As a yelper here for over 13 years, I don't sugarcoat my words (or in my reviews), and I don't intend to do so here either. The USC program is rigorous and not for everyone. There were so many readings that I often genuinely wondered if it was even humanly possible to get through them all. Granted, I am a slow reader, and that certainly did not help. Beyond the beautiful campus and the prestige that comes with the school, more importantly know that there is no financial aid for tuition fees for master program. Education does not come cheap. Still I am grateful for the learning experience and for my many professors who were simply wonderful and amazing professionals. A big shout out to Dr. Julianna Kirschner, Professor Monica Koyama, Dr. Muthuswamy and Dr. Courtney Pade. P.S. I do wish I had been in the class of Dr. Bracero and Dr. Akira; I have heard so many amazing things about them.

I didn't attend this prestigious University; however, I joke that I am an honorary alumna. My brothers from another mother all graduated from here, and I attend Homecoming with them every year. In fact, I used to work with Eddie Tannenbaum who discovered Traveler (USC's Mascot) when he was a junior in 1961. The campus is beautiful and features several Romanesque Revival style buildings. A portion of the main campus was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. The Coliseum is in walking distance. I've attended many football games here over the years and have seen Clay Matthews, Reggie Bush, Mark Sanchez, & Matt Leinart play. I remember the glory days of Pete Carroll. Our favorite tailgate party is the one hosted by LAMBDA. They have a great DJ, delicious food, a premium bar, fun activities and, of course, fabulous attendees! This year we were treated to yummy eats from Bludso's BBQ & tasty treats by Ice Cream Occasions. When the party was over, we all headed to the Coliseum for the match between the Trojans & the Huskies. Sadly, we lost this game but we will continue to Fight On!

It's always too cold in here. Whether it's a heatwave outside or a monsoon, my fingers are always frozen. 2. There is no quiet. Especially the first floor is like a talk show. People are holding regular volume conversations about youtube videos and what not. You're in a library!!! It's ridiculous. 3. Sick students. I mean the person sounds like they are dying and yet they thought it was a good idea to bring their plagued self into a closed public place and spend hours coughing and sneezing without even covering their mouth. You'd think they're auditioning for a zombie movie. Their parents clearly failed, but why is the library failing? A friendly "Stay Home if You're Sick" sign would be so helpful! OR maybe a dedicated "Sick Bay" corner. I've changed rooms four times in just 2.5 hours! Come on people!

It is too good to be true. i have never even imagined that a library could be as beautiful , functional and eco-green as this one. Gone are the days when i would haggle tables and electrical sockets. Or when I have to cram all my stuff in their tiny tables. Now I am free =) Let me tell you something about myself. I am a senior graduate student in CSULA majoring in MSN/ACNP. I love my inner nerd and I am obsessed with sticky notes and high lighters. I have my share of coffee houses. The one close to my house opens at 4:30 am and closes midnight. I remember the other starbucks hours to a T. Lately, we had to do a couple of papers and I needed a quiet place to do this. I have been to a couple of public libraries but once again, YELP has saved me. First date. The library is beautiful. It has glass windows all through out and scenic views of playa del rey. It looks so majestic sitting on top of a hill. what a change from those dull white walls. It has 3 floors. The first floor is the information commons area and where the cafe is located. The 2nd and third floor is the usual books and study area. Stay with me. Did I tell you about the hours? They open at 8am and close at 8pm for visitors. If you reside in Westchester, Playa del Rey or playa vista then you can apply for a (Free) visitors card than will give you access after 8pm until 2am. After 2am, its only LMU alumni, faculty and students. The library's hours is basically "24/5" meaning they are open 24 hours from sunday to thursday then close earlier during friday/saturday. I love it when I go there. There are SO MANY students studying even after midnight that I feel embrassed browsing facebook in my laptop while everybody else in engrossed in their books (NOT!). (Dry) food and drinks with lids are allowed. The cafe closes at 1am. Be Green with Envy. The 2nd and 3rd floors house "group study" rooms that LMU students can reserve in 4 hours blocks. Since I have been going mostly nights there, I catch a glimpse of their pajama party. Chips and soda in the table. Open laptops and books. and of course in PJs. The walls inside these rooms are whiteboards so if you recall better with "images" such as me. The wall will be a handy tool to aid your memorization. The study area is a nice mix of comfy couches and square and round tables with ergonomic chairs. There is plenty to share. I could go on with this but I must be boring you already. I saved the best for last.. Parking. The first time I went here I stayed from 10am to 7:30 pm. I did valet (yes, its ALSO FREE) but when I came back I had a ticket stuck in my windshield wiper. WTH? It said I do not have permit to park there. How would I know? I gave my keys to the attendant. I then talked to somebody from security that told me that all visitors should stop by the MAIN security gate (first one when entering the campus) to get a visitor pass from the hours of 7-6pm. I gave them a copy of my car registration and the ticket got waived. Yey. I love LMU. So thankful they shared this library to night owls like me. Everybody has been so helpful and I think I will be checking in here frequently from now on...

