the German Pub; a quaint little corner spot on Viscount Boulevard. To start off, this had to be the strangest and least comfortable bar I ever sat at. I remembering walking in wondering if I should really sit at the bar at all or just get a table. Since the place was ostensibly desolate due to it being a slow Sunday afternoon, I decided I'd look pretty ridiculous sitting at a table alone. I mean, I was literally their first customer of the day. So I approach the bar, order my drink, and sat awkwardly on a bar stool that felt harder than granite and so low, I felt like a midget. The bar itself was high enough to give a guy a nosebleed. Although to be honest, that's the least of German Pub's problems. I mentioned how I basically sought this place out specifically for a cordon bleu. The last time I had one that was better than the frozen ones sold at the market was at a place called "Tripp's" in North Carolina. Unfortunately, the cordon bleu I ate today was miles away from both that one AND the frozen DIY meals at the supermarket. Okay. I did some research because I honestly wasn't sure. And it turns out that yes...deep frying cordon bleu is apparently a thing. Although I'm used to having mine baked, resulting in a light brown breaded coating on the outside. I dunno...chalk it up to personal preference. Well, when I got this one, I could tell immediately that it was scorched. It looked like a sacrifice to the German Gods. Not only that, but I could also tell it was left in the deep fryer far too long. Still, I really wanted to like this dish. So I gave it a chance thinking, "hey, maybe if I get passed the outer crust and closer to the cheesy filling, it will get better". Right! Cutting through the outside of this thing was like trying to cut through tree bark with a butter knife. I had to ask the bartender for a steak knife, which helped. Sorta. The inside of the chicken didn't look like how I'm used to seeing other cordon bleus. It...it looked dreadful, you guys. But perhaps that's only because this one was deep fried. Surprisingly, the chicken was tender and juicy. Or maybe that was just grease...I'm not sure. But I'll tell ya...this portion of chicken was HUGE! These guys seriously need to get a grip on portion control, at least with this dish. Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but this chicken was big enough to cover half of Texas! I'd say a good...12 ounces minimum. Needless to say, I ended up leaving a third of it on my plate. Now...my experience wasn't ALL bad. The fries were awesome and the bartender was super nice and attentive! I made sure to leave her a nice tip because I could tell she was really trying. Unfortunately, I have no idea if the chef was trying or not because, to me, deep frying a cordon bleu seems...lazy. Again, maybe it's just a personal preference. But I'm used to gently finishing off my chicken in the oven. Overall: I'm giving this German Pub 2 scorched chickens out of 5. And that's mainly because this place's redemption via the attentive, cordial bartender and the perfectly cooked fries. Oh, and the wine was nice, too! But the cordon bleu looked and tasted burnt beyond recognition, with the inside tasting borderline bland. I didn't want to send anything back because I really, really wanted to like this dish and give it a chance. That will be the last time I ever order that particular dish here. In all honesty, I *might* consider coming back for a lunch one day (if I happen to be in the area) to try the fish n' chips. Only now I'm scared they might burn the fish, too. Didn't know what to expect really but I thought it was good! Pretzels are perfect size for an appetizer, served hot and brushed with butter. Liberally salted, definitely meant to pair with a beer. Served with beer cheese nicely sharp in flavor. I had the jagerschnitzel (pork cutlet with mushroom gravy). It was a good size cut, cooked perfectly. I enjoyed how it stayed crisp til the last bite despite being smothered in gravy. The red cabbage side was a great vinegary counterpoint to the richness of the gravy. For $8 I was wondering if it was gonna be too little food but I was pretty full afterwards. Next time I'd order it with 2 over easy eggs on top to make it extra sexy. I appreciated that we weren't rushed out even though it was nearing the end of service and we were the only ones there. Our server was great. I wanna come back to drink sometime, there is a pretty good selection of German brews and a publike atmosphere to the place. read more

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant, the food is great and my boyfriend and I always come here for one thing- the Jäegerschnitzel. The picture below is how I love to order mine, with fries, a side of beer cheese (trust me) and extra jager sauce on the side. The food is very homey and hearty, I definitely say go on a empty stomach you will get full. Also, if you want to try an appetizer then definitely get the pretzel and beer cheese which is where I got obsessed with haha. The pretzels are a nice size, not to big or to small. They are very warm and fluffy and perfectly salted. The beer cheese is warm and thick consistency but not overbearing. The one thing I would say would change my review on the stars is the service, the two people we always see there are always so slow to helping and then so fast to get rid of you while ordering, it makes you feel unwelcome. Just some consistency would be nice and maybe a smile? Anyways, still a great place and will be back soon. read more

