Carry On was a great experience for our bachelorette party (or any sort of special occasion, really)! We had a 7:30pm flight to Mexico City and arrived about 10 minutes early which ended up being perfect because there was already a line forming outside. You really feel the 70s vibes from the moment you step onto the "airplane". The team did an amazing job with the ambiance and you can tell a lot of thought was put into every aspect of the space. It's such a fun immersive experience. Server and bartenders were friendly and fun, and the vibes all around were just super happy. I loved the rolling martini cart that came around! The only reason I'm knocking a star is because when we booked (a party larger than 5) I emailed with the team there for our reservation. They mentioned the option to upgrade the reservation to a $100/person meal option which I declined. After we were seated small bites were passed around the plane. We noticed every table received it, so I truly thought it was part of the standard experience. It wasn't until the 3rd round of small bites went around that I realized we will probably be charged for the full service experience (which we were). Because this was a new experience for us, my suggestion would be to confirm the experiences with our table prior to passing around offerings. What a unique experience! We've been to the train bar in Arcadia before and when we saw a collab with chilte we had to check it out. We got to wren and wolf around 7:10 and they had our "tickets" for us. When we got in front of carry on, we were the first ones in line. We expected to get on sooner because the tickets said 7:30 but I guess the time to actually go inside, not when takeoff is. We sat down and got welcome drinks and peanuts. About 10 minutes after they started to take drink orders. I'm a lightweight so I didn't get anything but my husband got the chilte collab drink. It tasted a lot like tomato and was super unique. The tuna tostada was great alongside the pepper on the side. We then got mole which was the star of the show. The mole was so unique and spicy, I'd never had a mole like that before. The flight was 4d in that it moved like a real airplane. They then come around for martini cart service. They shake it in front of you so we had to try the dirty martini togarashi. It was super unique and perfectly salty. We then got the chilte taco which was good but nothing special. The dessert however was amazing! It tasted like a cheesecake. We then "landed" - it was faster than I thought, as it's 1.5 hours but settling in and getting everyone inside takes a while. The bathroom was a cool airplane looking bathroom, but huge. The downside was that it was quite pricey, and the train bar has a booking cost but it goes to your drinks so I'll likely do that before coming here again. read more

Finally, a location we have been trying to see but our sporadic trips to Arizona have made it hard until now. We stopped by Wren & Wolf to collect our boarding passes and sat down to relax in the lounge until we got closer to boarding time. We then walked around the building to the dimly lit entrance and waited behind the ropes. At exactly the boarding time, the captain opened the doors and greeted us. We walked by the check-in area, and our tickets were checked. The stewardesses then gave us a pair of wings. This flight was to Tokyo and the travel warning mentioned kaiju activities. Glancing into the seating area it was shaped like a luxury plane with windows and ample space to move around. At the back of the plane were seats wrapping around and the cabin was very beautifully decorated. Towards the front of the aircraft, there was a beautiful bar. The photos in the advertisements are not photoshopped the place is amazing. The stewardesses escorted us to our seats and they were very comfortable. Depending on group size you either get a small table for two or for 4. This reminded us of the movie Soul Plane lol. Kiki and Madie were our stewardesses on the flight and started us with a complimentary drink and some peanuts. As we were taking off you could see the plane taking off through the windows and you could feel vibrations on the floor as if the plane was rolling. Then once in the air they played a large selection of music. Keep an eye out the windows because you will see strange things like we spotted King Kong and then while in flight we saw Ghidorah fly by and I think I got a glimpse of Mothra, but was not sure. Kiki and Madie were amazing they kept the drinks flowing and we watched the captain make drinks because he was also the bartender. We then ran into turbulence and into a storm and spotted Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and Ghidorah amidst the dark clouds and lightning. Then at this time the martini carts came around serving handcrafted martinis at your table side. After we got out of the dark clouds there was a tasty cookie and more drinks. The service was amazing. Kiki and Madie were Rockstars and were very efficient at their jobs. They provided light conversation and were knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. When we got close to Tokyo and were ready to land there was a last call and we could see Tokyo from the windows as we did our final approach. The whole experience was well worth it and each flight is different. We spoke to some other passengers who have been on other flights and they can't get enough of it. The captain's quarters section in the front of the plane served some The flight time was 90 minutes and there is a bathroom on the plane. OK, so I have to say the reservation process was a major turn off for me for the longest time, but it's well worth it! I'm not a huge fan of queues and drop times but I would 1000% do this again. I brought my boyfriend for his birthday and our flight was from NY to Tokyo. PDC nailed it again with this concept. You literally feel like you're on a flight and their drinks were so on point. Super cute! getting a reservation is not easy- you have to sign up to get the link to the ticket drop. You have to sign up before Sunday which is when they send the link. Then Monday at 10am it opens and you need to be on the website on or before 10 to get in line. Time slots fill up super fast because it's a small venue. So it takes