If i would have wrote this review a few years ago, or even a month ago, I probably would have went 5 star. But after today's lunch they had to go down at least a star, maybe two. I had their chicken Caesar salad. I've eaten a lot of chicken Caesar salads in a lot of different places and that was one of the worst ones I've ever had. The lettuce wasn't chopped into small enough pieces, there was barely any chicken and what was there was nasty, and the dressing was mediocre at best. They did put on a lot of parmesan, yay for that at least. Oh AND it was just plopped into a to-go box so you had to eat it straight out of the box, which was just weird. I choked it down because I was at work and didn't have a lot of other options, but it was terrible. I'd always gotten their sandwiches before and they were really good. My wife likes their wraps too, and of course the desserts are delicious. So next time I'll go back to sandwiches and skip the nasty salad. read more

Love this little cafe. They have take out and dine in. My husband always gets the gobbler sandwich, it's a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and some other toppings. I usually try something different, I've tried maybe 6 different sandwiches and they're always great. My favorite is to customize a sandwich, picking the bread, meat and toppings. The service is always friendly and quick. Even when it's busy the wait is usually only 10-15 mins tops but closer to about 5 minutes everytime I've been. I was really craving soul and this place rated very well for that on Yelp....except...I guess they discontinued a lot of hot menu items...including soup, during the pandemic. They also did not even have coffee! I opted for an egg salad sando with a side of potato salad. Honestly...it was ok...but definitely neither was worth coming back for. I did chat with a gentleman whom I think was an owner...he told me that since Covid they are mostly a delivery model lunch spot. This is another place that has very good reviews that I have long been curious about. I decided to get lunch to go. Online ordering is very easy to navigate. I went with a "Sandwich Bag Lunch" and selected the Italian Submarine as my sandwich. I didn't change anything to the sandwich except ask that tomatoes be omitted. I picked macaroni salad as my side, the default chips (Tim's Chips), an oatmeal M&M cookie and added a Pepsi. All of this came to $14.08 before tip. The curbside pickup went smoothly, and I was indeed ready to dig in once I made it home. The sandwich was simple, but tasty. The bread was soft, and the Italian dressing was perfectly portioned: it complimented rather than dominated. The salami, provolone and Parmesan cheeses all were hearty and fresh. The pickles were a nice counterpoint to all the richness, I really liked them here. The chips were standard and tasty. The macaroni salad was lightly dressed in a yummy mayo/mustard sauce that had sweet pickles and red onions. The pickles provided a great bitey note. There were a lot of red onion chunks, but they were easy to eat around since I'm not a huge fan of raw onions. The cookie appeared to be an oatmeal chocolate chip instead of the M&M one I ordered. Not a big deal, they might have been out. It was huge! Chewy and flavorful, it rounded out the meal nicely. Speaking of this meal, it was a lot of food! I'll be full for a while, and the price wasn't too bad for the amount of food that you get. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu items at this great lunch spot. read more

I recently went into their location to place a large order for a medical staff and was referred to the "manager". I believe this manger to be one of the owers (male). I tried to explain to him what I wanted to do and place an order. He cut me off, was rude, and refused to take my order. He straight out told me he would not take my order and demanded I go home and use his website. This is the type of business that has lost it's way and makes this world a worse place. I was at a company event today that used Little Lois. I had heard a lot about the company and was looking forward to trying them. It is a bag lunch that you order ahead of time. I ordered the Italian sandwich with no tomato. So of course my sandwich had tomato on it. I also ordered the fruit instead of chips. The sandwich was ok but the fruit was inedible. I also had the rice crispy treat which was odd. I was overly moist and not in a good way. My coworker said her sansandwich was ok but her fruit was also inedible and her dessert was overcooked and dry. read more

Upon entering the restaurant and walking up to the register, you are given the menu and are to place an order with the cashier. They will call your number when your order is ready. The sandwiches and Thai salad were good. We wished they offered soups too. As far as desserts we ordered the pumpkin bar, lemon cloud bar, banana cake and the peanut butter chocolate cup. The gentleman on the phone was tremendously helpful as I decided what to order, from Little Lois's favorite sandwiches, to delicious salads, to delightful desserts. They have variety of options for vegetarian meals. I had created a custom sandwich. It had mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and Swiss cheese. The cucumber and tomatoes were still frozen. There are side salad and dessert options. I had used Uber Eats to order this meal and it was around $17 for this sandwich with chips and a drink. I've been in twice and can't speak for the entirety of their huge menu. Nothing so far has really knocked me out and I patronize this venue more for the urbex vibe, the quiet unhurriedness, and the very nice staff, especially welcoming for seniors or businessmen who wish to linger without being pressured to leave. This is a part of town with atmospheric venues, like the Urban Grange and the Reader's Guide, that I patronize for a different experience from across the river. If you're not into West Salem or exploring a large menu after setbacks, I can understand the critical reviews. read more

I have lunch ordered from Little Lois every time I'm in Salem for work (my coworkers love this place too), and I look forward to my custom, tasty meal, packed with care (since it's ordered in advanced). I also love how every person's name is on their lunch bag...just like little ones! For $10, you get a sandwich, side, water, chips, and dessert...a complete meal. This is a great value for the quality, I can't emphasize that enough. I just wish they'd move up to Portland! Out of what I've tried, I recommend getting the Pesto Deluxe (turkey and ham sandwich with a nice combination of different sauces), the caesar bow tie with chicken (the best side by far) for your side, and a brownie (so decadent and delicious). What makes this place stand out even more, however, is the fact that everything is packed with care and thoughtfulness. The sandwich ingredients are stacked nicely and the little napkin set you get is so thoughtful. The napkin is thick which is appreciated, and they even put a mini pack of tic-tacs for after your meal! Ultimately, this place just wins. Bonus: the owners are really friendly too! read more

THE cutest place I have ever found on yelp. Family owned and operated. The food was delicious. The service was IMPECCABLE!!!!!! We were there much longer than typical customers and they treated us so kindly during our little family reunion. They have cookies the size of faces, yummy coffee and they even offer lettuce wrapped make your own sandwiches. The tomato soup was yummmmmmm! How do you get a solid 5 star Yelp rating? By serving (and delivering) delicious, fresh, reasonably priced food, and paying attention to every detail. There are a million places that do about the same thing - provide you with a sandwich, a side and a dessert. But Lois just does it better. We came in after the lunch rush, and Lois herself happened to be there to answer our questions about the sides. I asked if the potato salad was creamy. She went to the fridge and opened a container to let me sample it. Because I try to avoid mayo, I passed on the potato salad and went with a Mediterranean pasta salad to go with the Thai Chicken Wrap. But I appreciated the friendly gesture, and I had a feeling she would have let me taste every side til I found one I liked. The variety of sandwiches, sides and desserts to pick from is extensive, and everything was super "made-today" fresh. We had the pumpkin bar, which was delicious without being too rich or too sweet. They're serving Coava coffee, which is top shelf. The branding is pretty cute, well-executed and I would not be surprised to see this company expand to multiple locations.
