Little Ring Cafe is a small hidden HK cafe located on Kennedy. I was there with my family at 6:30pm on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. People did start coming in and it was a full house by 7. They have a pretty big menu, including all the staples. The portion sizes are also huge. I could only finish about 1/3 of it, and had both lunch and dinner for the next day The taste itself is good - nothing special but not horrible, I've had worse. It's a good staple, especially if you have cravings! I recommend their salt-baked chicken and baked rice. I heard their curry wasn't as good, according to my brother!

I love coming to this place for the satay beef noodle combo with the toast and two eggs. The satay sauce is different from other places , has lots of peanuts with it and taste amazing. Price is $14.99. Usually it is pretty busy and need to wait for tables, but the turnover is very quick. Decent amount of parking. Tables are tight In the restaurant. They also have single seatings

We came here again. They have the monthly special this time. The price $13.99 for the special was so attractive, including an appetizer, a cup of hot drink and a bowl of soup. We tried the Pork rice. A big piece of pork, fried rice and corn sauce. The piece of pork was a bit too thin and over dried, which a bit over deep fried. The fried rice was ok. But there was no veggie on it. On the menu, it said there was a small appetizer, but we didn't get it. The hot drink we could pick from the drink menu. There was another special beef tongue rice. I don't think I would like to try it from the beginning. If they would add a little bit veggie on it, I would like to come back for it.

The restaurant named "Little Ring Café" in Markham, co-owned by Halina Tam, a former Miss Hong Kong, and her husband. It has quickly gained popularity for serving authentic Hong Kong-style comfort food with attentive and friendly service, where the owner is notably polite and caring about the dining experience. We tried the dishes include deep-fried fish rice with sauce and 2 noodle sets with pork chop--both praised for good taste though portions may be slightly smaller than similar eateries. The food is authentic and flavorsome, reflecting classic Hong Kong cuisine. Service is attentive and warm, with the owner actively engaging to ensure guests feel welcome. Seating may involve a wait due to the restaurant's popularity but the friendly environment is encouraging. The café aims to provide comfort and a heartful dining experience, making it a place where guests can feel the owner's passion. It offers a genuine taste of Hong Kong with a personal touch from its celebrity owner, making it an appealing spot for fans of authentic HK food and friendly service. Check the lemon tea out if you havn't try yet.

Food was good. Good portion. Service is friendly and prompt. Ambiance is normal, like most HK style cafe. I think they can do better with better pricing since there are so many HK style cafes in the area. Either lower the price a bit or offer free cold drink with meal (instead of charging extra for cold drink). And consider the red bean ice-cream drink included for free for afternoon tea.

I don't have a lot of opportunities in downtown Toronto for HK cafe breakfast so when I'm in Markham I try to go to a new one each time. This one is located in a tucked away plaza not far from Pacific Mall. I got one of the all day breakfasts for $19.99 and it was unique in how it came with garlic bread, not toasted milk bread. Also it had smoked salmon and a round sausage patty which is unheard of in an HK breakfast. The sausage was a pork sausage not chicken sausage. And there was potato salad!!! Everything was definitely enjoyable though, I feel i should have gotten milk tea instead of lemon tea (very bitter even with a sugar packet) the scrambled eggs were warm and creamy, the potato salad added refreshing cool mouth feel, and the 3 different proteins were of good quality. There were also cherry tomato, baked beans and some tater tots and I LOVED the diversity of the platter and my taste buds were never bored. They do not accept credit card, only debit and cash.

Ambiance - gives hk vibes, offers lots of seating & great for large groups too Service - food came out extremely quick & soup was hot Food - their milk tea is a must get, beef stir fried noodles had so much wok hay

All the food was average. The food was familiar and as expected. The service here was a mess though. So many dishes were missing parts including the macaroni from an omelet and macaroni dish. Essentially, it was missing half its main two components. Other things which got missed was a fried egg with noodles, pineapple bun, toast, and utensils. Even when asked for these other parts, they still forgot the macaroni and brought a miss mash of other things. They did end up taking some things off the bill but this was very chaotic. The servers though kind, were also mostly absent. To be fair, this HK cafe appears to be quite popular and there were many diners. Given the quality, I'd skip this HK cafe and just go to one of the many others or for something else in the area. First Markham Place isn't too far and has more to offer.

