We went here at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon and thought it was closed... luckily, we tried the door and it was just EMPTY, not closed. The place is pretty big inside, and looks like two totally different restaurants conjoined...one side is all vinyl booths and the other all wooden tables and chairs. We opted for a booth. The waitresses were prompt and friendly and brought us a whole carafe of fresh coffee when we ordered two cups (the same way Denny's does). I got a breakfast special with two eggs scrambles, hashbrowns, three strips of bacon and toast. The bacon is super thick, nice and chewy and totally lives up to the stellar reviews here on yelp. They say "your third egg is free" on the menu, and the nice waitress let me order that free egg cooked sunny side up and put on my boyfriends burger! I don't know too many places that will put in that much work on a freebie. My bf got the wig wam something burger, which he dubbed "the brunch burger". It was humongous!!! Hashbrowns, cheese, two big strips of bacon cut giant thick, tomatoes lettuce pickles onions the works. Add a little BBQ sauce and he deemed it an A+, and he is usually a very harsh meat critic. Worth the drive if you live in the south metro area. Great breakfast, known for their super outstanding bacon. They know how to do breakfast right, have to say I've not been there for any other meals. Service is consistently good, always seem to find a table of Minnesota's finest highway patrol enjoying the most important meal of the day. One of the best things about living in Rochester is being able to stop here for breakfast on the way to Gopher games. It is utterly fantastic! In fact, this is about as near to perfection as one can get. The pancakes, the eggs, the bacon, the etc., are always flavorful, cooked masterfully, and served hot--these culinary innovations are almost unknown in Rochester. (I am, of course, exempting India Garden, Pho Chau, Hardy's barbecue, and Grandma's from having any deficiencies related to these qualities.). I tried the 3 meat omit. How is this place still in business? Omits appear to be Pre-made the meet and cheese where just thrown on top of gray - blue tinted eggs. I have had better food from lunch trucks. Hay guys breakfast food is the easiest thing for a restraint to do rite. read more

Great bacon: that would be the number one thing to get there. The rest of the menu is run of the mill greasy spoon type food done a little better than most places. The Sour Cream Raisin Pie used to be the second big reason to go to this place but now instead of it being a pie it is served in a cup like custard. Loosing the pie crust sort of makes it less appealing now. The service always seems good. They have special of the day items but I have no idea how good they are as I stick to the above mentioned items. read more

Great find on highway 52. Little Oscars has great home cooked food. I have bee here three times and had the hot beef sandwich (twice) and beef chili once. The hot beef was delicious and very lean. The waitress told me the chili was a little sweet, so I asked for Tabasco sauce, because I prefer my chili on the spicy side, but the flavor of this chili was so good, I never used the Tabasco. All of the prices are extremely reasonable. The pies are also homemade and sound delicious but I have tried. There is no liquor license however. read more

There used to be railroad memorabilia and even a caboose outside. But under new management, that all seems to have changed. The food is still great, and a train still runs around the ceiling, but the restaurant just isn't what it had been in the past. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Don't order the sweet rolls they are addictive. Breakfast at its finest. Huge and I mean huge pancakes. I come here with the grandkids and we split one. The blueberry is so tasty. Great service, with a friendly staff. Lastly you cant beat the bacon, best ever and the homemade sausage is very good, made the old fashion way. Love this place. read more

NOT WORTH THE STOP!!!! Service what service! We were there yesterday 11/17/11 not busy at all - us and another couple was all they had to attend to. Food was not prepared as ordered and small bugs were all over our plates which means something is not sanitary. After food was delivered no one checked on us at all. We had a tasty supper at Little Oscar's on 2/26/2017. They were very busy but the waiters were as cheerful and efficient as they would have been with fewer customers. Our food was delicious. Cheeseburger, ham & bean soup, american fries, crispy chicken wrap, and ground steak. The portions were generous and we liked everything. Too full to try the pie -- next time we will plan ahead. Not a fancy place but it was clean -- even the restrooms! We take Hwy 52 fairly often and already know we will return to Little Oscar's. Only one negative-please bring back the train or remove the track (only part of restaurant that looks a bit shabby). read more

