a sandwich and fries in a styrofoam container

The definition of a neighborhood spot. If you live in the area I am sure you frequent this spot for the little things you need but also a sandwich here and there. I actually ordered delivery from here since I needed lunch and never had it before. I went with the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was ok. The chicken was a little dry and the sandwich overall wasn't anything to write home about. The sweet potato fries also needed to be cooked a little more. They still had a crunch to them and not in a good way. They do have all sorts of items here so I am sure there is better stuff but this meal didn't do it for me. 3 stars all the way.

This place is truly a gem and the owners were so kind and sweet. You could not ask for better customer service. The food was good as well. I ordered a hero and a blueberry muffin. I will definitely come back.

Ham, double egg and cheese on a roll! Simple and perfect

We order take out from here one a week. Sometimes breakfast, sometimes burger (which are reaaal good) and sometimes that California salad! Their breakfast sandwiches are good, but my go-to breakfast indulgence is their breakfast quesadilla (add bacon, trust me). They also make a bagel with cream cheese, Nutella, walnuts, apples, and raisins. It's RIDICULOUS.

Time and time again this place has been my go-to when I'm running out of Hoboken and need a quick bite to eat. The staff is incredibly friendly and their made to order food is DELICIOUS! They have an extremely varied menu but I usually stick with a staple Egg, Cheese and Tomato sandwich of a Pumpernickel Bagel. YUMM!! Another time I was feeling saucy and decided to get a Tuna-Wrap... YUMMM!!! Aside from the made to order food, they have an ENORMOUS selection of snacks and drinks. This place is PACKED TIGHT and probably can't fit (comfortably) more than five people at a time, but that's never a problem because they are FAST and so is the food! Also, the coffee is GREAT! It's no wonder that even though Dunkin Donuts is literally in the same plaza, it doesn't seem to effect this little markets profits one bit! Make sure you give this place a try, it's worth the stop!

One of the few places around you can get an actually good croissant! I occasionally indulge in the mac & cheese as well. They have an array of fancy-ish sandwiches and entrees. I haven't had a lot of their menu, but they briefly had pizza (maybe they still do?). That I cannot recommend. It was basically a frozen grandma pie with little to no sauces and very thick bread. For a place like this, I was surprised that the liquor prices. are actually better than many of the straight up liquor stores in the area. Interesting craft beer selection that rotates. The beer is actually pricier by comparison than the booze. But it all depends on your taste. I love their beer selection when it's heavy on the IPAs, but when they go heavy on the sours I get a bit sour...

I love that they have outdoor seating, freshly made sandwiches, and so many diverse snacks, beers, and wines to choose from. I called in my order and made my way over, it was just about ready when I arrived. The Murray is a massive sandwich! At ~$14, it's a steal considering this was 2 meals for me. The bread was soft yet held everything together well, it was loaded with turkey and pastrami, and the other ingredients added more flavor and freshness. My only complaint had to be that there wasn't enough sauce (more mayo or something else) as it was a bit dry. They have a bunch of chips to choose from and I loved this Kettle Chips truffle oil & sea salt flavor. The staff is super friendly and helpful too. If you're in the area, I highly recommend supporting this local business!

We came in around 1:30pm on Saturday and there was a line, but I didn't wait longer than 20 minutes. There's really no menu on site, so you can kind of just listen to what people are ordering and figure out what sounds good. Originally, I was going to get two sandwiches, but I saw the size of them and decided we really only needed one full one. I got the gravy on the size, which I definitely recommend if you're going to be eating it even just a little bit later. This worked well for us, as we had about a 20 minute drive home. The mozz was fantastic and so was the roast beef. I would come back just to order both by the pound. I didn't love the bread, so I think my next step would be to just buy all the ingredients myself and then provide my own bread at home. Service was very prompt and friendly.

I've lived in or been visiting NYC since the 60s and never noticed this place. I peeked in and saw that it looked authentic. I made a mental note to come back when dinner time rolled around. I looked over the menu and ordered their namesake, the Cappone: Capicola, Soppressata, Salami, Provolone, Arugula, Mozzarella, Hot Peppers. I asked which bread they recommended (seeded loaf) and went with that. It was an exemplary sandwich. Plus it was enough for 2 meals! I cannot recommend them high enough. 100 stars!

If you like italian sandwiches definitely check this place out. I think after trying several italian sandwich spots I don't think it's necessarily for me but the meatball sub was tasty and definitely worth the money. It's a small mom and pop shop vibe inside and you can order ahead which is great because sometimes the line gets really long especially on the weekends. The people were nice. It's close to a park so you can eat outside with a coffee and enjoy a quick lunch. It's nice to have a place that is a little more no-frills in the west village and you can pick it up on a lazy weekend, in the middle of a workday, etc.

I had been saying for days that I was craving a good Italian deli sandwich, and my partner came across Vito's & Son Italian Deli in Hoboken. Well, it does not get much more authentic than this. What an experience. You know how some Italian restaurants say they make you feel like family? At Vito's, we actually felt it the moment we walked in. The welcome was warm, genuine, and immediate -- the kind of hospitality that cannot be faked. As we browsed the extensive deli menu, I had to ask what "mutz" meant. I am from Chicago, where we usually say "mozz," so this was my first time seeing it written in what I can only call New Jersey-ian. Without hesitation, they gave us a sample of their fresh, in-house-made mozzarella, and it was absolute perfection -- soft, fresh, creamy, and exactly what fresh mozzarella should be. We took several subs to go, and every single one was delicious. I had The Vito's, which was incredibly satisfying -- packed with that classic Italian deli flavor and everything I had been craving in a sub, and then some. My partner had The Sophia Loren, which was also full of flavor and definitely worth ordering again. My mom had what I ordered as a custom Caprese sandwich since I could not find it on the extensive menu -- mutz, fresh basil, tomato, balsamic vinaigrette, and herbs. It was so fresh, simple, and delicious. We also tried the arancini. The traditional one brought back memories of what used to be some of the best arancini in Chicago at Monastero's, which sadly is no longer around. That is not a comparison I make lightly. The cheese arancini was also wonderful, and the sauce was divine. Personal preference: I could have used just a touch more salt in the sauce, but the flavor was still excellent. Of course, we could not leave without dessert. The cannoli had the perfect balance of softness and crunch, and the filling was delicious. And naturally, we had to take home a pound of that fresh mutz. When we got home, we turned the leftovers into the perfect little Italian deli dinner. We thinly sliced the remaining halves of the subs, added fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette, and wine. It became a charcuterie-style dinner that felt like the perfect ending to the trip. Taking a detour through Hoboken was absolutely worth it. Some Italian restaurants claim to treat you like family, but at Vito's & Son, we truly felt it. We are already planning another stop on our next trip because we still need to try the homemade freezer dishes -- and, of course, the homemade tiramisu. If you have not been to Vito's & Son Italian Deli, do yourself a favor and go. Authentic, welcoming, delicious, and completely worth the detour.
