Discovered McVeigh Massage when looking for someone to help me with a shoulder issue. Roger is very in tune to anatomy and "sees" with his hands. He gets to the problem areas and has really helped to loosen up my very stubborn knots. His massage is deep, but he intuitively knows the limit. I've gone 4 times and it has really helped. This was my first ever prenatal massage. I was looking for something relaxing and slight deep tissue on my back as I have been carrying an extra load in the front. My husband booked our appointments that day. There was only one masseuse so we booked back to back, which worked out fine. It's so nice and quiet, my husband took a nap in the waiting area. Hari is a very skillful and intuitive massage therapist-not at all a Groupon level experience (though I did get a great deal on Groupon). Hari is a guy (I was wondering since it doesn't say on McVeigh's site and was glad to see that he is male because I am a stress-case and need deep work) and his knowledge and experience show! Hari actually teaches massage, so he knows a lot. My massage was a mix of relaxation and deep work. Hari works with a sort of finesse that newbie massage school grads lack. I was looking in yelp for great reviews for a massage boutique, and found McVeigh's. Close to me, 96 reviews, most positive. I called and - lucky me - got in in less than an hour for a 90 minute. The manager asked me if I had any requests, and I said I didn't like elbow or forearm work. When I got there, two people sat on a bench and no one got up to greet me. I didn't know if they were clients or worked there. I found out one was the manager, the other the therapist. I found it strange that the young therapist didn't seem comfortable with eye contact. I found this odd, as I feel it's important to have a good rapport with the therapist right away. I feel she did the best she could, but my sense was she didn't know much about massage. She used her forearms a lot (I redirected her a few times that it was not my preference) and moved around my back in a random fashion. She wasn't deep at all in some areas, but went really deep in others without warming up the muscles. She was a very sweet girl and I'm sure she was doing her best. After I'd kind of given in to whatever the massage was going to be, she stopped and asked if I'd like to reschedule with someone who would be more my style. I said ok, hoping the manager would explain what happened, but he didn't seem to want to hear my thoughts on my experience and just told me to call if I wanted to reschedule. Just finished a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Roger before my 6 hour drive to Vegas and he was amazing! I have chronic shoulder pain from sitting at a desk and talking on the phone and he was able to pinpoint my trouble spots right away and was able to loosen them up without a lot of pressure. Melissa was pretty good . It was nice to get a massage from someone licensed to do sports massages. I had a rotator cuff issue and she got in the pretty good.
