Went to GiGi's for dinner and was caught by surprise. I ordered a cheesesteak expecting a decent but probably a mediocre sandwich at best. I was wrong. It was the BEST cheesesteak that I have ever had. The thing that made it so good was the meat. It was thinly shaved pieces of actual ribeye steak, not chipped pieces of who knows what kind of meat with filler, this was the real deal, actual steak that was seasoned to perfection! I have had a lot of cheesesteaks from all over the country and this was the best tasting cheesesteak meat I have ever had. If you get a chance try the cheesesteak at GiGi's. First time here it was a little confusing probably because it was busy, we wanted to order wings to eat there and get ice cream Togo and we were told we had to order at the Togo window outside we couldn't eat wings indoor and there was plenty of seating it was confusing so we just ordered ice cream and left, over all the ice cream was good. Came for ice cream on a spring Friday evening and ordered at the take out window. The same woman who took orders, also scooped ice cream and brought it out to customers. We waited a bit but didn't mind at all. Thankfully a friendly family in front of us line told us that the portion sizes are HUGE! She wasn't kidding! We have been going here for the last five years. It is truly a hidden gem by the river. As soon as you walk in you are taken back to your childhood if you grew up pre 1990s. The colorful walls and decor are entertaining for all ages. The ice cream is delicious so my kids say. I am more of a milkshake guy and I definitely give them a thumbs up. You get a lot for your buck and the flavor is perfect. I cannot vouch for the food because we haven't eaten there but it certainly has a yummy greasy spoon smell to it. Great classic ice cream shop. Lots of flavors and good prices. 3.75 for "one scoop". The girl came back and gave me a cone with about 4 scoops. I said, "is this one scoop?" She said, "yeah, our scoop is big!" This is the kind of ice cream shop you would have gone to as a kid. My wife got this sundae looking thing with whipped cream and cherry on top. She ordered a "half order" and it was HUGE! Only $3.50-$4.00. Only down side is its cash only, but that kind of goes along by with the whole classic ice cream shop theme. My first ever review on Yelp because my kids and I had such a great time! A step back in time; brightly painted walls, lunch boxes filled with toys, YUMMY ice cream, and ridiculously low prices. Awesome little icecream shop. We've tried a few of their icecream sundaes and was never disappointed. Personally I prefer the shakes. The straws that come with the shake help with how thick the shakes are. The straw is probably about 3/8" diameter. The atmosphere is fun with tons of nostalgia includong the classic lunch box collection. For anyone that has ever read any of my reviews it wouldn't be complete without a review of the burger. First off I wasn't expecting much but maybe a carnival burger so I ordered a double. I wish I would've taken a picture because this thing blew me away at the size of it. Size aside the first bite was pretty blissful. If I could describe it anyway it was as gourmet as it gets for an icecream parlor.