The German Pub was recommended to me from my nephew who was moving from California to Baytown Texas and he was correct, it was a Great Pit Stop right off the Highway. The last 2 times traveling across Texas when I'm getting close to El Paso I plan my meal so I'm getting hungry & thirsty right when I stop at the Pub! They have great specials and a big selection of beers all at a great price. Everyone is friendly there, and last time while traveling with my wife in our RV, she asked if the doggies could come on the outside patio, and they were welcome. Some of my earliest memories as a child date back to days in Germany having sweet old ladies that worked in the deli give my sister and me free slices of liverwurst, spending the entire weekend on rides at Oktoberfest, buying blue bubble gum ice cream from ice cream trucks, and eating brats at little pubs with my parents. That's the good stuff. German Pub is the closest I've ever come to reliving those memories. The food is authentic so the unconscious association just happens and the ambiance transports me. Most pubs in Germany (that I went to and remember) aren't really trying to look like some amazing eye-catching gastropub... they're just pubs with good food and a TV or two. German Pub stays true to its roots. I love the huge wood tables with bench seating. And they also have seating outside. There's a TV that seems to stay tuned to sports and a barkeep that doubles as a server. I haven't tried the beers yet, but I have given them a once over and you're not going to find a better German beer selection. And without trying them, I'm going to tell you, you won't find a better beer... c'mon they're GERMAN beers. When it comes to beer expert countries, Germany is number one... and it's okay if you disagree with me, everyone is entitled to their opinions (even when they're misinformed and wrong). But seriously, making my way through their beer selection is a top priority in my life right now. I may just devout a weekend to it. The food is what absolutely had me head over heals for German Pub. The brats are authentically delicious. Juicy and plump. And the pomme frites are potato sticks from heaven. I normally ask for curry ketchup when at a German establishment, but last time I was here I decided to forgo my inner child desires because I know that real curry ketchup can overpower a dish so your not eating pomme frites with some curry ketchup, but curry ketchup with some pomme frites. If you get what I mean. Instead I went with my second favorite frites topping... mayonnaise. For the first time since moving to El Paso, I didn't get a strange look for this request (mayonnaise + fries has yet to catch on in the US, but I promise it's the best thing ever). My boyfriend went with a more traditional meal and ordered the Schnitzle with mushrooms and hell yes, I stole some bites! This was magnificent! The gravy has a warm, comfort food taste with just enough everything to melt your heart. Mouth-watering good! Hands down my favorite dish! So far. The prices were fantastic so I know we'll be back again and again and again. I'm so glad to see a real deal German eatery and pub in El Paso. Took the family (total of 8 people) to the German Pub last night for dinner. My wife and I eat here all the time and enjoy the food and the great service. Here is my experience from yesterday: 1. Greeted promptly upon sitting at the table and drink order taken. 2. Took a few minutes for drinks to be brought to the table (no issue) and our server, Mike said he would return to take our order. 3. About 15minutes pass and a gentmen who I assume is the owner asked if we ordered yet. I say no as Mike as gone MIA. 4. The other server came over after about 5 more and said 'the other guy was supposed to take the order but I guess I'll do it". 5. Food took over 40 minutes to get to the table. I was ok with the wait because they were moderately busy. 6. Everyone ordered various schnitzel dishes all with homefries. The Jager gravy tasted burnt. The bacon in the potatos was almost raw, potatoes were a combination of overcooked and undercooked and everything was swimming in grease. 7. We tried to powered our way through the meal because we were hungry. However everyone left most of the meal on the plate. 8. Mike came over to inquire how our meal was and noticed no one ate too much. 9. I told him exactly what I mentioned in #6. He shook his head, took our plates and brought me the check. 10. I did not offer my criticism of the meal in hopes of him comping my meal, but more of a constrictive leaving moment for him to take to the kitchen and maybe management as a learning point. This did not happen. In summary it will be a long time before my return to the German Pub. read more

The worst German food I've ever had. The cordon blue was so dry I couldn't eat it. The mozzarella sticks were still partially frozen in the middle. The schnitzel was inedible. Just truly terrible German food. The chicken wings and beer were good. They should consider focusing on cuisine they know how to cook because German is not it unfortunately. read more

I am so elated my friend and I randomly found German Pub! It was a UFC Fight Night, so all of the major bars/restaurants were packed in EP. We just wanted a chill place for dinner and drinks. Since both of us aren't terribly familiar with El Paso (he's lived there only a few months and I was visiting for the 2nd time), we literally were driving around in the same area for awhile until we drove past the word PUB. Boom! Done. Found a spot. German Pub is a small spot, has a lot of beer and a great food menu. We were welcomed immediately and asked to select a table- the bartop was perfect for us. The waitress gave us each a menu and explained all of the German beer available and the food menu. After which, she turned on the Colts preseason game for us without us saying a word (my friend was wearing a Colts tee). OH. EM. GEE. They have Berliner Green AND Red, the beer I drank when I visited Berlin in 2009! Of course there's other German beers on tap, but nothing matters to me besides Berliner Green. I randomly decided to order Jagersnitzel with spaetzle and afterward was told it is the #1 seller in the restaurant. #1 for a reason, it was amazing! My buddy was really jealous since he ordered just a brat and some fries. I couldn't finish my meal, wish I was able to take it to go.
