Me and some coworkers went here for lunch. I was told this was a dinner with some Korean food added in. We were promptly seated and handed one hand written daily menu with the Meat Special of the day (which was Meatloaf), along with the available sides. There were two menus clipped to the wall but three members in our party. I stole one from a nearby table without anyone noticing. The prices seemed very reasonable ($10~) for most lunch items. They serve Coke products (no Coke Zero, sadly). Our orders were promptly taken. I ordered some 'Pot Sticker' (4) with soy sauce and a Club Sandwich. I usually order a Club Sandwich to evaluate a diner, but I'm also a fan of Pot stickers and a fatty so I grabbed some of those as well. My faithful companions ordered a Happy Burger and a Philly Cheese Steak. The sandwiches didn't say that they came with fries (unlike other menu items), so that was an unexpected bonus. The wait staff was pleasant but not exactly friendly. My food came out after an interminable time. The Pot sticker was... not good. Probably the second worst Pot stickers/dumplings/goyza that I've ever had. My wife is half asian and her mom ran multiple Chinese food restaurants whens he was growing up, so I eat them.fairly often both frozen and in restaurants (as well as home made when I visit the Mother in Law) and these dumplings were bad. The 'soy sauce' was worse. I could only identify it as soy sauce because the menu said the pot stickers came with soy sauce. When I dunked half a pot sticker in the sauce it came up stained black like a sinners soul and the sauce tasted like fish sauce or motor oil. To sanity check, I insisted one of my coworkers also try one and they were also repulsed. Said it was horrible. The rest of the food (at least main courses) were great! I enjoyed my club sandwich a lot. Little small, but cheese was melted and it was delicious. Fries looked like Ore-Ida very bright yellow) and came out without salt or seasoning but that was something I could fix with three generous shakes of a salt shaker. My companions enjoyed their meal (a Happy burger and a Philly cheese steak) a lot. One said the Philly cheese steak was 7 or 8/10, the other said the burger was one of the best he'd had. The interior was a little hot and stuff, interior a little dirty/greasy -- very much a 'greasy spoon'. There's a great value proposition as long as you avoid asian food, and the main courses are tasty. Give it a shot at least once. read more

Price on the menu is not the price you are charged. Owner told the cashier to add $2 more because I ordered eggs. Only ordered 2 eggs white only. Didn't find about this until I went to pay the bill. Breakfast had a weird taste of cleaning products. First time at this restaurant in definitely the last time would not recommend resturant this to anyone. read more

Hubs was longing for catfish and I saw that Little Diner had catfish on Fridays. I remembered going there many years ago and trying the Happy Burger. Today we drove over there to order food to go. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted by a nice lady who told us to sit wherever we wanted. We told her we wanted to order our food to go. Perusing the menu I found the Happy Burger and the meat and three special had fried catfish. Hubs ordered macaroni salad, fried okra and pinto beans for his vegetables. He also ordered fried green tomatoes. I ordered my Happy Burger sans Mayo. To my dismay it was plastered with Mayo that I scraped off. The burger tasted great and was cooked to order except for Mayo being generously spread on the buns. Hubs catfish was great. It was catfish too!!! He liked the catfish and three vegetable sides. I did not care for the macaroni salad at all. The pasta was mushy and had little seasoning in my opinion. The Little Diner is open early for breakfast and serves lunch until 2:30 pm. If you are in a hurry, call ahead and place your order over the phone. I liked the thick napkins and the ketchup and mustard that were included with my meal. The Happy Burger is a winner!!! Why not 5 stars? The Mayo slathered on my food caused me to drop a star. We'll be back to try other foods. read more

I went for lunch and was impressed. The choices were hard to choose from but since my coworker ordered a Slaw Burger, I decided that a Cheeseburger sounded tasty annnnd......it was! Don't judge it by the outside or even the inside. It's a throwback to the old mom and pop counter places from days gone by. The menu is great and the food is down home good. They were busy and running a little slow, but the place has atmosphere and a great staff that was doing their absolute best to make your visit a wonderful experience. I had their Salisbury steak with eggs and gravy, very different, and very, very good. My wife had their western omelette. We both agreed it was the best omelette we had ever had. The appearance wasn't amazing, but the flavor blew us away. I've never tasted a better one. You really have to check this place out. It's your basic hole in the wall place with great food. read more

