I was in the area, open to trying a new cafe for matcha and i came across PDA Coffee! I had a pretty good experience. Wasn't a wait. The barista was friendly and i did not feel rushed at all. The cafe is pretty small, so it's more of a grab and go. They did have seating outside but it was nice experience. The pastry i got looks better than it tastes. The matcha was good! I can't complain. :-)

PDA Coffee is a charming little spot with a minimalist, almost clinical aesthetic. Super clean and modern. I've been here twice now and both times it's been the same sweet lady behind the counter running the show solo. Just a heads up: if there's a line, it might take a bit to get your order since she makes each drink after taking them. But honestly, it's worth the wait. On my first visit, I tried their mocha. Solid and satisfying. Came back recently and noticed they updated their menu, so I went for the matcha einspanner this time and oh my god... hands down the best matcha drink I've had in the area. Milky, smooth, and perfectly balanced between the earthy matcha and just the right amount of sweetness. Prices are on the steeper side, but it's pretty standard for the area. Only thing to note: it's street parking only, and I had to circle the block twice before finding a spot. I'll definitely be back especially for that matcha.

PDA Coffee is one of those rare spots where you feel genuinely appreciated every time you walk in. The staff is always incredibly kind and welcoming no matter how busy it gets. You can really tell they put care and attention into every drink. The coffee is consistently excellent, balanced, smooth, and made with intention. It is clear they take pride in what they do and it shows in both the service and the quality. Always a comforting experience. Great coffee, great people, and a place that feels like a little daily reset.

I've had PDA Coffee bookmarked for weeks, so I'm glad that I got to visit last Sunday afternoon! The shop's in a quiet area with nearby street parking. It seems like a casual, grab-and-go spot since there's limited seating with some stools and umbrellas outside. I arrived near closing time and there was only one staff member at the front, and they were friendly and quick to prep my order. The main reason for my visit was to pick-up a Too Good To Go baked goods bag, which included four random pastries (croissant, cruffin (?), donut, and muffin). The pastries were stale, but they could be reheated at home. I liked the chocolate-filled croissant the most; albeit dry, it was actually visually appealing and had a good amount of Nutella-like filling. With daylight savings time in effect, I also ordered a small Iced Matcha Latte with almond milk and no sweetener for a little pick-me-up. The drink had a beautiful color, but tasted alright. It was more milky than I expected, but didn't dilute the matcha too much.

For being such an incredibly small space, almost everything about the place seemed extremely inviting. The coffee was also really good and the matcha drinks looked extremely appetizing as well. The barista was very friendly and took really good care of us. Parking might be a bit difficult, especially since the cafe is on Eagle Rock Blvd., but it wasn't too bad when I went. The fact that they open at 7:00 is also a huge perk. Definitely would love to try the matcha drinks the next time I am there!

You have to try the Double Matcha -- it's sooo good! The sweetness was just right, and the milk-to-matcha ratio was perfect. I'm honestly obsessed and will definitely be coming back. I even got lucky with parking right in front (they also have a little parking lot, which is a plus!). As soon as I walked in, I was greeted right away. I didn't catch the server's name, but she was super sweet. The shop itself is small, but honestly really cute and cozy. Loved the whole vibe!

Love the sleek, minimalist decor! After a Cycling Pigeon class, I reward myself with a delicious latte at PDA- their caramel latte has been my go to. They also have delicious pastries. Friendly service, too!

Cute place to grab a coffee togo! There are small short stools outside for sitting but no tables. Located on a medium-busy street, there are street parking options. Minimalist vibes, pretty simplistic menu with a few unique things. The lavender latte was pretty good, milder coffee taste (1 shot of espresso) but good lavender flavor with mild sweetness. Recommend! Matcha was decent, good color, matcha wasn't super strong but decent for a coffee shop. My expectations for a matcha is usually low at non-Korean/Japanese/Vietnamese cafes that are specialized in coffee. Can't say it's super up there in general but for the Eagle Rock area it's definitely above average. Wouldn't go out of the way for it but if I happen to be here, I wouldn't be mad about the drink. The staff seem friendly and I find the way they make their drinks really cool. Everything is by weight so the recipes seem pretty precise! I will give them props for the intention and time put into each drink.

Super chill coffee shop located in Eagle Rock. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Vanilla Latte- 10/10 Simple but smooth espresso. Lavender Latte- 10/10 Not overpowering on flavor. Very tasty. If you like a boba milk tea type of flavor check this out.

