I have been going to the Little rainbow foot spa on Upper State St for over five years now. I recently had a massage with one of their newer technicians Lisa, and had an amazing therapeutic massage. She is an experienced masseuse using pressure points, stretching, deep tissue massage. Very fairly priced. two hours for only $120 ! Very helpful people in a nice environment. That was the worst massage ever! What a waste of money and time!!! I don't write reviews, but I just couldn't let go... I had 40 minutes of nothing... first I had a nice strong lady who started the massage, then some guy came over yelled at her and took over... I asked for the top body, shoulder massage, for 10 minutes he was massaging my butt... I got so mad, and said that my shoulders are hurting so focus on that, for the rest of the time he was lightly pushing on my shoulder blades, my wrists were hanging off the area where I was laying I couldn't feel my fingers so it was really uncomfortable very unprofessional. They have no knowledge of what they are doing, Not all of them at least! I definitely will never go back there. read more

I've had 8-10 massages here and it's an excellent inexpensive massage option. All of my massages have been 4 and 5 stars for as inexpensive as they come in Santa Barbara. Only one time were they not able to accommodate me within a few minutes without an appt. I usually just walk in and have an excellent experience. They don't speak a lot of English so I've found good success with Google translate when communicating preferences. Very professional and no funny business thankfully. read more

The techniques used by Little Rainbow seem especially well suited to sports injuries and areas of general stiffness, and we have noticed dramatic improvements in flexibility and range of motion, as well as a decrease in pain. If I could give this place zero stars it would still be too many. I have never had such a terrible experience before. Nothing about this place is good and we just went for a foot massage. The noise level is off the charts. It's like getting a massage in a NY Deli, at the height of lunch hour. People bustling around, conversations above regular conversation level and at one point both the front and back doors were open, so we were hearing cars running, people talking, and equipment going. The massage itself was also terrible. I'm not sure what they consider to be a good foot massage, but in my book it does mean at some point actually massaging your feet! This was so far from being a foot massage I forgot I even had feet, because the masseuse barely ever touched them. Now if they advertised a calf rubbing, that I can say I got. Summary, this place is just horrible. When it came time to pay, the people there knew we had a bad experience. We tried to express this to them as we were getting our massage. Funny thing is they spoke English when we came in and mysteriously didn't when we tried to complain at the end. Good thing we had a wine tasting at the Fess Parker wine tasting room afterward. Little Rainbow is my happy place. I've been going here for years. It can be hit and miss though with who you get. But if you come here enough you know who to avoid and who to ask for.. Some people are really good. Some are ok. I would recommend bringing headphones and listening to music from your phone. People come in and talk loudly, not realizing it's bothering the people getting massages. Some people snore, getting your feet rubbed well can put a person so sleep, so, to not be bothered by all that, I listen to Spotify via by Bluetooth headphones. read more

It depends on who you get. I had Ada at first and was floored she gets five stars. I felt so amazed I found an amazing massage for walk in and affordable. I had major back pain and she helped. I tipped $20. Tonight I had Jessica. It was the worst of my life. It felt like she had never done a massage before she had no clue what to do or the proper edict. Instead of covering one leg at a time she exposed my whole lower half and shoved the towel in my crotch at which point I said "do you even know what you're doing?" She didn't speak English so she's couldn't understand. The rest of it was awful and she didn't know how to massage well at all. At the end she almost threw my clothes at me while I was still lying down covered in the oil she didn't get off like they usually do. Awful experience. I think it is amazing that they have the availability and space to continue to run their business while during COVID limitations. They have set up outdoor space in their back parking lot to accommodate massages. Massages vary from foot, body, chair massage and even foot scrubs. Looking at the different choices I think the best bang for your buck would be the Special Combo as you get a full body and foot massage cheaper than a single massage. However, today I ended up going with an upper body 30 minute chair massage. I have been so stressed with work and school that 1) I needed to relax and take some "me" time and 2) I build up tension in the trapezius and shoulder blade areas, which are hard to massage yourself. I'm talking HUGE knots in the trapezius muscles!! So, the upper body focused chair massage was perfect for me. They seated me right upon arrival (and checking temperature). I was placed in the shade (there are covered areas too if you want it more private) and he got to work. Super deep tissue massage that targeted my most tense areas. He spent 50/50 on each side with some different positions of hands and arms to get to harder to reach places like underneath the shoulder blades. I was MELTING it was so relaxing and exactly what i needed. I think I will be coming here at least once a month now, so be ready for my knots! First of all this is not a "real" spa. Do not expect the Bacara. However the price is reasonable and if you have Peter as your masseuse you will be amazed. I originally wanted the 60 minute massage but after 50 minutes he asked if I wanted to extend the time. To be clear I did not tell him my problem areas but he instinctively knew what I needed. I've been a regular here for fifteen years and have always found it an amazing value and variable but usually quite good massage. My last visit left a bad taste and I may be done. The guy giving the 60 minute combo massage whispered about half way through, "we have time, you want 70 minute?" "60 minutes is fine," I replied a little annoyed at the disruptive attempt to upsell, it just makes you feel kind of like you only matter for your dollars. But no big deal, until checking out, I left a fair but not special tip, and the guy actually inspected the receipt, made a face, pointed to my tip and scowled at me. I wish I had just said "you're right" and crossed out the tip entirely, but I was shocked and just left. Like I said, I probably won't be back, bummer of an end to a long patronage. read more

