I had a lovely experience shopping at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop today. All the…read moreproceeds support the American Cancer Society. So I felt that purchasing something from here goes to a good cause. I love that. They have a lot of clothing items, shoes, jewelry, books and household items for sale. I found a section of old cookbooks that peaked my interest. I found two really neat cookbooks from 1929 and 1949 that I had to get. I love old cookbooks and forgotten recipes from the past. I also found a set of 4 appetizer plate that had different images of cheeses on them. I thought they would be great to have for a charcuterie board. The ladies that volunteer their time there, are all so friendly. I had a nice time chatting with them. They signed me up for their rewards program where you earn points with every purchase. They also let me know that they welcome volunteers. I'll have to keep that in mind. It's a very nice store and a great place to find treasures that are intriguing. I will definitely come back and go to some of their other locations in the South Bay.

Plenty of shoes, bags, and jewelry, too. They still have lots of vintage items and they didn't seem as overpriced as they did a year ago. Nice sets of dishes, collectibles, milk glass, knick knacks, and books. I found an Eileen Fisher sweater in my size for an excellent price. What a nice surprise. The cashier tipped me off to a second one in green on the rack, but it wasn't my style. I appreciated her thoughtfulness, though.

I wish I had taken photos of the interior, but I was preoccupied with browsing! If I wasn't on a schedule I could have spent a lot longer there. I used to visit East Wind Books in Berkeley often before they closed, so I was happy to see another store that focused on writings by Asian authors. It was a great selection to choose from in every category! I wish I had taken some photos! The gentleman working was super friendly and explained where everything was and how it was organized. We had a great time browsing and found some great books to bring home. We were even gifted some handmade knitted bookmarks! We will definitely be back when we have even more time to browse!
