Mrs. W. has not been feeling well this week so I felt compelled to provide a nourishing meal for her and Baby W. Opening our cavernous refrigerator and seeing a box of Kraft singles and a few bottles of ketchup, I declared we would starve. Mrs. W. declared we were going out. We went out. I grew up eating at Little Pigs Bar-B-Q in Anderson--the same city that strives to become "little Spartanburg" for all the wrong reasons--and have fond memories of giant BBQ sandwiches, colossal-sized bins of slaw, and monstrous bowls of beans. All of these items were huge because I was a small child. I found out the hard way (looking at you Moon Pies) that as you get bigger, things get smaller. This being Baby W.'s first voyage to the land of Bar-B-Q (or Barbecue, Barbeque, BBQ, and it's variants), I wanted his first experience to evoke wonder and joy. After running head-first into the door labeled "Exit" that didn't have a handle, I found another door a few feet away labeled "Entrance." This bode well for the future. Inside, we were greeted with a capacious environment fit for any king of BBQ cuisine. There are many tables here, but you must choose one. I chose to whet my appetite with the standard BBQ sandwich plate. This was an unadventurous choice, but it also matches the risk level on my Roth IRA. Mrs. W. moved up to a jumbo plate because you go big or go home. And I couldn't go home because we were hungry. We complemented our main courses with sides of green beans, baked beans, crisped sweet potatoes, and mac-n-cheese. Our water cups were 25c apiece, which got my gander as I only spotted this robbery once our food was ready. However, I've made a vow this year not to get viciously angry about small things so I'll let this one go. After finding an available booth, we chowed down on our chow. And a delicious chow it was. I feasted on my sandwich with the vigor of a Takaran wildebeest, dousing it with additional hot sauce because I like living dangerously. The mac-n-cheese is not like the Kraft Dinner we were served as youngsters in the northern reaches of A-Town, but was creamy and delightful. The baked beans were flavorful. All side dishes were the temperature of hot magma. We choose to cool things down before attempting to feed any of it to Baby W. Mrs. W. also appeared to be appeased by her dinner, thanking me for taking her out, while silently judging me for my inferiorly-smaller sandwich. Baby W. waved at the remainder of the restaurant and refused to voluntarily eat. He's such a friendly young chap. Once our family meal had ended its brief existence, we filled our water cups again and prepared for departure. After running into the "Enter" door, we successfully exited the premises through the passageway labeled "Exit." read more

So today we had our first lunch in our new neighborhood. Still doing a lot of work on our house, which made it a late lunch. We ran down the road to the nearby shopping center and picked Little Pigs, just to try it out and eat lunch real quick. All told, this is a middle of the road, no frills bbq restaurant much like the ones my grandparents would take me to when I was younger. If I'm being honest, there's nothing really wrong with that. Bbq is a simple food that doesn't require much in the way of presentation and atmosphere for it to be good. In fact, I think the more run down the building is, the better the food will be when it comes to these places. Anyways, $30 got us two bbq sandwich plates with two sides each, a pair of small drinks and a serving of banana pudding. The sandwiches were tasty and well portioned, the sides themselves were pretty simple, cole slaw, Mac n cheese and onion rings. The banana pudding, which was very good, is made from scratch in-house. Overall, not the most over the top impressive bbq joint I've ever been to, but it'll do just fine. I'll be back. read more

I don't see how anyone could complain about this barbecue restaurant. The restaurant and the bathrooms are spotless. It is organized very well, simple and quick to order a meal, and clean-cut employees. You can tell that they don't just hire anyone. The chopped pork sandwich is excellent. Very clean pork with almost no fat. It has a very heavy smoke flavor and I mean that as a compliment. The prices are super reasonable for BBQ of this quality. I've eaten barbecue all over the United States and I would put their sandwich up against anyone's.The slaw and tea are also excellent.My only complaint is there isn't a Little Pigs in Spartanburg. read more

