My husband and I tried this last Nov. 18th, and it was amazing. The salt cave was so beautiful and relaxing plus it relieved my sinus congestion. However, I took a star off since my husband found the seat to be uncomfortable since he is tall specifically for the neck part. There was a 45-minute guided meditation as you sit inside the salt cave. You're allowed to bring your bag inside and you will remove your shoes outside or you can just wear the booties provided to cover your shoes. There are also a lot of spa-related items being sold outside the salt cave. There are crystals, soaps, and aromatherapy. It is a good place to visit when in Santa Barbara, they also offer facials and massages. Another thing is that the Salt Cave is in a basement type of location so you have to use the stairs to go down or get access to the place, so that is one thing to consider if you have someone with you that would find it difficult to use the stairs. read more

I came here as part of a group booking for a girls weekend. Our appointment time was supposed to be 2pm and they moved it to 1:45 without telling us. I showed up at 1:40 but they couldn't take me until the other person in our group arrived and she arrived at 1:50. I had a good massage with Daniel but it was only 45 minutes. They gave me 10% off over the confusion but paying $160 for 45 minutes is highway robbery. The entire experience felt disorganized and not worth the money at all. I would not go back and do not recommend. You can have a great massage for half the price elsewhere and experience much better customer service. read more

We got the Groupon for the 45 minute cave session which was very relaxing. It's like a combination sound bath and salt detox. My sinuses cleared up from the salt and the sounds were very soothing. We also got the combination scrub and massage. My masseur Mia did a great job very gentle. A few tips if you are used to Korean spas this is totally different. Bring a robe or jacket for the salt cave it is not a sauna. They have a variety of salt scents to choose from. We chose the lavender which was very soothing. You do not need a robe or towels to wash up after the massage these are provided. They also have a relaxing tea room and they provide Asian slippers to wear in the rooms. Added tip, if you get a treatment you get a discount of their wonderful products! Plan to spend 3 hours there for a great experience. read more

This was my second visit to Salt. My first experience was excellent, which is why I was looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, this visit involved some issues with my reservation. A few days before arriving, I called to reserve a specific time slot before making the long drive there. However, when I arrived, I was informed there was no record of my reservation and that a private booking had been scheduled during the same time slot. Unfortunately, this was never communicated to me during my call. Thankfully, they were able to accommodate us later in the day, but the next available opening was a couple of hours later, which significantly impacted our drive home since we were traveling from a distance. The staff was not rude, but the customer service experience could have been more helpful and solution-oriented. I was told, "I'm not sure who you spoke with, but the information is wrong." As a customer, that was frustrating to hear, especially since the salt cave reservations do not come with confirmation notices, which made it difficult to verify my booking. That said, the salt cave itself is wonderful, and their products are excellent. This experience would not prevent me from returning in the future. I simply hope for a smoother reservation process and a better customer service experience next time. read more

My friend booked a Cave Meditation session, and I had no idea what that entailed.  We entered a glowy crystal cave packed with pink Himalayan salt. Gentle music played in the background. We lied on the crushed salt... and fell asleep for 45 minutes.  Not sure if it improved my respiratory health as halotherapy claims to do, but the much-needed nap left us feeling a bit more energetic. I think the setting was a novel experience, but I wouldn't come back for Cave Meditation. read more

I visited SB on a work trip for my husband. I browsed the Groupon app and found this experience! I really didn't know what to expect, but ended with a wonderful experience. I walked into a cave beautifully covered in Himalayan salt and nice lighting. I selected a wide zero gravity chair and waited. A recorded voice came on for a few minutes and walked us through breathing exercises, for the rest of the experience soft yoga music came on until the 45 minutes were done. I purchased a few items in the shop and although my Groupon included 10% an item, it was not given to me. Overall, it was a nice experience for the price. read more

I tried the Salt Spa massage for the first time & when I called to make the reservation, I told the woman on the phone I didn't have a gender preference of therapists (because I assume if I have a male therapist he will be professional). I arrived and waited in a small room that had salt crystals on the floor and large salt lamps scattered around. Then my therapist Danny arrived and brought me to the massage room. He was a good therapist until he started working on my legs. Both when I was face down and face up, he would move my leg way out to the side for no reason & I didn't feel like the sheet covered me properly at the groin. When I was face up, I had to push the sheet & blanket down several inches because he hadn't draped me properly. I told him I felt exposed. Finally when he worked on my other leg, he did drape me properly but I had already lost trust in him so it kind of ruined the experience. read more