I have been waiting to write this review for 3.5 years!!! This will be very thorough since I have…read moreliterally been at this library every day during those years. ---A little background--- Payson Library is the only library on "main campus" of Pepperdine University. In the whole campus, there are two other libraries (Drescher Library & Law Library). Payson is 99.9% undergraduate students and has the most hours out of all the libraries. ---Layout--- Walking into the library you will have two options: upstairs and downstairs. From experience, I would say upstairs is definitely more for talking or group work since it is mostly tables (no cubicles). Upstairs we have what is called the ACE Room, where all the computers that have photoshop etc. all those programs that not everyone uses. There are only about 6 study rooms upstairs which are usually always booked (book online). There are three other rooms upstairs that are more hidden towards the back. These rooms are great but there is one problem, there are little to NO outlets. It is 2015, we need electrical outlets to study now!! Thats why these rooms/areas are usually avoided. Downstairs now: where most of the printing occurs (although there is printing upstairs), most of the public computers, the couch area for mid-day napping, the "new" room, and the cubicles. The "new" room was installed in 2015 or 2014 (can't remember) but it is beautiful and relatively small but great for group work since each has a large tv screen with HDMI to display what is on your personal computer screen to a group of people. The cubicle area is where the ocean view is and its GREAT. It is the quietest area. My favorite part is that I can sunbathe inside the library while studying and looking at the view. The downside of this area is that it is pretty packed and it again, NEEDS MORE PLUGS. Only about half the cubicles have plugs. Under the library there are more study rooms but those are to be avoided... Most of those rooms are very cramped (best if its just 1 person) and the white boards are completely trashed, some of them you cannot even write on them. ---Services/Rentals--- Obviously, its a library, so there are a ton of books. Honestly, its hard for me to say how great of a selection it is, since there is literally no time to have pleasure/leisure reading. If you're looking at articles there are many large databases available to you from the library which has been great. There is a service that if there is a neighboring college that has the book you need, you can have it shipped to Pepperdine. I have not done this but from what I heard you need to put in the request way in advance because it takes a while. Besides books, there is large selection of DVDs. To rent (only to stay within the library) are headphones, earphones, certain books, computer chargers, phone chargers, and calculators. These services are incredible and LIFE SAVING when you forget all your cords. Now to talk about the writing lab/speech lab. The writing lab is available only by appointment (to be made online). The times are very limited from what I have experienced. The writing lab is run by usually junior/senior writing and english majors who are very helpful! Almost every paper I have written has been read by the writing lab people. Also, the writing lab has an online option conducted through google doc. I have done this once and it was GREAT. Get on the google doc at the same time and watch them make changes and use the chat feature to ask questions. Problem with this--- this is almost NEVER available. This has such great potential but isn't being utilized!! I want to be able to get the writing lab experience while I'm in bed!! Make this happen! Lastly, the speech lab is also available to practice your speeches in front of someone and have them critique you. I have done this once as a requirement for a public speaking class but never again. ---Printing System--- If you want to print in this library, you have to have an ID card... I don't think there is anyway else to do it. I would love to see a change made in how to print here. I think they need to make it an option to pay directly from a debit or credit card. Sometimes it is such a hassle to have to put your money onto your ID, just to use your ID. Printing is way expensive for color! ---CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE/ SUMMARY FOR SUGGESTIONS--- -Consider expanding the library -Add in a vending machine or mini cafe!! I would love this. -Extend the hours on the weekends since they are vary limited -Change the printer system to use credit/debit cards directly -MORE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS EVERYWHERE PLEASE - Fix boards in underground study rooms - Make the writing lab online options more available !! Probably best for after 6pm In conclusion, I am sorry this was so long. I am a Payson Library expert. Bonus: I have heard this semester that there are rumors of Payson getting a full makeover after I graduate in 2016. This wou rumor they will be redoing.

