Crabtowne USA is a seafood restaurant with a twist: A fully functional retro arcade. If they are busy, be prepared to hunt for parking spots as the lots on either side of the restaurant are not big. While I did not dine here, they do have other items then seafood on the menu like burgers, cheesesteaks, hot dogs, tacos, and quesadillas. The arcade uses quarters with change machines available. Pinball machines line the outside of the room with the interior having several rows of arcade cabinets. Machines were almost all in good condition with only a few having issues or being down. They have a good mix of pinball machines including both newer and older options. Many were set to only be .50 to play. Pinball machines that caught my eye included Johnny Mnemonic, Fish Tales, High Speed, The Simpsons 1990, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. I was impressed with the Spy Hunter machine, as it was challenging. Other arcade machines that stood out included Arkanoid, Operation Wolf, several Mortal Kombat versions, and a Rush 2049 sit-down driving cabinet. Came with my family while i was in town. We had tried to get crabs the previous night without luck so we came earlier (around 4:30) to hopefully have better luck. We were able to get 1 1/2 dozen jumbo crabs and split between the four of us. It was just what I wanted. We also got some hush puppies which were also good. And we tried the bruschetta appetizer. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy, so we decided to play some arcade games before lunch. That turned out to be a mistake because by the time we were ready to eat, there was a wait. We were told it would be about 15 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 25. The arcade room was quite dark, which made playing pinball difficult. When I asked a staff member if the lights could be turned on, she explained that the owner prefers to keep them off. I hope they reconsider, as better lighting would make the arcade much more enjoyable. There are single-occupancy restrooms near the arcade that were much less busy than those by the main dining area. Since our last visit, we also learned that the former liquor store next door has been converted into an overflow dining room when the main restaurant is busy, and it's also used for private events. Despite the wait, Angie, our server, was excellent. She was personable, attentive, and even happy to take a group photo for us. The food was great. I especially enjoyed the Old Bay wings, rockfish tenders, soft shell crab sandwich, and waffle fries. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal, and we look forward to returning. read more

Have been to Crabtowne several times and have always enjoyed the food. But my last visit was disappointing. Ordered a dozen XL crabs. The first crab I broke into was wet and mushy. Went to the next crab, the same. At first I thought it was a fluke but every crab I ate was the same. The waitress ask if I wanted to take the remainder of the crabs. I told her no and how bad they were. She could see the paper and the table were extra wet and ask if she could take one back and try. She had the same experience. Never offering any type of compensation except a piece of cake. Very disappointing for crabs that were inedible. Will not be getting crabs from Crabtowne any time soon! read more

First off, let's address the elephant in the room. Or should I say mouse. Yes. I saw one run in the eating area while in the arcade. Keep that in mind if you decide to eat here. Arcade Lots of cool games from my youth. I remember going to the local movie theater and playing several games they have available. Awesome to see my kids enjoying the same ones. Most are only a quarter while a few are .75. You can buy quarters at the bar and they have a quarter machine that takes up to $20 in the game room. Dining has always been hit or miss. We've been here at least 10 times for meals. My wife LOVES the half and half. The hush puppies are amazing, as is the fish sandwich snd fish and chips. As with any place, there have been some negatives. A waitress once completely forgot about my food. My entire family was served while I was left sitting there wondering when my order would arrive. They did nothing to make it right. They now have a 3% fee for credit cards. We hadn't been in a while so not sure if this is a new policy. Even debit cards are charged this, which seemed wrong. Bring cash if you want to avoid it. Also, they hit on my pet peeve, paying for refills. I don't know if it's the case for all drinks, but my lunch special came with a pop/soda. Refills were $1. Seriously!? Anyone who knows about drinks and food places knows it costs maybe 5 cents for the syrup. Drinks are often the biggest money marker. For them to charge $1 for each refill, especially if they're already charging $3-4 in thr first place, is madness. Again, might be because of my lunch special, but one dollar for a refill just seems wrong. If you can get past the mouse and questionable upcharges, this is actually a cool place to hang out and eat. read more

