The service was great but it went downhill from there. It was dim lighting which is okay but shouldn't be that dim. The bobo for 2 had something called silver chicken that tasted good but smells like cat food. The fried items were over saturated in grease and tasted like old freezer bags cooked in old oil. The beef sticks were the star and were really good. The tofu plate was decent but nothing I would run back to order. After eating the food I had stomach issues al night so I do not recommend this place. read more

I wanted to try a restaurant I had never been to before. I explored their menu online before going. The menu is clear that if you ask for substitutions there is a charge but are allowed. When I attempted to have chicken substituted for pork...I was told no....not for such a small amount of food...so I offered to order two and was still told no. Worst Chines food I have ever eaten ! I ordered the Wonton Soup, which was fine, but what my dining partner ordered was inedible. The sweet and sour chicken and more fried coating on the outside than chicken on the inside ( if it was really chicken) the fried rice tasted like instant rice I might eat in an emergency situation. You couldn't even see the rice kernels, it was so overlooked. And the noodle dish was so greasy..... Yuck! Probably the best value you will get for Chinese food in town. The quality of food is a bit lower than its competitors but it's not disappointing, just average. You basically get what you pay for. They deliver between 5-9pm (min. order $20) and they take to-go orders for most of the day. The dining area could use some work but it gets by. Food was very good and seemed to have been made fresh - especially the vegetable egg foo young (fluffy with lots of veggies). We also enjoyed Kung Pao chicken along with sweet and sour chicken (which may have been a tad over cooked). Egg rolls were crispy and wonton soup tasty. We had it delivered to our hotel. It arrived hot in under 45 minutes, delivered by a polite young man. We used to eat here every week when we lived in Juneau some years ago and found the quality to be comparable to then. This was once one of the best places to het Chinese food in Juneau. When the establishment changed hands and things started to go downhill. Food has started to become sub-par as the quality of the ingredients has diminished. The current server/waiter they have now is dirty, and dose digesting things that violate the health code. He has been seen touching his face, dandruff laden hair and then without washing his hands touch customer's eating utensils. He will sneeze and wipe his nose on the back of his hand, or a dirty handkerchief and proceed to go about his tasks without washing his hands. If food drops on the cook top he will pick it up and put it back on the customer's plate. He is also constantly on his phone, for which he usually needs his glasses, meaning he's touching his face and grezy-flakey hair every time he put them on- or takes them off - again dose not wash his hands. He openly lies to customers about the freshness of the food in the Serving Well. If your rice has sat long enough to create a crunchy shell on the outside, or crust on the bottom of the hotel pan it's been there awhile. The staff has been known to work sick as well. With all that said a tip or two for eating here provided there is no coughing, sneezing, weezing or snorting behind the line - or from the server. 1. Always ask for it to be made fresh, unless it's super busy. If there super busy - it's fresh. 2. Watch the server/waiter If you choose to eat here, I recommend the Beef Bamaki (beef skewers) - they are the only thing that has remained consistently good over the years. read more

I keep going back to Little Hong Kong because it's got a convenient location in the Mendenhall Mall, and unless the owners are on their once a year trip the Philippine's, they're almost always open. I do enjoy their Wonton Soup and their Beef Balamaki but that's about it. Any of their other food is always served with a combination of way too hot or still frozen/cold, which means they don't cook their food to order. Majority of the items I ordered were greasy as well and I was nauseated after eating there. read more
