The treble group is singing songs of female empowerment and diversity. I see this group as a way to not only express her singing voice, but it gives voice to her sense of confidence, her own unique opinions, as well as her love of community. They are doing a great job with online singing, and we feel we are getting closer to safe, in-person singing as vaccinations become more a reality. After sitting down and filling out an application (45 min process), you wait to get approved(a few days to 2 weeks) . Then you MAY or MAY NOT get the cat/kitten you had your eye on. Once we got the email saying we were approved, then we made an appointment to hopefully see about bringing the kitten home, so we thought. After driving about 50 minutes to this location and played with the kitten we had our eyes on, they told us we could not take her. Mind you, we've had several cats through the years. We've always given our cats a great life & spoil them rotten. After answering all the questions which felt like a complete background check, drive several miles and almost an hour away...to not be able to take that kitten home was a terrible decision on Mini Cat Town's end. Especially after they tell us, all her siblings were adopted, and she's been there the longest. Well....she could've come home with us to a loving home, but no. This most definitely tainted the whole experience. I get you're trying to weed bad cat parents, but you're going too far with asking for lease info/home ownership information. I have to be honest by saying, I would NOT recommend this place at all. The whole process is a waste of time, especially when you are NOT even guaranteed to get the cat/kitten you initially want. Please look into your process, it hinders cats/kittens from having a loving home!

Looking for an alternative program to migrate to I heard a lot about QuickBooks, but am rather 'old-school' and was trying to avoid putting our business accounting in the cloud and having a direct link from online bookkeeping to our checking account. As I had never used any other accounting program, and have no formal training, switching felt daunting. I found Prosper Bookkeeping on Yelp and reached out to Daniel Lin for a free consultation. He explained that I could use QBO without linking our checking account directly or utilizing AI features if I did not want to. So I decided to work with Daniel -- he patiently went through the steps to set up our books for the beginning of the year and coached me in bringing all entries for the year up to date. It was helpful for me to learn the new program UI through hands on instruction via Zoom, and then later review the videos Daniel provided of our training sessions. Daniel is a consummate professional - a non-judgmental and patient listener who is extremely knowledgeable and has a knack for quickly parsing through numbers. After using the program for a full quarter, I found that I had made several errors and could not reconcile our bank statements with QBO -- Daniel found the issues for me and fixed them in minutes. During my time volunteering, I did enjoy getting to know some of the families who came through the lines, connecting with other college students, and working with a few kind staff members. Helping people in the community was meaningful. However, my overall experience was disappointing due to the behavior of some long-time "regular volunteers." I frequently observed volunteers speaking harshly to people receiving food, yelling at them, and showing little patience when there were language barriers. I even witnessed a volunteer smack someone's hand away from the produce boxes. While I understand there are rules that must be followed, the way some people were treated felt disrespectful and lacking empathy. I also noticed inconsistency in how rules were enforced. Volunteers were told not to leave their stations or keep water on the floor, yet some long-time volunteers regularly ignored these rules themselves. There was also frequent gossip and negative talk about other volunteers. Sacred Heart serves people who are often already going through difficult circumstances. Compassion and respect should always be at the center of that work. Unfortunately, I didn't always see that reflected in the environment. I hope the organization takes time to evaluate volunteer conduct and reinforce the importance of empathy when working with the community.

Starting Arts could not give straight answers when a bullying incident occurred during a rehearsal at their studio. One employee who was not working at the studio on the day of the incident, Adrienne Marquette, insisted her story was truthful. The adult present for the rehearsal, Amber Micelli, gave her side of the story about the incident, but it did not match the first story. Both adults telling us two different stories about our children experiencing a difficult situation in a supposed "safe space" is completely ridiculous, and neither one of them should be working with children. The company's handling of the situation could have been better and more professional. It is alright to say you don't know what happened rather than make up a story and insist it is true. Be aware of this business and how they treat children when parents are not nearby. They yell at the kids here and get frustrated if they have trouble reading their lines.
