After having eaten here many times I can safely say this one of the best bbq joints around. The sweet potato casserole is wonderful but don't eat too much you will need your diabetic meds (still worth it!), their meats are tender and delicious and their sides hold their own against the bbq. MARY got on the phone and rudely told me I did not order fried chicken. She repeatedly argued with me,then bold face LIED and said "we dont sell fried chicken " News flash Mary, your menu , your website and the side of your establishment clearly has the word BASH on it, in all caps and bold print. I love this place! I feel like you get a lot of food for a good price. I love their BBQ sandwich plates & I usually get their sweet potato fries & hushpuppies! So good. Their desserts are great too! Though it may not look like your average restaurant upon first glance, when you enter, you're immediately hit by the faint scent of barbecue, and friendly faces all around, as if there were angels in the architecture of the restaurant. I went here the other day because it was very convenient for me while I was out doing other errands. The parking lot was full, and I usually take that as a good sign. When I got inside, the service was relatively prompt and I ordered the chicken-fried steak with potato salad and sweet potato crunch (sweet potato casserole with pecans on top). The potato salad was standard fare, and the steak was actually pretty good. A little chewy, but the breading and brown gravy had good flavor. The sweet potato crunch was not as much of a success. The first red flag I should have noticed was the lack of a smell of smoke, but I was too hungry to see it. If you want to find out how good a BBQ restaurant is you try their pulled pork. What I got was some kind of meat with no smoke ring and no flavor. After trying the pork and very mediocre baked beans and lackluster, macaroni and cheese I held out hope for the banana pudding. There's nothing like the flavor of instant pudding and that's what you get here. I really wanted to like this place. The staff was great. The service was prompt, but this was not BBQ. The meat at Bubba's is super smokey and yummy and the calabash chicken is not dry. That said, the amount of grease is extraordinary. The bbq slaw is nice and vinegar y but again I could do with a little less dressing. The green beans were overly salted. With minor changes this would be a win. Best barbecue around! Exceptional ribs and brisket (only Friday and Saturday). Calabash chicken is huge and flavorful. Sides are excellent too. Servings are large, and I usually have another meal from the leftovers. I told the cashier I couldn't decide between the steak or the brisket, and she gave me a small cup with some brisket, and it was delicious. My wife got the pork plate, with baked beans and sweet potato crunch. The beans were the weakest side we ate, and the pork and sweet potato crunch were great. Loved the sauces on the table. Bubba's has consistently been rated as some of the best BBQ in the upstate and once you visit, you'll know why. My go to is the 2 meat combo (~$11) with two sides. I ALWAYS get the ribs (with sauce) and the sausage because they're just that good. The ribs are tender and smoked to perfection. The sausage is juicy and flavorful as well. I absolutely love the sweet potato crunch and oftentimes get it as one of my sides - I'd definitely recommend it if you have a sweet tooth. Some other honorable mention sides are the mac and cheese pie and the hush puppies. Dont let the "pie" fool you. The mac and cheese is some of the creamiest and cheesiest I've ever had. And the hush puppies are nothing to turn your nose up at either! They are the perfect bite-size and even have corn kernels throughout. A coworker and I went there on a whim as it was close to the hotel. We ordered the beef hash, chicken fried steak and fried chicken. One of the cooks over heard us talking about the beef hash and offered us a free sample but we decided just to go for it. Everything came out piping hot which we had to wait a few minutes to cook down. Loved the breading on my chicken fried steak and the looks of the fried chicken. Nice and light but still crunchy. Unlike other places where they get extra crispy by frying the extra breading Beef hash was good but I think it was missing the rice underneath it. I think that would have brought it to the next level. This is one of my go to restaurants in the Spartanburg area. Plus the value of food va price of food is great. 3 full meals and 2 drinks was only $40. read more

Stopped in got lunch. I had the BBQ Sandwich Lunch special with was a chopped pork sandwich with choice of 1 side and a drink for $6.99. The sandwich was piled high with delicious BBQ on a toasted bun. I had baked beans for a side which were a little spicy and very good. Everyone was friendly and service was quick.