Ordered 3 dozen XL extra large crabs decided to grab a quick lunch while waiting. Front Host says you must have a waitress put in the order. I get fish & chips (only) while waiting. Bill is now over $500.00 & she tried to get me to sign off with $120.00 tip pre selected. Paid the bill took the crabs to an event crabs. Opened the bags the crabs were old, small and maybe mediums. This place maybe good for local dine in only but never again will I order crabs to go. A full blown RIP OFF. read more

Cream of crap soup was perfect and had large chunks of crab, and the Chesapeake chicken with Alfredo was delicious! I went with some friends to this spot to celebrate the end of my summer semester. A couple of our friends have been here before and highly recommended it and I see why! We sat at the bar to get some drinks and food. Our bartender was April and she was very friendly and attentive to our group. We tried a variety of food including blackened ahi tuna (some of the best I've had!), clam strips (delicious, light batter, tender, nice tartar sauce), mac and cheese, hush puppies (fantastic), and more. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. We then headed into the arcade. They have lots of pinball and retro games. The games are quarter based; bring your own or there is a change machine and atm (fees apply). You can also give cash to your bartender/server for quarters. It's not the prettiest spot, but the food absolutely slaps and the prices are very reasonable, which makes up for a lot. My favorite parts are their weekly trivia nights and the arcade -- both are a lot of fun and give the place a lively, laid-back feel. There's also a bar area with a decent ambiance, though I usually stick to the dining side. The staff are consistently nice and friendly, which helps the overall experience. My only complaint is that they charged us for using a credit card, so be prepared. Finding this to be more common now. Jeremy is adopted. When he found his birth family, his brother (who had been living across the street from us for about 7 years) had moved to North Dakota before we met him. And then he died. However, we spoke on the phone with Josh many, many times, and during one of those conversations we were talking about crabs - and how much Josh missed them. So I asked him where he liked to eat, when he still lived here, and Crabtowne was one of his top places. Ever since then, I have been wanting to check it out, especially when I did some research and learned about their arcade room. How quirky!! We finally went last Sunday (sorry for the delay in reviewing. It's been a helluva a week), with a friend who had gone to high school with Josh, and her husband. An even more ridiculous bit of the brothers story is that we went to North Dakota for Josh's funeral. It took four days of traveling by car. It was the first time Jeremy met his birth father, and nephew, but it was also the first time we met many of Josh's friends. So many amazing people drove halfway across the country to honor Josh, and met his brother who lives in their same neighborhood, including the above mentioned friend from high school. What a complex way to make friends! Jeremy and I arrived early, because we're impatient people, which worked out because there was a bit of a wait because it was Sunday evening in the summer in Maryland and Crabtowne has steamed crabs (imagine that!). We sat at the bar and had drinks while we waited for a table to open up. The bartender was great! Friendly and fun. We ended up talking about her pen collection (she has some good ones, let me tell you, including glittery ones!) and how she'll chase people down if they try to take them. Some locals were also at the bar, and I enjoyed talking to them as well. We didn't have to wait long for our table, and were able to order drinks for our friends so they could enjoy as soon as they sat down. There was some kind of Shark Bite drink on special, that was blue and had a gummy shark in it, and was tasty enough that more were ordered. They were out of cream of crab. Apparently this is common for Sundays, and I'll accept that, but if a place consistently sells out of an item on a specific day, I feel like maybe they should make more on that day, but Crabtowne certainly isn't hurting for making more money. I ended up eating the hush puppies that came as a side with Jeremy's Scallop and shrimp dish. They were exactly what I needed in life. Perfection. Jeremy also gave me a taste of both the scallop and a shrimp, both were beautifully cooked. The kind of thing that you wish you could just sit there and eat for an hour, but you only get 5 of each. I also ate his mashed potatoes, which were fine, but could have used a sauce, gravy or something to loosen them. He also got a cheeseburger, which I did not taste (so it must have been good because it disappeared