After 4 years of walking by this place when we visit our son at UCSB, we decided to try it. I would have loved a wet towel to wash the salt off my feet before massage and facial. Yoooo this place was amazing! I got a salt scrub and deep tissue and it was absolutely perfect. The tea lounge has salt on the floor so even if you don't get the salt cave session, you can still feel the salt on your feet. I felt so good and clean after my session, my massage therapist Christian really knew where to work on my body, too. He communicated well and was very respectful and conscientious. My recent visit to the Salt Cave in Santa Barbara was extremely disappointing, especially considering how far our group traveled expecting a relaxing experience. The first red flag was cleanliness. Staff were walking into the salt room with dirty shoes on, even though guests were instructed to enter and sit in that same space. That immediately felt unsanitary. When I went to sit down, the chairs already felt dirty, there was someone else's hair on one of them when we entered. I also noticed spider webs on the ceilings among the "salt rocks." I understand that cleaning a salt cave may have certain limitations, but basic cleanliness should still be maintained. These things were unacceptable. Trying to ignore those issues, I attempted to relax, but the environment made that impossible. About five minutes into the session, I could constantly hear employees stomping around the reception area. It honestly sounded like someone repeatedly banging against the wall. Customers were also going up and down the stairs, and the door clearly wasn't soundproof at all. To make matters worse, it seemed like the kitchen is right behind the cave because I could hear a microwave beeping over and over for nearly 20 minutes. On top of all that, one member of our group was not allowed in because she arrived two minutes later than the rest of us. Considering we had traveled hours to get there and were part of the same group, the lack of flexibility was frustrating and disappointing. Overall, this experience was far from the peaceful, clean, and relaxing environment we expected. Save your time and money and go somewhere that actually values their customers and provides the relaxing experience they advertise. Owners response to this is "we absolutely value our customers. We have thousands monthly and we take thoughtful feedback seriously. Best regards and thank you for your in depth comments." This response doesn't address any of the concerns I raised. I took the time to leave detailed feedback about my experience, and replying with a generic comment about having "thousands of customers" is extremely dismissive and unprofessional. However after reading through other negative reviews, it also seems to be a pattern that criticism is met with defensive responses or arguments rather than actually addressing the issue with this owner. read more

She was very attentive, checking in with me gently throughout the massage to ensure that the pressure was okay and to make sure I felt comfortable. I would book with her again in a heartbeat. I had high hopes for this massage place, especially since they provided a form to address any special needs or concerns. I specifically noted that I have nerve pain in my hips and was relieved to see a space to communicate that. Unfortunately, it seems the form was just for show because the massage therapist, an older lady with short hair, clearly didn't read it. Despite reminding her to avoid the area, she kept pressing on it, 3 times!! This made what was supposed to be a relaxing experience frustrating and uncomfortable. It felt like she wasn't present and just going through a one-size-fits-all routine. If you have any special needs or require a therapist who will actually pay attention to your concerns, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. It doesn't seem like they are properly trained to accommodate specific conditions, which is disappointing, especially considering the premium price tag. At first, I thought this was going to be a waste of time, but it ended up being such a relaxing experience. We chose to come here to sit in the salt cave for the 45 minute session. During this time they dim the lights and play meditating music. They have reclining chairs (think comfortable beach chairs that can recline) or you also have the option to just sit or lay down straight on the salt. It was very relaxing and it's an opportunity to just lay and not think of anything else. Focus on your deep breathing and enjoy the 45 minutes with no distractions and limited lighting. When you arrive, you will have to check-in with the staff at the desk. From there they will guide you to the salt cave. This is where you will have to take off your shoes and also taking off your socks is recommended (I did see a couple people who kept their socks on though). From there you will enter the salt cave and choose your chair to sit on. It was an interesting feeling walking on he pink salt. Think of walking on small chunks of pink salt before it gets ground for seasoning on food. **The staff will let you know from the start that if you need to exit the room for whatever reason that you will not be allowed back in since it will be a distraction to everyone else in the room with you. I will definitely be back again for the salt cave meditation experience. They also have massages and I want to check that out as well. read more