Loved the atmosphere, not so good cat fish. Unfortunately, it was overcooked and fried in old oilthe after taste was unpleasant and pungent. The batter was extremely thin with nothing to scream about. White beans were straight out of a can, tasteless. Kimchi, the popular Korean side dish of fermented Napa cabbage delicacy was packed with delicious flavor. The service was impeccable but the ingredients killed the deal and could be easily corrected at a minor cost differential. Not cheap either, bare in mind this is about what we would spend at Cracker Barrel!! We'll probably try again at lunch as daily specials are offered along with the "Unusual burgers". Excellent li'l (and I do mean little) place for lunch. Got talked into having the "Happy Burger," which is a double-meat burger monstrosity on a plate. I was asked if I wanted cole slaw on in.....sure! Why not? The ones who talked me into it all ordered something ELSE. But, my ubër burger came out hot, piled high with veggies and cole slaw on a toasted bun. The only downer to the otherwise satisfying burger was that it lacked seasoning....tremendously. If they had just salted the patty(s), it would've made a huge difference. BUT, it didn't keep me from eating the whole thing. The cole slaw made up the difference. The fries the came with it were hot, crispy and tasty. Service was fast and friendly and the prices are very decent. Whenever I can get back to Huntsville, I'm coming back here. read more

We had breakfast here. It's a small place but that was no problem. The waitress had a slight language barrier and the food was so-so. I asked for a veggie omelet since it wasn't on the menu. When it came out it was just that and nothing else. I expected a full breakfast but I guess with the language issue she thought I just wanted a veggie omelet. This place is a joke. Ordered chicken fried steak Pinto beans, turnip greens, mashed potatoes. 15 minutes later at @1230, was told they were out of mashed potatoes. I give 'em a three and a half, overall. The wife and I split a Happy Burger. It had enough meat in it for three burgers, and the meat was perfectly cooked. The burger was a little bland, however. Next time I'd request a little of their kimchee on the side, to try on it Atmosphere was blue collar workers eating real food. E.g., bring your work buddies here instead of bringing a hot date. The place is decent, but probably not so spiffy as to be promoted by the tourism office. There are bathrooms for customers, but there was no WiFi in the restaurant. read more

So I don't like posting 1 * reviews. The lowest I've ever put was 3 * and I got food poisoning from that place. So my first experience at the little diner was ok they make a decent burger, but they've also went through a ownership change in the past few years. The one thing that really sticks in my crawl about this place is the parking area of course it's used by other shops in the same area so it is quite limited. However right at the door there is a parking spot and it's reserved for one person. That person being Miss little Diner that's all the sign says. Now personally if I had a restaurant and the food was just ok at best I think I'd use that spot for more customers. With it being her place she can do whatever she wants, but as a customer I saw that and was like wow that is so disrespectful and arrogant. And on top of all that no one was even parked there and I've never seen anyone parked there. So yea that's your first impression before you've even walked through the door. I've never seen a restaurant have a designated parking space for one person let alone the best parking in the shopping center. In a few months this place will be hemorrhaging money. read more