before I realized I should ask for a taste) and some VERY good fries. I actually didn't pay much attention to what our friends ordered or how much they enjoyed their meals. That tells you how good the drinks were, I guess. I used to come here in the 90s. It's definitely a staple in the community and it brought me back to times we could play the arcade games here all day after school. My homegirl works here and it's her family's business. I really can't say anything negative about it, but it's a solid 4 stars for me. There are 2 sides to this place, one side has the arcade games and pinball machines. I was on the other side at the bar, in front of the TV watching the game. This occurred January 4th because I was watching the Ravens at home against the Browns. The Long Island was good, probably a little too sweet, but good. I couldn't drink it all. The wings were a good size and really hot. The crab fries was good and enough for 2 people and I couldn't eat it all. The customer service was top notch. The environment was great and I will be back to rate my arcade game experience. read more

Anyway - this place, for what it was, was decent.To be straight forward, I probably wouldn't return. The mussels were average - layered in a white sauce that wasn't bad, but wasn't.. good ya know? Just ehh, okay. The calamari was good, crunchy. And the suggested crabcake sandwich, weird. Not in taste per say, but aesthetic lol. See attached pictures. Would you believe this was my first time ever stopping in Glen Burnie? Driven by it many times constantly seeing the highway sign, but I've never stopped there proper! A friend of mine suggested swinging by this spot for happy hour, and of course I'm always down for somewhere new! It was late afternoon and the parking lot was already full! They have happy hour from 4-7 on weekdays, and includes drinks and food. Game day specials are even crazier -- they have $2.75 margaritas! There are three bars -- two on the front side and one other (and plenty more seating) all the way in the back. I sat at the bar, which filled up fast, and I got a Bee Sting, which was like a Twisted Tea with moonshine. It was tasty! I then got the seasonal mule, which had Razzmatazz in it. Nice flavor profile! There happened to be an oyster shucker present that day, so I got a dozen of those for $1 each -- there were 3 different kinds! What I was not prepared for was the middle room -- A WHOLE ARCADE!!! The games ranged from 25 cents to 75 cents, and I played something I never have before -- Gyruss!! I really had fun! It was a hefty selection too -- probably the best retro arcade scene I have seen in Maryland so far! All this to say... I'm coming back. For food, drinks, games... all the things!!! After a particularly long day at work, hubby and I decided to hit a happy hour. We grabbed the kids from the school bus and used Yelp to find a spot. Crabtowne was advertising "Thursday $1 Wings". We knew they had the arcade for the kids so we opted to go there. I am beyond happy that we did! The staff was friendly, the service was awesome, great food and drink specials (HH was 3pm-6pm), everything was tasty, multiple TVs to keep you occupied, lottery games available for purchase while you dine in, and the arcade was full of nostalgic machines like pinball & Mr. & Mrs. Pac Man! It was definitely a HAPPY hour for my whole family and I! I also love that you can purchase steamed crabs individually because I just wanted to taste them, (And they were served fresh, piping hot, and delicious!). This was my first visit to this restaurant and I will own that it was my mistake going here on Mother's Day. That being said, we were greeted, seated and waited on promptly. When looking over the menu, I saw a notice at the bottom of the menu that said there would be a 3% surcharge on credit card purchases. The friendly waitress verified that this was indeed true and correct. We ordered a dozen of the medium sized male crabs. The price was $100 per dozen of these sized crabs which I assume is about right for this time of year. They were brought out quickly enough and my initial response to the server was "are these crabs even legal size?" Of the 13 crabs that were delivered, 4 were decent, full and delicious. The rest of the crabs were very light, soggy (waterlogged) and one crab was out and out bad. It is my feeling and my opinion that we were given crabs from the bottom of the cook pot that had been sitting in water all day long. Adding a 3% surcharge for using a credit card is a rip off for the customer. Who carries that kind of cash around with them anymore? This place is fun. They have a huge arcade place on the side and the restaurant is very spacious. Our server, Courtney (if I recall) was very helpful. Three of us decided to order a dozen medium crabs. It took awhile but the crabs came out warm. They give you mallets and a bucket to discard the shells. The medium seemed small so I can't imagine what the smalls are