This is perhaps one of the best Mexican fruteria spots I've been to! Prices are fair, and service is quick. Outside is a little bit sketchy, but you can always grab and go. Tostitos with corn (10/10) very very solid, the highlight is they serve with real Mexican white corn -- very rare find. Hot cheeto con queso (10/10) local fave done right. Melon fresca (8/10) a little too sweet for me, but they delivered on what you would want a fresca to do. I highly recommend checking this spot out! read more

The "closed" designation is wrong, the place is still open, was just there yesterday. It is a cute little place with tons of delicious looking dishes. I came after lunch, so didn't have room to try the savory dishes, opted for the Mangonada special. It was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was good. Service was good but you have to make sure someone in your group speaks Spanish because no one there spoke English when we went. The actual spot was simple and chill, the neighborhood isn't great so if you're from out of town just be aware of that. None of the prices are listed, so either assume everything is 7$ or ask. We ordered 4 things and it came out to almost 30 bucks. We didn't order anything crazy but the prices aren't shown so you might get caught off guard when a basic nachos, two snow cones and and a bag of Cheetos with cheese comes out so high. They have elote blanco or elote amarillo I like both, the elote blanco reminds me of the elote in the valley and the elote amarillo reminds me of the Laredo locations elote amarillo is also common in Houston. All in all this is the best place in San Antonio to get a corn in a cup which corn you prefer. I got tostadas Siberia and an agua de sandia this time but everything is good at this place. read more

I LOVE the Mexican corn from here it's delicious! Mixed with the liquid chile they give you it's even better. Their nacho pie is really good I highly recommend it. I don't know what chilli they use but its really good and its a big serving of nachos. Also cant go wrong with their aguas frescas, my favorite is Piña. The cups are pretty big and the aguas are always nice and cold. The most important thing is the customer service, these ladies are so polite and so fast at getting your order ready. I have been to the Los Pinguinos in Laredo, TX and the snacks have always been amazing. I'm so glad they finally opened Los Pinguinos # 5 in San Antonio so I don't have to drive so far to satisfy my cravings! My favorite snack is their Elote Desgranado which is a cup of white or yellow sweet corn, mixed with mayo, a white cheese and chile. My husband always has a Frito Pie and says they are the delicious. I live right down the street from here and have never been so I tried it today Holy moly do I regret not coming here the past couple years that it's been open! The corn in a cup is so good! The corn is roasted and you can tell they don't get from a can and actually get it from the cob. I also tried the mangonada and it was pretty standard from other places Ive tried. Definitely try the corn in a cup here they give you liquid chili on the side and it's delicious! It gets pretty busy in here but never as busy as las Nieves that's down the road on hildebrand so you won't be stuck waiting an eternity. New favorite snack spot. Definitely recommend! read more

My mouth is watering as I begin to write this review. Pinguinos is delicious snack bar that originated in my home town, Laredo. Whenever the bf and I make it home to visit family we would always make sure to bring a corn in the cup back to S.A. with us. As you can tell when we found out there was a location opening in S.A. we were overjoyed! No longer would we have to drive 140 miles for something ever so tasty. The staff is always so kind when I order and just recently we discovered they have yellow and white corn, if you haven't tried the white corn you simply must. I've only ever tried the corn in the cups, nachos and hot flamers with cheese and honestly that's all I need. The price is great and so is the wait. I also must add that my bf and I searched high and low for a corn in the cup place here in S.A. that compared to this and no one came close. Some used Parmesan cheese or the chili just wasn't right. So don't waste your time searching, we already did that for you just come here and have a corn in the cup the right way! read more
