Cool 4th floor spot in the residence inn. Not a great view as it's mostly parking lot but still cool overlooking downtown Phoenix. The décor is vibrant and fun. Drink menu is an adventure to look at (grab the physical one instead of QR to get full experience) with detailed descriptions, cool names and neat stylized photos of the array of hand crafted cocktails. Located in the downtown Phoenix area is Little Rituals. My friends decided to have a night out to toast to life, and mentioned this as a great place for cocktails. I love this hidden gem. We have gone here a handful of times and constantly impressed by their service and friendliness. The staff always treats us with free shots and the food is really good and they have a very big range of fun drinks for all to try. We stayed in the Residence Inn by Marriott and upon check in, they told us there was a bar on the 4th floor. I brushed it off, thinking hotel bars are never that great anyway but not the case with Little Rituals! We went to dinner and on the walk back, put our names down on the waitlist. By the time we got back to the hotel, two seats had opened up. The inside is dimly lit and feels trendy. We got three drinks and all of them were well balanced and delicious. We sat at the bar and were able to watch one of the bartenders make the drinks. We also asked him some questions about them and he was quite knowledgeable. It was so nice to get a little buzz and then go back upstairs to our room. Would definitely recommend checking out whether or not you're staying at the hotel! read more

Anyway, we got a pretty decent view of the downtown area. The service was wonderful. We ordered cocktails and shared the Hurricane Frites. I really liked them but felt they were more spicy than full of flavor. We also ordered the lamb lollipops which were small chops. They were cooked well done and didn't have flavor which is no bueno for me. I would definitely visit again for drinks though and maybe even try the wings. Very few small hiccups in altogether an excellent dining and imbibing experience. We had the clams appetizer which was different and not strongly of clams due to the addition of lamb sausage but was absolutely delicious. 3 of the 4 cocktails we ordered were extremely delicious, well balanced and so creative it was often difficult to readily identify the base spirit. The fourth was fine, just not as standout and not to my taste. We both ordered pasta entrees. Lobster bucatini, which was rich and full flavored and generous with lobster. He had lamb parpadelle which was also rich and excellently balanced. All our food was served with outstanding grilled bread. Service was attentive and ambiance is stylized retro with cool music vibes. The noise level allowed for conversation but it was not busy on this Tuesday night. My other drink, Hopeless Romantic, was a nice sour cocktail. We had the lamb lollipops and they were the best I ever had (also the most expensive). The charcuterie board was good with freshly grilled bread. Unfortunately one of the meats that I think was prosciutto was mostly just rolls of fat. (See photo.) Am asking too much to have more protein than fat with my meats? No explanation of the items on the board was ever given. We decided to order more food after this which might have been a mistake. We waited about 20 minutes for an order of fries and broccolini. The broccolini was too salty and the fries were not hot and a bit soggy. The ambiance was fun, dark and intimate. TL;DR - glorified bar food attempting a culinary fusion that didn't work for me. OK cocktails that may be good on the right night. Somewhat disappointing based on the current Yelp score of 4.5. VIBE Located on the 4th floor of the Residence Inn Marriott, its atmosphere is dark with decor split between a speak-easy and a modern night club. Not overly busy on a Friday night after a Sun's game, yet my walk-in party of 3 and another walk-in party of 1 were held at the door for about 4-5 minutes. Once inside there appeared to be no lack of open tables and no real reason for holding us at the entryway. FOOD My party only ordered from the "Shareables" menu section, including: Sonoran Elote Dogs, Pork Belly Bites, Disco Fries, and Lamb Meatballs. Sonoran Elote Dogs: little to love about these three small wagyu beef corn dogs. I can't say I taste the difference from regular hot dogs. The dish's Sonoran Elote fusion is weak: a little salsa, cotija cheese and crema smeared on the plate is the attempt. My hope from the menu text was the dish would resemble a Korean corn dog with bits of juicy corn stuck in the batter or maybe covered in corn salsa. Yes, the corn dog batter is made with corn, yet when I read "elote" my expectation is corn would be featured prominently in the recipe. Pork Belly Bites: the pork was tasty and juicy. An underwhelming portion size for a $14 price point. The rice crackers drenched in plum sauce did nothing for my party and went virtually untouched. Disco Fries: delicious upscale bar food! Good balance of peppered and nicely fried fries. The plate was licked clean by my party. Lamb Meatballs: tasty and fully consumed by the table. Slightly above average yet not flavorfully adventurous. DRINKS I had two Palomas and they were... OK. If I were at a bar not claiming to be a cocktail bar and I was served a Paloma of this caliber, I would be pleased. Yet at a cocktail bar and for a $15 price point in downtown Phoenix, I expect a little more balance and wow factor. SUMMARY If you're staying at the Residence Inn then Little Rituals is a fine hotel bar and likely a cut above most hotel bars. Yet in the landscape of great cocktail bars and restaurants all in walking distance in downtown Phoenix, Little Rituals wouldn't be for me a preferred recommendation and below the middle of the pack of places I would dine. I would try the bar again just to reconfirm or to dispel my current review. read more

Normally, LR is amazing on all fronts, but there was a disappointing hiccup the night I went, and it was upsetting. It started off great with our server being very attentive and taking our orders so quickly. The downfall was slowly building as our appetizers reached the table before our drinks did - which is not a big deal, but definitely is not the Lord's order of things. We had the baguette, the deviled eggs, and the chicken buns. The deviled eggs were terrible and misrepresented in that they were simply boiled eggs with some kind of fishy mush drizzled on top. When I slice them open, there was dry, overcooked yolk inside; such a disappointment. The other apps were great! Now, fast forward to an hour+ later - our dinner finally arrives. The MKT price steak showed up looking pre-chewed, overcooked (requested medium rare, basically 'mooing'), and it was everything but appealing. It was hard to even take seriously. Not to mention, EVERYTHING was cold. My dip sandwich had burnt meat inside and was cold as well. My friend ordered the chicken sandwich, and besides the fact that it was cold, he ate half because he was starving. To put it nicely, I've been here many, many, many times and I would have let all of this slide but sadly, I invited my 2 friends and it was their first time so I was so embarrassed. But what was awful was the customer service. From the girls at the check in, who acted like ordering to-go was a HUGE inconvenience and did not welcome us warmly, to the dry, boring waiter we had that served us drinks who did not smile one time or engage in any conversation. My friend and I went to this place for a girl's night, and I really liked the aesthetics with different neon lights. We didn't wait for a long hour, so that was the good part.
