A close friend recommended this place because I was craving specifically sourdough bagels and I am so glad she did! Food: I tried the salmon bagel and it was incredible! They had the right amount of flavor that it did not overpower the bagel itself. I love the texture of sourdough bagels but the taste of the sesame bagel was so yummy! I came back here with my partner and he got the breakfast bagel and it was good too. I will say that I do believe that the everything bagel is too overpowering for the toppings so I would recommend a sesame or plain bagel for that. I ended up purchasing a half dozen of bagels because they were so good! Service: Super awesome! Every single worker I have encountered have been so kind and just amazing service here. Ambiance: Super spacious and also very clean inside! I love how there are so many seats, from the inside and outdoor seating! Overall, love this place and definitely will be back!!

We love this local bagel spot. Great coffee, amazing bagels, extremely helpful/nice staff, and much quicker service than Belle's.

I liked it. Inside is bright with a decent amount of seating. There's also a small side patio area with a few small tables. Came in for some breakfast. I got the breakfast bagel. It was good. I got the everything bagel. It had a nice light crunch with some chewiness on the inside. I liked the thick-cut bacon. Would have liked a few more potatoes on the side though. They have a nice simple menu that also has a breakfast burrito on it so I'll definitely come back to try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

Excellent service and delicious bagels! The space is also very clean and naturally lit. We ordered bagels and an omelette which was nice for a side of additional greens. My favorite was the smoked salmon bagel with the fresh smoked salmon, heirloom tomatoes, cream cheese and greens. I would come back for another bagel! We also had lattes (C&H style) which were well made and milk options included 2% milk, almond milk and oat milk available.

This bagel spot sits in the corner of old stomping grounds and it's perfectly located to serve a variety of social life. The food is presented well and in a way that compliments the flavor of the food the staff is very friendly and prompt. Family owned business Chan & Hernandez. You have to support this local establishment and taste for yourselves.

I had the lox bagel and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The service was great, friendly and quick, which made the experience even better. I also tried their iced latte, and it was really good--smooth and refreshing, a perfect pairing with the bagel. Overall, C & H Bagels is a solid spot for anyone craving a quality bagel and coffee in LA. I'll definitely be back!

C&H Bagels is a corner breakfast spot in Highland Park of LA that offer sandwiches and sourdough bagels with toppings like lox and blueberry sauce, plus other brunchy dishes like waffles, omelets, and breakfast burritos. Interior is spacious with copious amount of natural light and a relaxing atmosphere. They have comfortable indoor and outdoor seats for customers. I came for brunch and had a delightful meal. Their fresh squeezed OJ x pulp was amazing; veggie omelette was flavorful and healthy. Staff were competent and nice. Service was spot on. Prices were competitive. Finding parking was easy. Overall, I enjoyed their food and service. I recommend them.

Pretty excellent bagels with the kind of chewy texture that I love. These are a sourdough base, which imparts a really nice flavor and makes them slightly friendlier on the digestion. This space is beautiful inside, very light, open, spacious. Most tables are for two people, but could easily be combined for larger groups. They offer wifi and the bathroom is convenient and clean! There is outdoor patio seating with umbrellas along the side street. There is nice bar seating in the back to the left of the register which looked super cozy for the cat-like among us who like a high perch in a secluded place I can see this being a nice pace to hang out for a bit while working or studying. They serve open faced bagel sandwiches, hot bagel sandwiches and breakfast plates. The hot bagel sandwiches come with really nice roasted potatoes. We got the BLTA (no tomato, add cheddar cheese) and the Prosciutto Buratta (add a side of avocado), both on everything bagels. They also have plain, poppy seed and sesame seed to choose from. Both sandwiches were excellent. We would easily get either of these again. The flavors were all really nice & well balanced. We also tried their C&H Latte (vanilla & cardamom), both hot and iced and both were so good! My hot latte had lovely latte art and fabulous foam. I wasn't expecting both good bagels *and* good espresso drinks, but both were solid. The flavors were, again, nicely balanced and delicious. They guys who run this place were incredibly friendly and generous. The man who took our order was kind enough to explain the menu and offer suggestions. They even have a dedicated menu of their most popular dishes with photos to help you make easier choices. They checked in on us twice during our meal, which was nice! We were there right up until the close of day (3pm) and their chef came out after our meal to offer us some bagels to take home with us. So kind! This is such a lovely neighborhood spot with a great energy to it and delicious food. The kind of quality, space, passion and people that you love to support. Can't wait to comeback here to try other menu items and enjoy their hospitality again!

This is a solid 3.5. I was walking to my car and caught my eye with the outdoor menu. It looked tasty, so I went in. It's a nice spot with a good amount of seating and great sunlight spilling in. There's a water station to grab utensils and napkins. The server was nice as well. The "usual" (lox) bagel is pretty good, although a tough bite and too much dill. The C&H latte was ok. It needed another pump of vanilla syrup I think. I'm willing to try more bagel options to improve my review so I'll be back soon

Checked out this new spot! The service was great The bagel and coffee was good I definitely would recommend trying this place

'The Usual' - ingredients are really fresh and flavorful

Small cafe that specializes in bagels, but has other breakfast items on the menu like omelets, etc. The folks here are friendly and helpful. Also, at the time of my visit, the place wasn't super crowded, so the vibe felt very chill - just a relaxing morning breakfast. The location is in the North East LA area adjacent or part of the Highland Park/ Mt Washington neighborhoods. Came here and ordered one of the specialties - 'The Usual' on sesame, which is basically the common loaded up dish you see at bagel spots (smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, tomato, etc.). Also ordered a coffee as well. The toppings on the bagel were really fresh and the flavors really came through. Their bagel - at least the default setting or order - is toasted to get a really nice crunch, while still having a good chew. This along with all the toppings resulted in a delightful meal with all the flavors and varying textures on point. I'm a big fan of this spot and hopefully for them, they do get really busy, but if you don't want to deal with crazy crowds and lines with other really popular options in the area, I would definitely consider this spot.