I checked this place out with friends on a saturday evening. We called in and were told that there would only be a 15 min wait if we came right away. So we arrived within 5 min, and then were told that it would be approximately 30 min wait time lol. Thankfully, the owner who picked up the phone earlier told us he would try to get us in sooner and we were given a table at the honoured 15 min wait time. We were sat in a corner booth which was quite cozy. I wanted beef brisket but they were unfortunately sold out for the day. The complimentary russian borscht that was served with the entrees was actually pretty good! I ordered a tomato based chicken steak rice dish with cheese and it was very tasty (although I was expecting a slightly bigger portion). My friend ordered malay curry pork chop with tornado omurice on the side and while it was good, I don't think it tops the one over at Mana Kitchen in New Kennedy Square (the egg was a lil too cooked for my liking; a preference thing I suppose). Compared to counterparts like Cafe Le Majestik and Mana Kitchen (Mana a lot in particular for us), I think this place sits just under those in terms of tier. The rice dishes were slightly smaller, there was less sauce/curry, smaller portions of meat and the milk tea wasn't as tasty. We also ordered a popcorn chicken dish that arrived 45 min late (basically after we had been told we needed to pay the bill first lol). Overall, this HK cafe is good but the wait time coupled with the aforementioned details sits this spot at a 3.5 or 4 stars imo. Hopefully it isn't as hard to grab a table now that the hype should've died down a bit. I'll be back sometime to grab me some beef brisket in the future!

Finally made it here for brunch and managed to skip the wait! Just good timing though, since the lineup started shortly after we arrived. The food was authentic HK-style, though service was a bit slow, took longer than usual to get our dishes. One of our scrambled egg dishes came out more cooked and dry than the other, so a little inconsistency there. Seating felt quite tight, which might be a drawback for some. Prices are on the higher side, and I also noticed the POS machine prompting for tips despite the mandatory 10% service charge already added to the bill.

New hk style cafe opened by a ms.hong kong pagent. Came on a weekend and it was busy! would need to wait for a table but was quick. They also had single seating which is cool for people who dine alone. ordered the western french toast which ozzed with ovaltine .. super sweet but also super unique!! Also got the chicken curry with a tornado egg on rice- that was delicious. Milk tea is also very silky and good. overall a great quick eat place with lots of variety!

3.5 stars Located off Kennedy and Duffield on the south west corner. There is a large parking lot shared with the plaza and plenty of accessible parking out front with the ramp leading right to the restaurant. Maybe a little challenging with the recent snow. The main entrance is inside the plaza and no access from outside. There is a large waiting area with seats in the atrium of the plaza as it is quite busy during the soft opening phase. You get a little token with number to wait your turn. The seating is a mix of tables, bar tops for single diners and 3 mini cubicles reminiscent of Japanese noodle stalls for solo diners. There is no wifi inside. The menu is quite extensive with no afternoon tea sets currently. I tried out the baked pork chop rice with peach meal set. It was interesting to say the least. It came with soup and hot drink but both were warm at best when delivered. The rice was piping hot but a little bland (there is no salt or soy sauce on the table). I found the egg fried rice base a little too wet for my liking. The tea was decent but if it was served hot then it would have been better enjoyed Service is a little interesting. There are certain servers that have a tablet to take your order and others are just runners to deliver and clean up. Will revisit when they work out the kinks as they are still testing the waters during the soft opening phase.

I saw a sign at the entrance stating special include soup, main deep fried pork chop with rice with choice of different sauces or grill ox tongue with rice or fried rice with choice of different sauces and with tea or coffee for $13.99. Wow, what a good deal! I have no hesitation and walk in. The soup is rich and the pork chop is huge . Tea is milk tea which is ok. The service is fast and the servers are polite. There are quite a lot of customers during lunch time in the weekend. The wait is not bad . There is parking outside . It is more on casual and family restaurant. Good for casual / regular visit

It was my first time here, and the experience started off on the wrong foot. I had barely sat down, not even 30 seconds, before a staff member was already hovering over us trying to take our order. I hadn't even had a chance to look the menu yet, which immediately made things feel rushed and uncomfortable. The space itself is quite small, and they won't let smaller groups of two people or fewer sit in the booths, which adds to that cramped and slightly stressful atmosphere. There's people hovering nearby watching if you're almost done. Overall, the entire dining experience felt rushed from start to finish. The food is cheap, I'll give them that, but unfortunately the quality reflects that. I ordered a sandwich and it was sloppily put together. The bread slices were not even aligned properly, where the top slice and bottom slices were in opposite directions, making it so you couldn't pick it up. Flavour-wise, I was hoping for more of a Hong Kong cafe style satay beef, but this wasn't it. The curry was okay, with some decent chunks of meat and potato, but nothing particularly memorable. What really left a bad impression was the payment experience. Their debit machine defaults to 12%, 15%, or 18% tips calculated after tax, with no upfront notice or custom option. Tipping is not mandatory in Canada, and it should be up to the customer based on service. When we asked about it, the response felt as if we were being made to feel cheap over "just a few cents". Honestly it is not about the amount, it is about principle. If you are just looking for a quick and cheap bite, this place might do the job. But considering the long lines and how rushed the experience is, you might end up waiting longer than you actually get to sit and eat. Personally, I will not be coming back. I would rather get takeout or dine somewhere that lets you actually relax and enjoy your meal.