Looking for a fabulous low-key restaurant randomly sitting on the side of the road that serves terrible salads, but unbelievably good broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, soup, and pie?!?! Then, Little Oscar's is your place! We recently stopped in for a late lunch and noshed on some yummo dinner food (skip the salads, they aren't even worth it...seriously!). Been to many burger places throughout my 50+ years I just ate at little oscars in Hampton MN OMG!!! Had the biggest thickest juiciest burger I have ever had it was topped with extra thick fabulous bacon tomato lettuce American cheese pickles and the biggest surprise extra crispy hash browns All it needed was some nice grilled onions Best burger I have ever had! My family has been going to Little Oscars for many years, the Newest Owner (Vicki) has made it our favorite place for breakfast. The wait staff is great, the food has great flavor, and the portions are good size, the price is fair too. Their bakery goods are also a good reason to stop there for one of the frosted rolls. It has it's original seated bar area that reminds me of eating with my parents a long time ago. If you go on the weekends be mindful or Church times because the place will be packed soon after Church gets out! read more

Wife had bacon cheeseburger and thoroughly enjoyed it too, bacon is thick cut and delicious as advertised. If I had room left in my stomach I would've gotten a malt. We had high hopes for this little restaurant off the side of the road but it ended up disappointing and ruining a nice little road trip to Rochester. The menu is diverse and the restaurant was well staffed but the food was inedible. The staff didn't seem to care that the food was bad so that was another sign that the place is under poor management. The off-brand substandard condiments also didn't help and considering the high prices, like paying $1.50 for fries to accompany your bacon cheeseburger hamburger that alone costs $8.99, I assume i'm paying extra for the cost of ketchup to go with it so it would be nice if it was a typical brand like Heinz. Also, I can't quite describe what was happening with the bacon, it was thick but I wasn't able to actually chew it or cut it with a knife. Strange things happening at Little Oscar's Restaurant. Stick with coffee or one of those huge cinnamon rolls they offer at the check out if you happen to need a break from the road. read more

Whenever I go golfing down in Cannon Falls, this is the place we stop on the way back. So needless to say, we are here every other month. It's always busy and the staff are friendly, especially the owner. As for the food, I've tried many different items on the menu. I always start off with the chili as it's one of the best around. It's better than most expensive restaurants chili that charges a lot more. Then when it comes to the main menu, it's either a burger (with hashbrowns on top) or breakfast with pancakes. Their blueberry pancakes has blueberries that are super tasty. I really like this place. I just don't want to visit here more than every other month because I'm afraid of getting fat. After all, it's grilled food and it's a diner. But for the price, what you get is a great value. The wait is not bad either. We came on a Sunday around 12. So you do catch the church crowd. But it's never more than 5-10 minutes. read more

I met my parents here for Father's Day (2015) for breakfast. They had eaten here before and said the food was good and liked the atmosphere. We were seated at a table by the door not long after we arrived. We placed our orders (beverages & food) with the waitress and watched as the entry way filled with more people waiting for tables. Our waitress delivered our beverages but never stopped back again. After waiting for about 40 minutes for our food, I watched the manager on duty approach the table behind us and rudely ask them to leave as she needed the table for the other customers that were waiting. They replied that they had been waiting for their check so they could pay, but had not seen their waitress in a long time. The manager found their waitress, got the table their check and they quickly paid & left. When the manager was back at her post at the front desk, I asked her to check on our food order. After about 10 minutes she came back and said there had been a problem with their computer system and our order was lost/never made it to the kitchen but that they had re-entered our order and the kitchen had it now. We asked how long it would be before our food would be ready and she said, "At least 20 minutes. Maybe longer.". We had waited close to an hour and only had 2 cups of coffee and a glass of water. The manager did not apologize for the delay/lost order and appeared annoyed that we even asked about our orders. I understand they were busy on a Sunday morning, especially Father's Day. I understand mistakes sometimes happen, as was the case with our orders being lost in their computer system. The manager's attitude towards the table behind us and her lack of care over our order being lost (or a simple apology for it) is the reason I probably won't make the drive to Hampton to try this place again. read more