Just walked into this hole in the wall diner. Looks very down to Earth and stays very busy with room at the bar or a table if needed. Choice of meat and three veggies is available for each day. Today I am trying their Happy burger which they are known for. It is here and looks yummy. Wow. Its fresh, tasty and very big. The service leaves something to be desired as they rush through lunch hour. The door continues to open inviting more and more peeps in. But the food is well worth it and the meal is less than $10. I work right across the street from this little jewel! The staff is great, the food is awesome, and this place never disappoints! I have to say that the lunch is what they are known for, and my crew and I eat there at least twice a week, but the true secret lies in their breakfast. If you do have plan on going for breakfast, wait until the main morning rush is over. (Between 7:00 and 8:00 am.) Once the every morning regulars have departed, get there around 8:30-9:00. Think of a good burger... If you are thinking of some cute pretty thing with ciabatta buns, slices of avocado, and garlic aioli, this is probably not the place for you. But if you are REALLY a fan of the juicy patties and complimenting flavors, you should not miss this place. Ordered the Happy Burger with kimchi. I don't know how this combination is not offered everywhere yet, but this burger made me realize that ground beef was meant to be eaten with kimchi, this flavor combination was just fantastic. What do Huntsville foodies do the day the Huntsville Times announces the Best Burger in Huntsville? Go eat one, of course! My first time at the Little Diner today. Got there early and was still lucky to find a seat. Within minutes, the line was out the door. Everyone was ordering the "Happy Burger" - their specialty. I sat at the counter (cute that the place has an old fashioned counter!) and watched the kitchen staff directly in front of me. One guy got the paper plates ready with the buns and toppings, and waited on the grill guy, who should get a bonus in his check for how fast and dedicated he was working. Warp speed! Still, the demand was so great for the burgers that the wait was 30 minutes. Let's get to what everyone came here for -- the Best Burger in Huntsville. Truth be told I haven't had too many burgers since I moved here a year ago, but I cannot believe that could possibly be the best. Did they stuff the ballot box? The fresh ground beef was patted out by the grill guy; I could see a little pepper on the patty. The Happy Burger is 2 patties high (see photo) with one slice of processed American yellow cheese. The sesame seed bun fell apart slightly, making it seem a day old, in my opinion. There was a little mayo, a little mustard, 1 slice of tomato, iceburg lettuce leaves, and a little yellow onion. Didn't look like anything special, but the taste is what matters most. It tasted like a greasy made-at-home-in-your-frying-pan burger. Classic American homemade burger that was nothing special at all. The meat lacked any kind of flavor other than grease. Imagine that with the toppings and bun as written above, and you have your Best Burger in Huntsville. Any backyard grill makes a better tasting burger patty. The grease soaked through the bottom half of the bun. On other notes, the French fries that come with it had been out of the frier too long because of the grill back-up. They were luke warm and subpar. The service was inconsistent; one waitress was moving fast and working hard, while mine kept disappearing and looked flustered. I ran out of water quickly and was neither offered a refill nor able to wave anyone down to get more. The owners were there (at least I think they were the owners), and he looked flustered, which I can understand and certainly don't knock points for that, but it would've been nice to have someone smile. I found my mood getting worse as I sat there because none of the workers smiled. But again, no points knocked for any of that today. I'll be back another day to try the meatloaf with 3 sides before I decide for sure what I think about the Little Diner. With that I ask you what your favorite burger is in Huntsville.... I went to Little Diner after a co-worker suggested it based on this place being nominated for Best Burger in N. Alabama. We went there on a Friday the first time and by observation the majority of patrons are blue-collar workers that want a hearty lunch. One meat patty is about the same as two from fast food places. So a large burger is one thick meat patty, and the Happy Burger is two thick patties. The slaw that they put on the Large Slaw burger is not overpowering or too strong. Most of first-timers I bring there aren't sure about the slaw, so they order it on the side. It is very subtle on the Large Slaw burger, and I think you actually get more of it if you order it on the side. I was pleased with the taste of the burger, and the fries are decent. I have been back several times and would continue to go back. The downside is that you can wait up to 30 min. or more for a burger and fries, but that is because this place stays busy. There is a 4 or 5 patty burger that I can't even find on the menu, but have seen two guys order. They stick an American flag in it and make a big procession bringing it out. I like Little Diner and will be going back. It currently ranks as the best tasting burger in Huntsville in my book. Downside: In the "Diner" side of the establishment, they do allow smoking. read more

I went in during lunch break and the waitresses(all of them) were rude. I ordered a burger, fries and water. Stayed in there for 30 minutes eating and not once did a waitress refill the glass and they saw it was empty... I mean, I didn't even bother to ask for a refill because I was so pissed I felt I would've said something out of the norm so I finished, left 3 pennies for a top, and paid and left.. will not go back read more

I went all in on the double Happy Burger. We had a going away lunch on 5/31/17. Since it was my first time the guys in our group said I had to order the Happy Burger. Since one of the guys leaving ordered a double Happy Burger, I went all in as well. It was great, four patties stacked high and cooked to perfection. It took a while to finish and I broke a sweat in the process but left fully stuffed for the rest of the day. The woman who referred to herself as "the crazy lady" said I earned a t-shirt the next time I came in. Would recommend to family and friends. read more

I've had this burger like 3 times looking for "that burger moment"...I understand that it can take a few times to get "that taste". If you are looking for a local lunch spot for a great burger & fries, give Little Diner a shot. Although the place is always pretty crowded for lunch, we have never waited for a table. A small cheeseburger is plenty for most grown men. No glamour here, this is a joint where the food is good and the prices are reasonable. My one complaint is their iced tea. Not the best, has some sort of unpleasant flavor. Off the beaten path tucked away on Jordan Lane North of University Drive. Go find it and enjoy. read more