Don't let the review fool you, you should absolutely eat here... but there are caveats. I'll start with the bad so we can close out on a positive note. The pork is served near room temperature. Which is to say, at a temperate that would fail a random food safety inspection. On the basis of taste, I would give the pork a 2/5 rating which would improve to 3/5 at temp. This defect was present during both of my visits, so it can't be chalked up to a bad day. The star of the show here is the sides. The macaroni and cheese is the best I've had in either Carolina, and the onion rings are the best onion rings I've had in my life. That's not hyperbole. Best onion rings ever. Not too crunchy, great texture, great taste, perfectly balanced. If the name of the restaurant was Little Pigs Mac & Rings, this would be a 5-star review. A 6-star review. But barbecue is headlining the marquee, and barbecue is the limiting factor. Given the state of the world, I won't dock points for sauce limitations, but it was disappointing not to see one of the Carolina styles as an option. read more

came in on 4/2/24 at 4:30 and paid 42.00 dollars for a family pack and an extra side of meat. We sat down and waited for our order. After about 10 minutes of waiting, an elderly lady probably in her 60's told us we cannot stay and that it was takeout only. She made an assumption that we were even planning on dining in because not once were we asked. She then proceeded to say that they didn't charge us for dine in, so we politely asked if we could pay the extra fee for the plates and dine in costs. She was extremely rude and just kept arguing with us. Even after my wife said, "that's fine we will leave, but can we please get a refund since you're obviously not bringing us our food," she continued to make us feel extremely unwelcome and essentially kicked us out. She just kept saying, "sorry this is strict policy you need to leave." My wife asked for a refund again, and the kid that originally took our order finally gave us the refund.. I don't usually feel discriminated against but she had a personal issue with me and my kids (who were being extremely respectful and just drinking their lemonade the whole time). I will not dine here again. I will not support any business that it partners with. I would highly appreciate hearing back from the owner who we were told was not currently in. read more

Happened to stumble on this place driving to BI-LO in the parking lot, all I could smell was this smokey bbq, I had to stop in. It was very clean inside, has a lot of space to dine in, and WIFI for customers. I ordered ours to go with 3 regular pork plates that you get 2 sides each, we had hush puppies/fries, hush puppies/onion rings and baked beans/potato salad. I was a little sad that they had a sign that kid's meals were dine in only so I had to purchase a plate for my little kids but it's no biggie we managed lol. The drive home was torture, I wanted to rip right into that bag and eat it all up, but after patiently waiting we enjoyed our meals and they were so good. The pork had a that Smokey flavor, moist perfectly seasoned pork, when adding your choice of sauce gives it that tang you need! All of our sides were delicious especially the hush puppies, perfectly fried golden ball of dough..sooo amazing! Filling, delicious, and friendly service will try again when in the area! read more

The atmosphere is what you would expect from a BBQ joint - Checkered table cloths and an order at the counter experience. No sauces are on the table, but sitting up on the counter inconveniently. I ordered the jumbo bbq sandwich with the baked beans and sweet potato crunch (sweet potato crunch had more than one sign so I assumed this was a signature dish). The bbq was dry, and the hot sauce left an aftertaste of window cleaner. The sweet potato crunch had absolutely no crunch. It looked and had a texture like baby food. The beans were great. Probably won't go back, but it didn't deserve one star. read more

Standard fare, really good fries, and decor is just the typical it-is-what-it-is small time diner. Overall not bad but I'm not driving out of my way and if the wife hadn't suggested would have driven by it. Fabulous pulled pork sandwiches. The meat is perfectly cooked and the BBQ sauce is tangy. What more could you ask? How about the best cooked-to-order chicken fingers any where? Little Pigs has that, too. I do wish there was a bit more ambiance, it could be warmer/cozier. But if you're grabbing take out, it doesn't matter. Discriminates against families with kids. I went in on Friday at 6:30 with no customers in line and 5 employees standing around doing nothing. I started to give my order to the cashier which included 2 adult meals and 2 kids corndog meals (for a 3 & 5 yr old) and was told they wont make kids takeout orders. What kind of policy is this? Interesting... left a bad taste in my mouth,,, The lady who took my order was in the rush even if I was the only customer in the "restaurant", she was kind of rude because I didn't know what to order... sorry I am a foreigner, the barbecue is not well known in my country! But I am also here to embrace the culture... and the kids meal for 2.99 it's a good offer but for "dine-in" only, that makes no sense. I don't know what is the strategy behind that, having people making a mess, bringing some animation inside, saling ice-cream at the end... So I asked to order a small fries and a small sandwich. She charged more than my adult meal, sorry if I'd rather eat on my deck and enjoy the nice SC weather than to eat in a place which reminds me a wall-mart stock room! Wow...what a shame. The food is delicious! The service...Just Awful! I ordered a chicken plate and it very specifically states on their website that it is $7.79. At the time of pick up, they not only charged $9.39, but then gave us a hard time about it when we questioned the difference. Every person, including the owner, was incredibly unprofessional and rude. We will be happy to find a new BBQ joint, where the staff isn't so nasty!!! read more