Orders were ready within 10-15 minutes. Baked pork chop rice was mediocre at best. Wasn't that good, some pieces of pork were tender and some were tough, rice had very little to no flavour. Hainanese chicken was delicious! Chicken was tender, rice has a nice flavour and you can tell they use the chicken broth they cooked the chicken to cook their rice. Comes with 3 sauces. Curry beef brisket was my favourite. Beef brisket was tender, the tender potatoes soaked up the curry sauce, and the curry was flavourful with a hint of spiciness. Lemon tea is good, but you really need to smash down the lemon to get that lemony taste. Will come back just for the curry beef brisket and hainanese chicken.

I am never the hop-on-the-bandwagon trendsetter. Good Catch Cafe and Bar has been in downtown Markham for a few years. I decided to come here for an early dinner after work on Wednesday for the first time. This eatery is a part of The Origin, the mall that includes a Cineplex, Goodlife Fitness, Chatime, and more. This eatery has its entrance facing Enterprise Boulevard. When you're parked at the parking lot across from it, it gives you the impression that the entrance is by the patio. Maybe you can enter and exit this side door when it's summertime. I see a lot of references in a number of Yelp reviews here to this eatery being Good Catch Boil. I remember when it was more of a seafood place when it first opened for business. It then meandered into a Hong Kong-style eatery, which is the case today. I'm guessing that the boil trend wasn't as popular over time. I walked in. I looked at a screen to check in. It was probably 4 pm and it wasn't terribly busy. I passed. A female server came over and asked if I was dining as a party of one. I nodded. She pointed me to a booth. I was pleased and sat myself down. It was comfy. It's kind of like a sports bar, but it's casual. I caught up with the Blue Jays loss against the Yankees the night before. By the end of my dining experience, this restaurant had good music playing that made dining here more upbeat. She came over with a bunch of menus. She also had a printed QR code. I could either order online or wave at any staff member to place my order. Nice! There are daily specials. You get a free drink with your order if you drop by between certain afternoon hours. I decided to order through the online menu and got these items: - Iced lemon Ribena - Curry fish balls (15) - Wonton noodle soup Service was wonderful. The female server got me water and my iced lemon Ribena. I love the latter drink so much. It was excellent. It had the perfect amount of lemon with Ribena, all iced. The water was also great. It was cold despite not having any ice cubes in it. My curry fish balls came out first. The curry smelled so good. I loved each curry ball that I stabbed with a skewer and dunked into the curry sauce. Each fish ball was bouncy and yummy. The sauce had a slight spicy kick that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'd get them again. A male server came over with my bowl of wonton noodle soup. I had maybe ten different noodle options to choose from, from ramen, to udon. I choose thin noodles. If you want a noodle pull, you'll easily get it here. The noodles were delicious, long, and so good. They weren't clumpy. Perfect! I was surprised that I got broccoli. I ended up submerging the florets in the broth. They started off on the crunchier side. They softened up nicely and I enjoyed how healthy eating each floret made me feel. I am used to getting bok choy or no veggies with wonton noodle soup. It was nice that I got something different. The wontons were excellent. They had shrimp in them, which I am thinking that the seafood part of this business is still there. I loved the green onions in this bowl of deliciousness. The broth was perfect. It wasn't overly salty. I could taste sesame oil that was aded to it. I paid at the table. The female server asked if I was paying by cash or card. I rarely have the former on me, so it was my credit card. I tipped and tapped, and thanked her for everything. Staff are so nice here. I'd come back just for the service alone. The food and drink were amazing, so I'm definitely a fan who wants to return for more good eats and drinks. I used the washroom before leaving this eatery. When you walk into this restaurant, the washrooms are straight ahead, followed by a right turn. It was cool seeing bowls of noodles being made by kitchen staffers as I passed by to get to the washroom. The women's washroom was spacious and clean. No complaints. I'm so glad that I finally dropped by this eatery. At least three restaurants have closed recently at The Origin. I'm glad that this one is still thriving. I'd love to grab a bite to eat after a movie or simply come here to enjoy good Hong Kong-style dishes. (214)

The macaroni soup was just okay, very much the kind of simple comfort food that fills you up, but nothing especially memorable. I was most excited for the signature beef sandwich, but it didn't fully meet my expectations. The burger/sandwich itself was smaller than I imagined, and it only had about 2-3 pieces of beef brisket inside with marinated bell peppers and their homemade sauce. The sauce leaned sweeter than expected, which might work for some people, but personally I was hoping for something more savoury and more generous with the beef. However, the brisket was tender, which was a win... ish. Overall, still a decent spot if you're craving classic HK cafe vibes and variety, especially for a casual meal with family.
