Late night flight and arrived at my hotel hungry, hoping to find a place to eat. Stumbled on this place and it was a HUGE success!!!! Hole in the wall spot was busy on a Thursday night at 11pm. Walked in and a young man behind the counter was tending to boiling pots and let me know the menu: 1 - Potato dumplings 2 - Meat dumplings Keep it simple right?!!! Went with the meat dumplings and a can of Diet Coke for just $11!!! Food far exceeded expectations. Dumplings were delicious and the sauce was spicy (which I love). What a delicious late night meal!

This place was recommended by our tour guide and quoted $9 for 20 dumplings. This is a small restaurant that only serves Russian dumplings and also expresso coffees. I have tasted pelmeni in San Diego from someone who makes them from their home. These were good although seasoned differently. You definitely get your money's worth imo. It takes about 5-8 minutes but come steaming hot. I really like the marbled bread as it was super soft (from being in a container of steamed dumplings?). I do recommend you try these and I didn't feel it was a touristy "must try" stop. Service was genuine and looked like locals came for the dumplings too.

With Talking Heads playing (and hundreds of old records on the shelves), and only five tables, I had a great meal today at pel'meni. Known by locals as a after-bar place for a delicacy, I went at 2PM on a Friday, elbowed myself into a table, ordered a root beer and a clam box filled with meat dumplings with butter and curry powder. Side of sour cream. Cooked to order. Delightful service. Great energy to this place. Loved the experience from start to finish. Service, yes, Ambiance, yes. Food, oh my yes. And good value at $11 for the dumplings and the soda. Good deal! Ate my way through Alaska, and as much as I like the cuisine over all in Anchorage, this spot in Juneau rivals the top of my state list. When I'm next in the area, this is my new go-to here, for sure. Highly recommend. Really. Very enthusiastic recommendation.

We got the beef, and the potato ones. They are both so good!! We were in Juneau for a few days and should have gone here daily. So so good !!! We got the curry powder on the side and my husband and daughter added it to theirs. Everyone check this place out

Record corner & cooler case (don't forget your sour cream!)

We were in port for the day, and my nephew reaaaaallly wanted to try Russian dumplings. Having no idea what to expect, we meander along the way until Yelp says we've arrived. This one-room eatery is very... Alaskan- in all the best ways! Super informal; someone was leaning in the windowsill of an open window when we arrived. There were a dozen orders ahead of ours, and one employee (recently trained, he casually explained) who was doing all the work. The menu is very simple- homemade dumplings + whatever you'd like as topping. Pre-measured servings of sour cream wait in the cooler case by the vintage record & extensive record collection. Nothing was spinning while we were there but it seems as though it's still in service. We ordered 2 beef dumplings with no cilantro but all the other options, and got to watch the employee do all the work- it's amazing to see the process! Within 15 minutes we had freshly cooked dumplings in to-go containers (that's all they offered) and were on our way back to the ship. I have very little experience with Russian food, but I know what's yummy, and these dumplings were so great! Tender dough, juicy filling, and the toppings were surprisingly good foils to the richness of the broth & meat (yeah, I got the sriracha). Not sure if I'll ever be back in Juneau, but the next time I see Russian dumplings on the menu, I'm certainly going to order them!

While visiting Juneau, Alaska, I tried Russian dumplings for the first time! Russia owned Alaska originally but sold it during a war to raise money, so there is still some Russian culture in certain areas of Juneau. The dumplings were soft and we had one batch with potato centers and one with beef centers. The sauce at the bottom tasted like a sriracha and vinegar mix and the dumplings were topped with some cilantro. I was happy to try something new and these dumplings were a perfect snack after a long bike ride!

They have two things. Beef or potato type dumplings. The girl in the front was really nice and explained everything to us. It comes with cilantro, hot sauce, and curry powder. It was fire! Very good.

Comfort food that I can't get enough of the dumplings. I have tried both the potato or beef. I love the sour cream and the curry powder.

    Ask the Community - Pel'meni

Does anyone know if they make their Pel'meni in house or buy them from a supplier? Also, I cant seem to get the phone number provided on here to work. Any ideas on how I could get in touch with a manager or the owner? Help me out here Alaska!!

They use to make it in house (many years ago), they opened another shop down south and that is most likely where they are making the dumplings now. I'm not sure if Dave is still the owner.
