This broth is truly healing when it's cold outside! Made with pork belly, cabbage and green beans, this hearty version of sinigang is one of my favorites! Lechon Kawali: there really is no way to go wrong with fried pork belly! Freshly fried and crispy! Beef kare kare: served with eggplant and green beans, everything smothered in a thick peanut sauce. If you like your kare kare a bit on the funky, ask for the house made housemade bagoong. It's pungent! Bicol Express: a bit on the saucy side than what I am used to but had great flavor and not too spicy. Longanisa: not sure if they were made in-house but they are yummy and fatty! The place always seems quite empty but most of their business it seems is from togo orders. Is this an indication of faster service? Or is it because the food is worse? We ended up picking a pork skewer to compare. Pork Skewer ($8) - The first piece I ate seemed to be superior to the Carillo's version - still with the sticky sweet savory sauce, but a fattier and juicier piece of meat in the center. Subsequent pieces destroyed my initial impression. This business seems to be using very low quality cuts of meat, filled with fat and gristle, making the meat very difficult to chew and eat. In addition, some pieces of the meat taste old, as if they are close to rotting, kind of a nasty flavor that made me not want to finish the skewer. I guess the only real advantage as that the skewers they serve are larger than that of Carillo's? (2/5) Well, I certainly learned why the blue tent had a longer line... The sisig was a smallish portion wrapped in foil but it was really delicious. This version tasted different than others I've had at restaurants and there was a definite spicy kick to it. The lumpia and turon were also quite good with a crispy outer shell and plentiful filling. Service was friendly and it took a few minutes for the lumpia and sisig to be ready for us and the turon was premade so we only needed to grab one from the stack on the cart. Since Bernadette's is a food cart, you could say the ambiance is the surrounding port area which is a scenic place to sit off to the side and eat your tasty meal.

The lady at the counter was super friendly and conversed well. And serve was speedy. There are table and chairs outside in addition to a little bench where the Wifi is. It's the experience I really enjoy, the staff is friendly and the food is good. Their menu rotates quite a bit and you have to be open minded going in and willing to try new/different stuff. My favorite dish is Bikol Express, Pork with coconut milk and some zest. Taro leaves, sweet and sour wings and adobo are also wonderful. I usually avoid adobo, pancit and spring rolls because our town is overrun with those Filipino staples, but adobo is good none the less. I also enjoy the TVs with the goofy(by American standards) shows, the mixed in English you can barely tell what's going on. This is not a fine dining restaurant, it's very much a hole in the wall experience, don't expect much else. the $10 2 item meal also comes with soup, but you have to ask for it. I went to a place before this and they were closed so I was in a desperate, bordering hungry, mood. I really wanted either French toast or Waffle and chicken. Chicken because most places around don't have non pork breakfast meat. Their Chicken and waffle is "hot honey" and I didn't want that. By the end, because they didn't have the right buttons for me to order what I wanted vs. their combos I ended up with a soggy waffle with an egg on top, I don't eat eggs and the smell makes me nauseous, and they didn't have to-go cutlery or any syrup for the waffle. I was in tears on my way to my car. I was stressed and starving and this was just a last straw. Very disappointing for a place that is usually great.
