The food arrived hot and fresh, all items were correct, and they even included cutlery and napkins which I really appreciate these days. My mother ordered the chicken tikka masala and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the chicken vindaloo (medium), which was flavorful and delicious. One of the items we ordered that was a standout for everyone was the Mango Lassi . Every single person in our group ordered one, and we all loved it. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. Typical Indian place in a plaza - though the front doors are interesting. There are 2 and you can't really tell which one you should enter/exit through, lol. A friend and I were seated quickly, and provided menus. I knew I wanted mango lassi and ordered that. We decided to split beef samosas and garlic naan. I went with a veggie saag dish but asked for it extra spicy. The mango lassi was amazing, it was hard to stop myself from chugging it. The beef samosas were well made, perfectly flaky, however, I realized in that moment I prefer veggie samosas. The entrees arrived and my dish smelled amazing. I tried my best to spoon rice onto my plate, but the rice was oddly stacked high on a plate and would just tumble down like an avalanche. I prefer my rice in a bowl. So, my saag dish, while well prepared and was hot, was lacking flavor to me due to the spice used to provide the heat I wanted. And that's on me. I realized this meal that I should get maybe medium spice at most, then ask for whatever their version of "hots" is on the side. Overall, it was a very pleasant visit. Service was amazing. Never have I ever had Indian food like "Little India Café." I had a wonderful meal. The ambiance was inviting, with friendly staff that made me feel right at home. The menu offered a variety of dishes, including seafood. Everything I tried was fresh and flavorful. I particularly loved the Samosa Chaat and Shrimp Pakora (which was cooked to perfection, nothing compares to chickpea batter). Interesting... That's the best way to describe this restaurant. We wanted to support local business and decided to try this based on the reviews of others. The service was amazing. I just want to say that off the bat. The folks that come to this place really love this place and that says a lot. So we decided to try some dishes we may not have ordinarily tried, and then one that is tried and true. We got the vegetarian korma, the crab, Malabar, and the chicken dish that was a fusion between Indian and Chinese food. The vegetarian Cormel was as expected for me, the flavor was great, I got it mild, and it was delicious. The crab Malabar... It just wasn't what I thought it would be. It was very saucy, which I like, but the crab flavor with the coconut just was not hitting. It was a little on the sweet side, which, if you eat blue crabs, you know that they're a bit on the sweet side. So that mix with the coconut that's kind of sweet just through me off. Again, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good, nor would I get it again. Just not my thing even though I love crab. We also got this other chicken dish. That sounded interesting because any type of food fusion sounds interesting to me. But the taste just was not hitting. It literally tasted like a Chinese food dish, and the chicken pieces that were used weren't the best. Some or white meat somewhere dark meat, but the dark meat you seem fatty, and that was a turn off for me, the Flavor was just not hitting at all. It was weird, I'm pretty sure other people may have enjoyed it, but for me, it wasn't the best representation of fusion dish with what I thought the flavor should have been. Oh, this place is pretty nice and the customer service is just amazing. We definitely got the treatment, and I hate to ding the food but what we got just wasn't the best. The vegetarian korma was delicious but I have had better and we only tried three dishes and I probably wouldn't come back for the food unless someone was really adamant to want to come here. I think the crap Malibar dish is and the chicken fusion dish are really awesome ideas, but they just need to work on that flavor pallet because it's just not good. If they were able to improve that, this place would not get out the park. I have yet to be to an Indian food place that actually has a crab dish on it so I thought that was super interesting , but the execution needs to be a bit better. Just my two cents. Very nice staff and customer service was exceptional. All the dishes were good with the exception of 1 and that was the fish masala. They used salmon for it and it was particularly fishy. Okay, here we go again. There is no way in the world this restaurant, is still in business ( I guess they prey on unsuspecting tastebuds and wallets like mine). This has to be Little 'Indiana' cafe. Because the food they served me did not taste like any Indian cuisine i've ever had in my life. The vegetables (Aloo Gobi) tasted and looked like somebody boiled a bag of crap and served it in a bowl. The chicken in the Chicken Korma and Tandoori platter was so dry that I had to use 20 toothpicks and a gallon of gatorade to get the meat out of my teeth. Both of these dishes were not traditional Indian flavors at all. In my opinion, the food at this place is disgusting and this restaurant needs to get new recipes and quality ingredients or just throw in the towel. Also, they need to stop serving old food because with the exception of the sauces, all the meat seemed like they were cooked five days ago. (Yes, Little India Cafe, customers can tell the difference between old and fresh food) This restaurant goes on my top ten list of restaurants with Leftovers That Are Not Fit to Feed my Dog. Little India Cafe is not my favorite Indian place. We have to cross the river and pay a toll to get food from here, and personally, I don't think it's worth it. But my boyfriend LOVES the house special biryani (LITTLE INDIA SPECIAL Flavored basmati rice with saffron & nuts & paired with chicken, lamb and shrimp.