Many nearby libraries have undergone major renovations and if you are a fan of older buildings, this would be a place to visit. Within 10 or so steps you can easily find yourself on the next floor - there are 4 floors altogether and the main floor is the 2nd floor. (+) free 3 hour parking (+) reasonable amount of seating in certain areas. Not as much seating amongst books. (+) decent variety of magazines There seems to be constant complaints of the homeless population, but this is typical of any city library. As long as they are respectful, I am OK with that. I hate to rate a public resource low or average, but the experience was mediocre at best. The stairs are very industrial-like and loud and the carpet looks like it could be cleaned. With all the taxes the city of Pasadena collects, there should be more done to preserve its charm.

The ocean views are incredible, and it is a very short drive to the beach. The buildings are sooo cute, and I love the decorative touches all around the campus. Who wouldn't want to go to school where they filmed Zoey 101? Beyond being beautiful, it has been a really good school for him. They really care about community. He enjoyed his classes. CSL is by far the best place to study/lounge out on campus! It's also really nice that this place…read moreis so hard to find for a lot of students. You can actually catch a bird's-eye view glimpse of the courtyard from the food court where Jamba Juice is located at - but for most students, it's really a matter of knowing how to get here. There are 14 to 15 study rooms here - which you can reserve in advance. You get 40 hours of reservation hours per quarter. The rooms are locked, relatively spacious and come with a whiteboard. While your cellphone signal may be spotty, the wifi is really strong here as there are a few routers strategically placed around the room. The computers in CSL are PCs, while the computers in the lab directly across from CSL (connected by the same courtyard in the middle) - have Macs. Even if you don't get a study room, there is still ample desks/chairs as well as sofa like lounge chairs throughout this space. What's great is the courtyard is open-air, so if you need a study break or some fresh air, you can just walk out to the courtyard and rejuvenate. There are vending machines right next to CSL and the UC Irvine Blood Donor Center is also adjacent to this lounge. Finally, since it's part of the Student Center building, CSL has the most flexible hours out of all study spots on campus - 7am to midnight everyday - open 24 hours during Fall, Winter Spring quarter Finals week.

The amount of preparation and planning it takes to organize something this large with the amount of family and friends that attended is truly extraordinary. I parked at Matadome (Premier America Credit Union America) - no charge to park. Don't forget to bring your flowers and/or leis to celebrate your student's graduation. This 2 hour ceremony started about 30 minutes late (8:30AM) and ended at about 10:30AM. Restrooms are available yet all are inside the university buildings (none available outdoors) Make sure to hydrate and bring water and maybe some snacks. There is no shade for the audience so come prepared! Beautiful grounds with plenty of space for family photos.

I came here today to read a book that I got as a gift! Needed to get away from my everyday life of sitting in my bedroom depressed. So I decided to go out to a place that makes me feel good which is my old stomping ground CSUN. The book I'm reading is called Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. My goal is to finish this book by the end of the week which is Saturday/Sunday. I'm already in chapter 4 and I got the book yesterday. I'm passing myself so I will obtain the information while understanding the book as I read out loud to myself. The facility here has changed from years ago when I was here. In the lobby they have a coffee shop and a lounge area. Which is crazy to see in a library! It's the light_skin_dragon blasting off quietly to find a new place to review for all my readers out there!