NEW AND IMPROVED MATCHA LATTE. LOOK AT THAT GREEN!!!!!
    Brianna C.

Not only does PDA Coffee serve my FAVORITE latte I've ever had (the espresso they use is so delicious. It doesn't leave a tangy flavor. It doesn't taste like electricity like some coffee shop espressos do), but now they serve the most amazing matcha in the Eagle Rock/Highland Park area. I've had Kumquat matcha, I've had Modu matcha, and the matcha from PDA supersedes the matcha from these places. They use an ample amount of matcha, I mean check out the green!!! Also, the staff is so friendly and cool and make every customer feel welcomed! The inside of this shop is beautiful. The color choices are so funky and fresh! The equipment itself is also stunning and clean! This is my favorite coffee shop for a reason. I'll be a customer for life.

While running errands in the area, we decided to try out this new cafe. The calming lavender blue decor, accented with pops of orange and yellow, immediately made us feel relaxed. The space is a bit small, with a capacity for three customers. There are indoor and outdoor seating options, which is perfect for waiting. We ordered an iced dirty chai with oat milk and an iced cold brew (black). I appreciated the spiciness of the chai, which had just the right amount of sweetness. The cold brew was very refreshing! The barista was quick and welcoming. They accept cash and credit. Street parking is available nearby. They also sell whole coffee beans and bottled/canned beverages such as Topo Chico, Liquid Death, and Olipop. This cafe is a great new addition to the neighborhood!

Kumquat lives off of York Blvd - a street with many families, creatives, and small businesses live. The environment is always wholesome. Their staff are always friendly, and as an experienced barista myself, I can see that their team are also very talented, well trained and very good at quality control. Their espresso is so balanced and sits perfectly center on your palette. Their matcha and hojicha is rich and velvety and seemingly a higher grade product. They work with many roasters, and sell a lot of their beans on their shelves. They also sell a lot of coffee and tea tools. I love everything about coming to Kumquat. Don't skip on their other locations (Loquat and newfound Quat). I'll forever stan this business

*** Cash not accepted ***…read more It has been a few years since my original visit and it looks like Kumquat Coffee is now known as the coffee shop to get matcha and hojicha lattes. Here are some of the key highlights: * In addition to the 2nd location in Downtown LA and a sister coffee shop Loquat Coffee in Cypress Park, the same owners also opened Fondry Bakery in 2024, a coffee roastery called Quat in Glassell Park in October 2025, and a 2nd Loquat location in Silver Lake in December 2025. * Still no private parking lot and the two public parking lots are still your best bet (5033 Lincoln Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90042 & 1311N N Ave 51, Los Angeles, CA 90042). Otherwise street parking is available. * Still no indoor seating with only few small outdoor chairs and a tiny table. * Our party had the Hojicha Latte (half-sweet $6.50) and Matcha Latte ($6.75). Personally, I strongly discourage anyone from getting the half-sweet option as it made the drink taste a bit watery. The Matcha Latte had full sweetness and it tasted about right, but it was still not as good as some other matcha lattes out there. * No public restroom [Conclusion]: A nice coffee shop to stop by while visiting the boutique shops on York Blvd. Decent matcha drinks, but I still prefer matcha drinks from various cafes in Koreatown if I want something on the next level.

Food/Drink: We came here towards the end of May and they had a Fruit Salad Hojicha, BBQ Ribs Latte, & a Baja Blast Matcha tonic on their menus. Of course we all thought those were interesting! What was fascinating is that they had the hojicha + latte on tap and they rotate every month. I got a sample of both and we were all surprised with how amazing their drinks are!! The Fruit Salad Hojicha had a fruit hojicha latte base and they topped it off with some kind of fruit cold foam. I personally am not that much of a hojicha drinker, but it was insane how quickly this drink turned me into one! I legit went back 2 days later with a different group of friends because of how good the drink was! The drink was not too sweet and I really enjoyed the balance of hojicha and fruit. One did not overpower the other and I was amazed. Service: Amazing! I was torn on what drink on tap to get and the lady up front offered samples to me and my party. I am so grateful she did because I was so close to not even purchasing a drink as I was so hesitant, but the Fruit Salad Hojicha definitely locked me in! Ambiance: Such a huge space with lots of outlets. There were also some tabletop games in the corner. The day I came back with my friends, I actually brought our favorite game and it was so cool that we got to play there with their drinks! Overall, this place is a gem and I truly love this concept! My friends and I will definitely be back to play games & try their rotating drinks on tap! :)