This place is a sleeper hit for more Montreal-esque bagels and it's entirely on par with Courage Bagels for their texture. However, their cream cheese and lox flavors have some room for improvement before catching up to Courage, as well as their produce toppings before catching up to Layla Bagels. The guy inside manning the cash register was super nice and there was no wait, so that wins out both of those establishments in that department.

Absolutely delicious. Staff kindly prepared my order while I waited in my car (sleeping toddlers), then walked it over to my vehicle when it was ready. I ordered "The Usual" and it was fine in 60 seconds. Must try. Place was calm with customers sitting both inside and outdoors.

We parked on the streets a few blocks away and walked towards this cafe. The exterior was green with a very nice sign. When walking inside, you'll notice all the patrons working on the computers or hanging out with a friend. Towards the left side, you'll see the merchandise and the register where you'll order your coffee and food. The coffee bar was alongside the left side of the perimeter. I can't describe it enough - very studio Ghibli, speakeasy, jazzy, and coffee enthusiast themed. The barista greeted us with a smile and was gentle about it. We ordered their black sesame cortado and their signature cortado. We also ordered their breakfast sandwich with sausage. Their cortado was very strong, but had a great sweetness to it. It was decorated with orange citrus and the other one had black sesame seeds sprinkled across the top. It was quite delicious. Their breakfast sandwich was chef's kiss - it reminded me of a good sandwich my mom made me as a kid. It had a runny yolk, toasted bread, some melted cheese, and tomatoes in it. This place gave me such warm emotions inside and just made it feel like home. I understood why every table and seat had a person in it. If you love coffee as much as I do, this has to be on your to-do list when visiting LA.

8/14/2026 First time…read moreat Loop Espresso Club. ESPRESSO CON PANNA I came here to try their Espresso Con Panna. Very little coffee shops sell them, so when I saw it on an online menu, I knew I had to visit. Coffee was fruity, sour, slightly smoky, lingering astringency and bitterness. The cream on top was light in sweetness. Overall it was okay, but still disappointing. It wasn't a smooth espresso, flavor was all over the place. Wish there was more contrasting temperatures of the hot espresso and cold cream on top too. Coffee beans were Brazilian, Guatemalan, Sumatra, Medium-Dark Roast Coffee. The coffee beans were lightly roasted. ICED MATCHA LATTE WITH MATCHA CREAM TOP Wanted to try their matcha as they really advertised Nami Matcha on their menu. First time trying Nami. Super light on the sweetness overall, hardly any honey or agave in their matcha drink. Matcha was grassy, a bit floral, a bit of sweetness in the matcha, a bit of astringency and bitterness at the end that lingers in your mouth. A lot of things going on, yet there was more of an aftertaste of astringency with bitterness at the end that wasn't pleasant. So strange that the matcha flavor was more on the lighter side, since I did add matcha cream top as well. However, I liked this drink more than the espresso con panna. But I would not reorder both drinks. AMBIANCE + SEATS A bit dark and moody place with dark ceilings, wooden chairs and tables. There were a lot of tables and it was packed today! The only available seats were the benches on the side. There were small tables, so I was able to place my drinks there. It is a nice place to hang out. Lots of points for the ambiance. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was good, staff was nice. It was packed and busy, yet they were nice about answering questions and making sure that everyone got good service. PARKING There is street parking, but even when I went on a weekday, it was difficult to find parking. There were neighborhood parking too, but it was far easier to park closer to the streets than in neighborhood street parking due to many tow away signs and private parking signs. I am open to revisiting although the drinks I ordered were not home runs. I felt there were more coffee or matcha drinks to try and their menu intrigued me.

The roast was smooth and the dollop of almond milk was just right. I'm glad I stopped in. *Street parking.

Kumquat lives off of York Blvd - a street with many families, creatives, and small businesses live. The environment is always wholesome. Their staff are always friendly, and as an experienced barista myself, I can see that their team are also very talented, well trained and very good at quality control. Their espresso is so balanced and sits perfectly center on your palette. Their matcha and hojicha is rich and velvety and seemingly a higher grade product. They work with many roasters, and sell a lot of their beans on their shelves. They also sell a lot of coffee and tea tools. I love everything about coming to Kumquat. Don't skip on their other locations (Loquat and newfound Quat). I'll forever stan this business

*** Cash not accepted ***…read more It has been a few years since my original visit and it looks like Kumquat Coffee is now known as the coffee shop to get matcha and hojicha lattes. Here are some of the key highlights: * In addition to the 2nd location in Downtown LA and a sister coffee shop Loquat Coffee in Cypress Park, the same owners also opened Fondry Bakery in 2024, a coffee roastery called Quat in Glassell Park in October 2025, and a 2nd Loquat location in Silver Lake in December 2025. * Still no private parking lot and the two public parking lots are still your best bet (5033 Lincoln Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90042 & 1311N N Ave 51, Los Angeles, CA 90042). Otherwise street parking is available. * Still no indoor seating with only few small outdoor chairs and a tiny table. * Our party had the Hojicha Latte (half-sweet $6.50) and Matcha Latte ($6.75). Personally, I strongly discourage anyone from getting the half-sweet option as it made the drink taste a bit watery. The Matcha Latte had full sweetness and it tasted about right, but it was still not as good as some other matcha lattes out there. * No public restroom [Conclusion]: A nice coffee shop to stop by while visiting the boutique shops on York Blvd. Decent matcha drinks, but I still prefer matcha drinks from various cafes in Koreatown if I want something on the next level.