The best service ever! From the receptionist to the masseuse and the cashier. Everyone was truly welcoming and sweet. We got the 1 hour private couples massage and it was amazing! Both masseurs were very professional and kind. The space is super relaxing and calming. Also, very clean. They even have an area to relax before and after the massage. It includes tea and water. Decided to check out the Salt Cave Experience while in Santa Barbara for the weekend. Located off bustling State Street in Downtown, the signs direct you to "take the steps leading to the underground salt caves, spa and unique retail oasis." Never mind the massage and facial treatments, the cave sessions are the unique experience here. A 45-min session for adults (aged 15+) runs $28, with a $5 discount for Seniors, Military and College Students. Each relaxing Salt Cave session starts on the hour, with a maximum capacity of 14 people. Upon entry, guests are asked to either put coverings on shoes or remove shoes altogether. You definitely want to go in barefoot, as you will walk on a beach of salt to your choice of zero gravity chairs throughout a brightly colored, healing sanctuary. Photographs are not allowed, and guests are encouraged to not use mobile devices or engage in conversation. You also cannot return to the experience, should you have to use early for any reason. An instructor will come in to provide a few final words on how to best enjoy the therapeutic, healing powers of Salt. Once the instructor has wrapped, he closes the door and the mood begins to set. The light from the salt-covered ceiling glows softly as soft meditation music is played. I found myself squashing my feet on the salty floor, leaning back in my chair and closing my eyes. The experience was enjoyable. I found myself relaxed, even drifting off to sleep right before the experience was over ended. I also noticed the salt had scrubbed the bottom of my feet, making them smooth and exfoliated. However, I did notice that there were a few occasional "thuds" from someone upstairs, along with a fairly consistent "water through pipes" noise that drowned out the relaxation music for nearly half of the time within the cave. However, the overall experience is great for those that would like a little recharge without having to drop $150+ for a massage or facial treatment. But, based on what occurred during my session, I think the pricing was a tad high for what you get. The experience is also super dependent on how the other adults in the room act and behave. Luckily, for myself, there were only two other adults present, allowing for peace, quiet and space. Overall, Salt Cave Sessions are a unique experience to try for a quick recharge in downtown Santa Barbara. read more

Had no idea what to expect when I heard this was a man-made salt cave. What a unique experience! We walked downstairs and was led to an area to remove our shoes. As we entered a room covered in pink rocks floor to ceiling, we initially winced stepping on the salt, but quickly acclimated after just a few steps to our adjustable lounge chairs. It was a pleasant experience with the salt aromatics, our mobiles turned off, and meditative music which nearly put me to sleep! Afterwards, we checked out the salt-themed merch. Overall, a unique experience I would recommend checking out or recommend as a fun group activity. Street parking and was a nice break in between shopping, dining and wine tasting. read more

I have done a few cave meditation sessions and received a couple of massages from here, and I always have such a lovely time! The meditation sessions are so relaxing, it's so nice to have some time to do some self guided yoga on the salt floors or just listen to the calming music and focus on my breathing. My massages here are always superb, and any time I look for massages anywhere else I compare them to the outstanding ones I received at Salt. I always feel so taken care of here. Ghina, the manager, is very kind and warm and welcoming, and she recommended so many lovely natural products for me to use as well. The customer service and staff is great and I love the array of products I can get here- they make such good gifts and are so great for self care. Not worth the money. This place looks cool but that's really the only cool thing about it. $25 to sit in a chair with a bunch of people while a recording plays is just not worth it. I attended my first halotherapy (sitting in a room with cool crushed salt infused into the air) and quite enjoyed it. I was shocked that some of my problems diminished for a few days and that I genuinely felt better. The reason for the 3 stars and not 5 is that the music was way too loud and the person with whom I was with did not like the selection of spa music. One should not need ear plugs. I stayed for the entire session but the other person could not tolerate the loud radio and left early waiting outside for me. That created tense feelings and diminished what would otherwise have been enjoyable. read more

We sat on lawn chairs for our 20 minutes meditation. I thought someone would come in to guide us. Instead, I listened to people snored while they nap. I got nothing out of that experience.