The lady rang me up I paid, plus I gave her a $ 5.00 Tip. Just found out that after I left they told the others that I was with, I owed more. How can I owe more when they rang up the bill? We went to have a foot massage there was a total of 5 of us and when it came time to pay. They were all confused because my family used their gift cards. Nobody spoke English( supposedly). A man with broken English approached my family member and says what, you didn't like the work. He was so confused. He ask him what are you talking about he said what about the TIP. I didn't know we had to TIP them. They were using a gift card. Plus an extra card that was supposed to be a tip card. Boy, where they were so aggressive coming at us WHERE'S the TIP? I wouldn't recommend this place so unprofessional to treat out-of-town guests aggressively for a TIP. I got the worst massage in my life here. I had a guy who I told that I wanted him to focus on my neck and between my shoulders because that's where the knots were. He didn't appear to understand anything I said. I also told him he could apply as much pressure as he needed. He started off the massage with "techniques,,"if you even want to call it that, that I've never felt before. He flipped my ears and even tugged my ears so hard that i almost lost my earrings. That should have been a sign to me. Then he starts rubbing my arms and legs so fast without any pressure or attention to the muscles. It was just a superficial rub. Then finally when he gets to my shoulders, he presses down so hard that it hurt so much I had to speak up. I was so sore after that day but not in a good way. I felt he may have messed up something. Unfortunately i am very disappointed in this place. I have been getting massages for over a year now and have gone to several places, however this spot was the most excruciatingly painful experience ever. & before you think, oh i was sore or tense.. no! I am very very very sure that this massage was not supposed to be performed this way. I had paid for the 90 minute massage on the combo floor as well in the private room. Tell me why: the atmosphere was cold for comfort, loud, stained carpet floors, plenty of chatting amongst the massage therapist & loud music. Not to mention the worst part of my stay; i am not fully aware how experienced my masseuse was but he had massaged me if i were a football player for the NFL, i felt like i was getting abused and dug into my skin while my bones were crying. Honestly at one point i wanted to cry because of how rough this massage was. You think the man would consider his intensity due to my facial expressions, body kicks and myself whimpering.. no. He continued to ferociously kneed my body and slap my skin with anger. I have experienced good and bad massages but this. This massage was unbearable and actually could not wait for my treatment to come to an end, commonly in massages you can feel the therapist massaging the comforting energy into your body.. this was NOT the case. visiting from out of town and decided to treat myself to a 75 min body massage. i arrived exactly at 10:43 (according to uber) and was greeted right away. i have the tendency to time with my music playlist beforehand as well and somehow my 75 min massage was over at 12? as you can tell it's only 12:15 as im typing this in my uber ride but not only that, i excused it bc full body massage would include a front face/collar area massage but unfortunately that was only maybe a song and a half long? whatever. as i went to check out, i still got charged for a 75 min massage when it wasnt clearly so as i was unsatisfied, i only left a $5 tip. LOOOL the man that rings you up (assuming the boss) gave me the fattest stink eye and said something in his native language to his employees and even called the masseuse herself to tell her she only got a $5 tip (but if u think about it, it really was $20 since i should've only been charged for the 60min price) but yeah that was my not so wonderful experience. don't recommend if you're looking to be shamed but also what i get for cheating on my masseuse from home read more

My daughter had the body massage which was terrible, the masseuse didn't know what she was doing at all, lots of thumping and stretching and then really intense pressure points. Instead I had a guy who basically just pushed on me for about 75 minutes, walked away for several minutes several times, and never gave the the correct massage with hot stones. When he said I was done, I told the counter man I hadn't gotten the correct massage and he fell into his lack of English and just bowed every time I tried to explain. And this marked the worst massage experience we've ever had. I've been around the block a time or two when it comes to massage therapy--I'm a massage pro, having spent over $100,000 on massages over the past three decades, so I know good from bad. And this was the worst massage I've ever had. Last place. And I'm being kind. Both of our massage therapists left us alone several times while working without telling us when they would return--they just walked away, leaving us alone. What's worse, they both chatted with each other and with other massage therapists while they were working, as if we weren't even there. Very unprofessional to say the least. Plus the massage was bad. Really bad. Things went from bad to worse while paying for the massage. The guy at the counter asked for a tip. What? I've never had a massage therapist ask for tip, and I always tip, and he did it in a way that seemed like he was shaming me: "what, no tip"? I couldn't believe I was having such a bad experience. A tip was out of the question. Save your money and avoid frustration. Find another place for a foot massage.
