Little Dippers is a BIG dipper for me and my family. I wad greeted by the owner(?) (beautiful blond woman) who said they don't open till 3:00. I explained my sister who went to PSU is in Hospice and when she heard they sell Penn State Creamery she asked if she could have some. The owner asked what flavor to which i said (Peachy Paterno) her favorite. She double bagged it, cups and spoons AND said it was on the house! Then she gave me a much needed consoling hug! A pleasant little stand, reminds me of drive in movie walk ups (yes I'm old enough). We clearly haven't been out for ice cream in a long time. We spent $16 for 2 small cones, tasty, but yikes. I guess I looked at the menu and the prices just didn't register until the young lady said it out loud. The menu is also a bit busy, I guess for a local/regular you know what you want so not a big deal. My on negative (more of a nuisance), there was no way to wash your hands after ice cream melts all over you. No restroom at a food place with seating (nice metal bench tables under an awning on side of building) seems odd. Must be a PA zoning thing. Little Dippers is a MUST try if you are in the Mount Joy area. They feature Penn State Creamery ice cream, and it is phenomenal. Some of the best flavors of ice cream I have ever tried. I have not had a flavor that I have absolutely loved. I also love to get their "blend-ins", which features soft serve ice cream (vanilla or chocolate) with a topping of your choice blended in. I usually order a chocolate chip cookie dough blend-in, and I am never disappointed. The staff is always extremely friendly and willing to help. We once ordered several half gallons of ice cream, but they were out of some flavors. However, they offered to hand scoop them for us. While it took some time for them to do that (which I understand), they were more than happy to do it for us which was greatly appreciated. I will be a repeat customer for sure! read more

I'm very lucky to have Little Dipper's (LD) so close to my place. Back in Virginia, it was difficult to find ice cream shoppes. LD is the perfect place for your ice cream cravings. They serve Turkey Hill and Penn State Creamery. They also have soft serve and Italian ice. They have a large outdoor seating area and even a drive-thru. Plenty of parking. And the girls who work there are always friendly. It's open roughly from April-October so plenty of time to enjoy the delicious ice cream at LD. The serving sizes are enormous but thankfully they also have a kiddie size. read more

We were visiting our family in Mount Joy and every time we come here we always visit Little Dippers. The ice cream is delicious and they have lots of great choices. Unfortunately this time I think the staff were slightly off. For starters a few of our orders were wrong and had to be corrected. Then, I ordered a chocolate soft serve cone with chocolate sprinkles and it had a hair in it so I went back up to the counter to ask them to remake it. A young girl remade it for me but this time with vanilla ice cream. I told her that I had ordered chocolate not vanilla and asked if she can please give it to me with chocolate ice cream. She rolled her eyes and gave me an attitude. I'm not one to ever return food even if it's wrong so it bothered me that she gave me an attitude not only for having a hair in my ice cream but because she gave me vanilla when I had ordered chocolate. While the ice cream was good, the service was not on this particular evening. I have come before and never had any issues with staff in the past. This is a seasonal business open during the warm months and closing over the winter. Our family watches the sign like crazy-people when the weather warms up to see when it opens. We found our new goto ice cream spot. Penn State Creamery ice cream is awesome. I read the reviews but now I can confirm them. I went with death by chocolate because I am a chocoholic. What else can I do? It was gone by the time I got home. My wife went with the joy joy (think almond joy) ice cream and that was amazing also. Not overly sweet like the candy bar with almond bits. My family moved to Mt. Joy 7 1/2 years ago. Tonight we had a craving for Ice Cream, but we didn't want Frozen custard, or ice milk as served by the nearby chains. So we decided to try Little Dippers for the first time. We have family in lake Hopatcong, New Jersey near Jefferson Township. On Rt 15 West there is an ice cream shop called Jefferson Dairy. Until now, I thought they had the best soft serve ice cream. I also spent a summer in my mid 20's driving a soft serve ice cream truck. That ice cream was good, but not great. Little Dippers BLOWS AWAY any ice cream truck! We have been driving by this little ice cream place for 7 1/2 YEARS! Big mistake! Huge! This little place has the BEST ice cream around! I had a simple hot fudge sundae with vanilla soft serve, nuts, whipped cream, and of course, the all important cherry on top! My wife had a Blend-in and my son had a simple dish of soft serve vanilla. The young ladies at the window were quick and friendly and did a great job! The pricing was very reasonable as well. I went with a group of friends and ordered a mint ice cream waffle cone. When I got to the bottom of the cone and went to eat the ice cream, I notice a white clump sitting at the bottom. After inspecting the white clump, I noticed it was chewed gum...one of the employees, for no apparent reason, put their chewed gum at the bottom of my ice cream cone! read more