$19.95) so we had take-away last night because he's been having a hard couple of weeks. Last/First time we ordered from here I got chicken korma (Mildly spiced chicken in our creamy coconut curry with nuts and raisins), which is usually my favorite, but was so disappointing I never wanted to return again. The sauce was good, but the chicken was severely lacking, and when you can get better, elsewhere without paying a toll, I was thinking One&Done. Last night I got the tandoori chicken (Half bone chicken marinated overnight in yogurt and spices roasted in tandoor.$14.95), which is plentiful, affordable, and SO DRY. But, did you know that butter chicken was specifically invented to solve this problem? IT WAS! Look it up!! And, happily enough, butter chicken (Dark meat chicken cooked by tandoor with creamy tomato sauce) is my boyfriend's other fav, so I tore my chicken off the bone and threw it in the butter chicken sauce and everyone was delighted. Can't go wrong with a lassi (Homemade yogurt drink; Mango, Sweet, Salted and Strawberry.$3.95), though I haven't heard of options other than mango, and I am intrigued. The food was delicious - flavorful with spice, and very fresh, fluffy rice. My mango lassie (yogurt smoothie) was colorful and not too sweet. My appetizer of fried mash potatoes was excellent - pairing the sauces is a must. Finally the chicken korma entree was savory and satisfying - big chunks of chicken in coconut, savory sauce. For you drinkers out there, they have a small but well stocked bar and reasonable cocktail prices. Had I not gotten the smoothie to try, my food would have been just over 20$ without tip and I have plenty for lunch tommorrow. I was excited to try this place out so I did a pick up order and the restaurant screwed up my order. They gave me something I absolutely hate instead of what I ordered. Yes, I hate saag paneer. Weird I know. Anyways, I called the restaurant and they did not apologize at all. They did say they would replace the order but it's 25 mins from my house and there are thunderstorms. And it's late and I'm starving and it ruins my evening to go drive another 50 minutes to pick up one dish. He tried to get me to agree that the saag paneer was good. I told him again I did not like it. I asked if they could just do a refund and they told me to contact Beyond Menu or they would give me a free one next time. There will be no next time. I tried the naan because I was starving and both that and the regular naan are dry and hard. They were not at all busy and this should have been an easy check. And any sort of a sorry would have mollified me. Skip it for one of the truly amazing Indian restaurants in the area. Thanks to Rangoli for coming in with the save. Little India Cafe is located in a non-descript shopping center not too far from the intersection of Ordnance Road and Ritchie Highway. When we arrived on a Thursday evening the restaurant was empty so we were a little hesitant but we bravely requested a table for three and had a really nice experience. Although there initially weren't any other diners in the restaurant I was clearly assured the food would be tasty but the non-stop stream of people coming to pick up to-go orders. The three of us shared Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry and Chicken Saag. All were good but the Tikka Masala was our least favorite. But, let's be sure to talk about the naan. We ordered onion naan and it was the best naan I'd ever had. It was a little crispy on the outside but light and airy on the inside with chunks of onion. I should have ordered more to go and tried the garlic naan. I stuck with water but one of my pals washed his meal down with a Taj beer which looked like a good choice. I believe Little India Cafe has a full bar so wine and cocktails were also an option. The ambiance was very casual although there were nice white, crisp tablecloths and napkins which I appreciated. As they've reopened for indoor dining, we came back with our kid. Holding our breath because while he'll happily eat a $40 meat and cheese plate or calamari, Indian food would be new. We knew he'd eat his body weight in naan bread, so there would be that. Promptly seated. The owner (I think) asked my son if he liked mango. Didn't really wait for an answer and brought him a mango lassi. (Cue breath holding) He LOVED it! The owner kidded around with him the whole night. He did eat some chicken tikka masala with me. Hubby enjoyed the chicken vindaloo. We started with a mix appetizer platter. Batter and fry it and I'll eat just about anything. Couldn't tempt the kid though. The chutney and sauces served with were the best. Getting ready to leave and the owner comes out and does like a magic trick where my son was given a gold $1 coin. I would give 6 stars if I could. I took my starving self straight from the airport to this little spot on my way to Baltimore, and ate everything they had to offer. Really, though, their servings were huge, and the food was amazing. Best part: they bring over a little burner to keep your food warm while you eat. Makes you want to take your time and enjoy the food instead of rushing to eat before it gets cold. Service was great, and they even give a small complimentary dessert.