like. They were tasty. We didnt order anything from the regular menu but there were a bunch of customers who ordered and it looked good. This was my first time at Crabtowne but definitely not my last. I love the fact that there was an arcade with reasonably priced games and lots of pinball machines in the middle of the restaurant between the two dining areas. The fact that you could go and play games while waiting for your crabs to arrive or any other food items was amazing. I found old school games from my childhood there and also pinball machines I hadn't seen for years. The food was good, although the crab prices were outrageous. $170 per dozen of the extra large steamed crabs! We got two dozen and can't believe we spent that much on steamed crabs. I'm not sure if that's the going rate for these big huge crabs or not because I haven't had many opportunities to eat steamed crabs in the recent past. They did have a special on their door that day which was $100 for two dozen small male crabs, and we could have gone that route, but we would have needed it a lot more than that for the four of us that ate crabs. Crabs. We would have required probably at least four dozen crabs if not more and therefore it wouldn't have been any better with any cost savings. The bowl of crab soup that I had before the steamed crabs arrived was excellent. It had jumbo lump crab meat in it and it was seasoned well and tasted delicious. I would get that again in a heartbeat. The hush puppies were also very good. I didn't have any other appetizers or entrees because the crabs did it for me. But other members of our party had burgers and Mexican food and other things that just looked really good. I didn't taste any of the other dishes but visually things look great. As far as drinks, most of us had water but I did have a 16 oz national Bohemian draft which was wonderful and really inexpensive considering everything else. As a matter of fact, looking at the alcohol menu, prices were very reasonable, much more so than other places that I frequent where I live. Our service was outstanding. Our server though having only been there for 3 weeks, was really good and knowledgeable. Everyone else who came to deliver the crabs or bring us some of our meal was very personable and friendly and nice and wanted to assist with anything we needed. I will definitely be back. Probably to have more steamed crabs and also play a lot more arcade games. I got there much later than everyone else and therefore I didn't get a chance to play the games as much as I would have liked to. I did take out here for steamed crabs and the employee over the phone was extremely patient with me even though I was having trouble hearing her and I had to constantly have her repeat what she said. She was so kind! I ordered half a dozen steamed crabs and shrimp, Maryland crab dip in a bread bowl, large fires and a burger that also came with some fries. Their steamed crabs are cooked FRESH and I can tell because it was very moist and hot even after the drive home. Their fries are thick cut steak fries and their crab dip was delicious and full of crab meat. Their shrimp came with shrimp dip that had a lot of horseradish in it, and I loved it!! There is plenty of parking here and the inside has an arcade and a bar. The ambiance is very casual. Man, it was our first time here, and it was a pleasant surprise. Lots of diversity in the staff. Hats off to the owners/managers. Great service from the bartender, even if she was new! We had her suggestion of the crab fries, which were massive! We should have stopped there because we mainly came for the games. We ordered a few more apps and some steamed shrimp. All the food was spectacular for glen burnie! We ranked it as follows: crab fries, steamed shrimp, Brussel sprouts, hush puppies, and corn on the cob. I was craving a sweeter sauce with the hush puppies, but (the horseradish? in the given sauce) was a little too strong for our taste. If you like horseradish, you will love all their sauces! We unfortunately picked a really busy area of the restaurant to sit in. We sat the first hightop table out of the kitchen where it was quite the hotspot for guests, food runners, and a tight squeeze for everyone walking past us, lol. Down home atmosphere is what you experience when you enter Crabtowne. The customer service is friendly and helpful. We ordered a galore of items to try. For appetizers, I ordered the rock fish tenders and the crab dip fries. The rock fish was cooked fresh and with a lemon squeeze was perfect. The crab loaded fries included plenty of crab meat. For entrees we ordered 1/2 of medium blue crabs which were steamed fresh and tasted well. The crabs were meaty. The recommended entree the seared scallops were a little underwhelming. The steam delight (I think it's called this) which includes 1 cluster of snow crab legs, shrimp, and red potatoes unfortunately was lukewarm. The Brussels sprouts are a highlight for me.
