So about two weeks later when I was driving by I stopped in to inquire. A lady poked her head out the door and rudely exclaimed she was teaching therapy. I told her I tried to email a couple weeks ago to inquire about renting the studio, and asked how I should get ahold of anyone, she cut me off to tell me they get 35 emails a day, and don't have time to answer them all. So apparently they're too busy, and they don't need my business, so I'll be taking it elsewhere. I'm surprised places with this rude of customer service stay in business. I definitely won't be supporting them, and will let my friends know not to either.

I've been coming to Alderbook Park for various events for most of my life. As a child, it was to…read moreattend my mom's company picnics, back when she worked for Burgerville. As an adult, things came full circle when I started to visit to attend my *own* employer's company picnics, and later, special events like this weekend's Alderbrook Oktoberfest, or a friend's wedding, several years ago. I remember fondly several of its unique attractions: the fountains of pink lemonade; the (semi)-heated pool; the mini mini-golf course; rowboats on the pond (now replaced with paddleboats); all you can eat hot dogs; the dinner buffet and live music under the awning. Some of the above features aren't a part of a standard admission ticket, or present at each and every event. For example, the dining options at this weekend's Oktoberfest were certainly not free, but an a la carte selection of sparse and underwhelming German options; one measly stand selling Costco brats with sauerkraut, some pretzels and cheese...and that's about it. There was beer, of course, and wine, but nothing to write home about. It was basically Alderbrook with a very thin coat of Bavarian paint over the top, which as a seasonal event would be an abject failure, if not for the fact that Alderbrook itself elevates anything that takes place here a few notches above the bar. There are few family-friendly outdoor venues as uniquely appealing in the PNW area. So many play places, open fields for games and sporting events, hiking trails and places to explore, that any kid (or kid at heart) is going to have no shortage of things to do or see. Our toddler son loved jumping around in the provided bouncy castles, wandering the paths, riding the "train", climbing the play structures, exploring the wooden ship, swinging in the swings, paddling out on the pond, and feeding the fish from the 25c food dispensers on the dock. It was a joy to see him experience the very same things I did as a child, with a huge smile on his face, and to hear him giggling with excitement. Not every event at Alderbrook is perfect; what you get is directly related to how much time, effort and money are poured into planning and preparation. Whether that be your company putting on a holiday event or get together, or something more publicly accessible (and put on by Alderbrook itself, to draw in the public), there may be things that could be improved, but in general, there will always be more hits than misses here. The real magic, and draw, of Alderbrook comes in the form of memories that you build and share with your friends, co-workers, and family, and as evidenced in my own case, these memories are fond, romantic, and now, passing on into their third generation. That's something really special, if you ask me.

Writing this review in case anyone sees it who is considering registering their child in any…read morepreschool owned by Taylor Breunig, who, according the Oregon Business Registery, owns preschools under the following names: Wild & Wonderful, Inc (3 locations in Oregon) Little Otters, Inc (3 locations in Oregon) SoGrow House, Inc (2 locations in Oregon) I paid well in advance one month at one of her daycares (Wild & Wonderful, SE Portland) in order to hold a spot for my son, and at the time confirmed the funds would be fully refundable if something didn't work out (honestly I had a weird feeling there but we were desperate for care). I was told multiple times the funds would be returned at the time another child took the spot. We did end up deciding to go somewhere else that I had fewer reservations about, and I reached out for a refund to the $1,650 that they charged me to hold my spot. They once again confirmed it would be fully refundable once another child took our spot, and I checked the handbook and saw no other policy or line stating it was not 100% refundable. It has been nearly 8 months. I have been in regular communication with a staff member who has been very nice and I believe is unrelated to the issue. She even confirmed to me that she had forwarded my request to Taylor who was going to issue my refund, and apologized several times for it taking longer than it should have. I wanted to stay civil and continued to give the benefit of the doubt, so instead of contacting a lawyer, leaving a bad review, or making a report the BBB, I continued to check in monthly with the staff member, awaiting for Taylor to process the refund, even though it was causing me financial hardship. I honestly regret being so kind about it, perhaps if I had left a review or taken other public action, Taylor would have been forced to respond to me. I finally heard back today that the business has closed, and after 8 months of trying to get my money back, the owner clearly had no intention to do so. She has opened multiple other daycares, so while this business closed, I believe any parent considering sending their child to one of her businesses should be warned. After searching for reviews on Wild and Wonderful I found MULTIPLE OTHER SIMILAR REVIEWS from parents who were never given funds back, and completed ghosted by Taylor. I will be following up with BBB and a lawyer. I'm so disappointed. Please do not give this person your money. I regret not getting a lawyer involved sooner, this feels very predatory. It's unfair to just close your business and open a new one to get out of paying money you owe. I don't want any other parents to fall for it.
