Horrible customer service, gave us the wrong order as well and the front cashier had a very rude tone with me when I was ordering. Almost as if she didn't want I take my order. Little J's had a remodel this last year and it's so big inside now! This is now a great spot to go for a remote worker, or to meet up with friends. The coffee bar area is very cool and they have plenty of awesome coffee, espresso, tea and other options s for folks to enjoy. That area is separate now of the bakery area. You can place an order for coffee at the bakery counter, but it's cool that they have it separate because I think it does speed up efficiency with getting orders complete, especially for someone who o ly wants a baked good or only wants a drink. As far as baked goods are concerned, I truly love the quiche here. I've had different types and they are always very tasty and hold together well. they charge $4 for a tiny cupcake that most likely cost $.15 cents to make and I got black coffee from there and it kinda tastes like super cheap coffee you get from Kroger's. they had very little selection in desserts. The atmosphere at Little J's is nice; warm lighting, plenty of seating, and even a fireplace. I love how open and spacious it feels. However, the lack of music makes the space feel awkwardly quiet, especially with only a few people talking. As for service, we came in for a quiche and a bowl. The quiche came out quickly and was delicious since it was already prepared, but the bowl took nearly 20-30minutes and the portion was tiny despite the café being nearly empty. I noticed staff eating in the kitchen and behind the bakery. They ended up serving the group who ordered after we did, which was really disappointing. They said it was a glitch in the system but It just seems like the kitchen is a bit disorganized. read more

This place can get pretty busy! But I will say that I felt that the crew hustled to get in and out the orders in a reasonable time. The service was wonderful, very friendly. I really enjoyed my iced coffee and the bakery treats! The price was reasonable! Great place to come in for your sweet or salty tooth. SO many flavors; my favorite are hazelnut and brown sugar. During the holidays, I love white chocolate peppermint. I was a loyal Starbies girl until I discovered this place. Their expresso is the only one that rivals SB for strongness without a bitter taste. I now order one 3-4 times a week before starting my work day; happiness and energy in a cup! - Biscuits and sausage gravy: Served on Fridays and Saturdays. Highly flavorful and easy to order to-go or stay. All homemade! - Quiches: They sell individual size quiches in 1-2 flavors that change daily or every other day. You can order ahead a whole quiche as well. I'm not a fan of eggs or quiches normally, but holy cow, can we say MOIST?! Their quiches fall apart in your mouth. Made daily, poppin' flavors, and make great leftovers if you want to buy a few for the week. Their cinnamon rolls are legit and I've enjoyed their keto biscuits for something different at home too. The only (minor) downsides are they are closed on Sundays and have one food & drink line/register, so it can be annoying to wait in line when you only want to order a drink and others are there for the bakery. Pros: I was cleaning out a drawer at work, and I threw away what I thought was trash, but it turned out to be a muffin from this place. I could tell my coworker was a little annoyed about it. Thank God they still had the muffins available and that they were open after work hours. I was able to get her another one and bring it to her the next day. Service was decent. Really unremarkable. Cons: one time on Star Wars day, another coworker brought in cookies from this shop. It was so nice of her, but the cookies were not very good. Stopped by while road tripping, and it was the best choice I made! You walk in and the smell of fresh baked goods slaps your right in the face. It was the best overwhelmed feeling of picking what was going to go with my coffee. They had many seasonal and specialty coffees and I went with their campfire latte. As always, the baked goods are the reason to go. Service on the other hand, especially if you want coffee, is a major disconnect and super slow. Most important is the disconnect as the coffee is not served any time close to the time of delivery of baked goods to the table. There is a small dirty little dark corner where you can sit for a few minutes to wait on your coffee. It is not worth the wait. My first visit to Little J's was Friday and it won't be my last! The service is exceptional, friendly and helpful counter staff and barista. This staff is on the ball, they work together and cover for each other to ensure prompt delivery to their customers. I actually felt like they were glad I was there! The food, let me tell you about the pastries! I had a Cinnamon Pecan Twist and it is one of the best pastries I've ever had. They also serve cinnamon rolls, scones, muffins and much more and it all looked so good! They have a good assortment of pies and cookies - and the cookies I brought to bring home were absolutely delicious. Drip coffee is Topeka and it was perfect! I also had an egg burrito with sausage and their salsa may be house made - it looks fire roasted. So good! They have small and large cookies, the small cookies are only $1.15 and these are average size cookies so it is a good value - I'm used to paying $3 to $5 for a larger cookie elsewhere BUT this way you can try 2-3 different ones for the same money. They also have mini cinnamon rolls and scones (may be only by the dozen) but I love a place that offers smaller portions. The interior service area is fairly small but they have some limited seating for you to wait for your order or for singles to even eat in. I think this may change as they are expanding next door - into the space that used to be Bluestone Steakhouse. I highly recommend Little J's Bakeshoppe. Check them out! read more

I'm totally in love with this place! The restaurant is a great start up with fresh baked...everything! The berry pie is all homemade berry filling, no jars or fillers. It's super tall too. Quite the feat if you've ever attempted baking your own! One of my personal faves is the berry scone with a light honey glaze. It seems like a marriage between cake and biscuit. Delicious and moist, yet fluffy. I always take it heated (usually recommended by staff). Add a a latte or a fresh cup of their local bottomless drip coffee and I'm in heaven! Don't leave without grabbing a few of their cinnamon rolls. I love them because they're the right size at the right price point (under two bucks). Again, recommend it heated. Oh man I almost forgot one of the best parts! The breakfast burritos. They're so filling and fantastic flavor. They are made to order with fluffy eggs, creamy cheese and your choice of sausage or Canadian bacon. Request a side of salsa for added flavor. I do wish the restaurant was in a better location (hidden from Sheridan in aging mall). Also, the layout of the restaurant is a challenge. It's difficult to maneuver through the seating if anybody is already seated. But rumor has it that they may move (or at least acquire nearby space). Here's hoping. Overall, you have to try this place. Great food. Attentive staff. Let's make them a success so they can grow to the restaurant this place needs to be! read more

I've tried to be so supportive of local businesses during this time and have genuinely spent $100s of dollars at this bakery but every time I try to give them second chances it gets worse. And I tip almost EVERY time. The service is HORRIBLE. The employees are rude and short. Today they made me the wrong drink and instead of correcting it immediately- they made the patron behind me's drink first, didn't apologize and this was AFTER a 20 minute wait. This little locally owned coffee shop is a coffee drinker's/breakfast lover's dream. The front case itself is full of giant muffins with incredible toppings, pastries, brownies, etc. But then you look up and realize they can make you different varieties of eggs bowls and burritos. All kinds of warm breakfast goodness. I had the egg burrito with bacon & hash. They also offer you salsa with it. It was heavenly. But what's a coffee shop without trying the coffee? I got a "Big" sized Mocha Latte. Also pleasantly surprised that the coffee was just the right temperature to drink right away. Some coffee shops start at a temp so hot you have to let it sit for 30 mins. Now, anything Mocha has a tendency to be way too bitter in a lot of coffee shops. I've had similar coffees at Hodges Bend, Starbucks, and Lagom. Though each of these are loved by many, none of these shops ever seem to get the Mocha/flavor balance quite right. Little J's in the first to really make a truly delicious, balanced Mocha Latte. So kudos. The service was fast and pleasant. Everyone was working together and happy to help. I may not be an enormous coffee drinker, but this shop now has a repeat customer. If you love coffee and commute in this area, I highly recommend you give this little shop a shot. They're in the strip mall behind the jewelry store at 101st & Sheridan. You won't be sorry. read more