some planning and have back up dates/ times ready! Also it's even harder to get a 4 person res, 2 person reservations are easier. The theme is really fun and rotates. You all "board" at the same time and there are announcements from the pilots that support the flight location. Some entertaining views from the window occur too! The drinks and treats were also great- the cookies at the end were really good! I enjoyed our drinks and when I ordered one I didn't love they let me get a different one. We have been to Carry On a couple of times now, first for their flight to SFO which was a great experience. We were a little shocked by the price tag even after paying $50 for the initial reservations but for the experience, it was still very unique and enjoyed our time there. We recently went again for the Tokyo flight and while there was changes to the actual video of the flight, it wasn't enough to be worth the price again. Flight attendant and pilot greeted us, opened the door and gave us our flight wings and escorted us to our seats. We were given our free drink that was a nice orange color but taste was not for me and my friend. We ordered a cosmopolitan and we took off to Tokyo! While in flight we enjoyed the ambiance and then the martini cart came by and we ordered a dirty martini. Not the best martini I've ever had, but not bad. They have a dedicated bartender, a pilot that provides fun updates throughout the flight and flight attendants decked out in 60's style uniforms. It's a fun experience. Not cheap, but fun! read more

We were so pumped for a blended night of world class tacos and a themed cocktail bar. With El Cafe de Leon we felt like this would be a no brainer. We were greeted warmly by the front staff at wren and wolf which is where you get your boarding passes. We then went around the corner to the "Orange Door" and waited for boarding. To our surprise there were no delays despite the rare weather we experienced here in phoenix so we were welcomed and seated. Going back in time is cool for the nostalgic for some that had experienced in the past. Despite being over 40 this was an experience style I never had which had me that much more appreciative of all the detail. From the napkins to the stemware, the high arching wood accents to the signage; everything made me feel like I also was being transported into another time We were given our complimentary cocktail which despite being a tequila base my wife even thought was tasty. After another round of drinks was ordered the engines fired on and we took off. Once in flight our drinks and the flight of tacos began to come. As we continued to eat sip and savor we just took it all in. Great music looking out the windows and marveling at the amazing staff now going around making martinis. Such a well oiled machine this concept really does make your experience feel like you're flying. IT truly is worth at least one visit. In closing I didn't have much to say about the food because well food is like art - it's subjective and that means that not everyone is going to have the same opinion since we all have different taste. Really cool experience. From the doors about to close for boarding (almost didn't make it) to the flight attendants and PA announcements, this definitely was an experience. We were greeted onboard with a welcome drink. The theme for this was Michelin pop up with a flight from San Francisco to Mexico that featured tacos. Unfortunately, this was a last minute invite from a friend due to another cancellation and I didn't realize the only tacos served were beef and pork which I don't eat. I still enjoyed a non alcoholic beverage and eventually ordered one alcoholic beverage as well! We had such a fun night at Carry On. We knew exactly what to expect going in, and it completely delivered. When you arrive, you check in at Wren and Wolf to get your boarding pass, then walk around the corner to the Carry On door. They open the door promptly at boarding time and everyone boards together. Once inside, you're seated and greeted with a welcome cocktail that isn't overly sweet. It's really fun that all the staff are dressed like pilots and flight attendants. When the flight begins, the windows of the plane appear to open and you see different views as you travel during the experience. The ambience inside is super cool, and the attention to detail is impressive....you even know when someone is using the restroom! This weekend's route was NYC to Tokyo, and I loved the themed cocktails. The chocolate martini was fantastic, and my husband really enjoyed their version of a Penicillin cocktail. A tip for getting tickets: you need to sign up for Carry On well in advance so you receive the ticket drop email that comes on Sundays. Then on Monday morning you log in to purchase your time slot (around 10 AM). I recommend logging in about 20-30 minutes early to get in the queue. There are only a few booths for four people, so if you're booking for a party of four, definitely try to grab tickets early. There seemed to be more openings for tables of two. One thing to keep in mind: there is no food offered (unless you buy the upgraded experience) so I recommend eating before you go. They do provide some wasabi peanuts at take off and a couple of cookies at the end, but that's it. We knew that ahead of time, so we were prepared. The experience was great! I finally got to mark it off of my bucket list. The setup and ambiance was really nice. It was like being on an actual private jet or flight. From the check in, the flight attendant uniforms, and the windows displaying views as if you are in the air, made the experience even more realistic. However, I was a little disappointed, because I thought I saw something on the website about then serving lite appetizers, so I did not eat before arriving. Because I can't do lactose very well I got the dairy free option and boy was it really good? My friend got the regular stuff and I was really jealous of the Fromager D'Affinois. Well the experience was awesome...I mean, absolutely awesome. We paid 25 bucks per person for a 90-minute "flight" from NYC to Tokyo, Japan. As you walk through the boarding doors, you receive your tickets and are then seated by the flight attendants. We had a welcome drink... non-alcoholic for me, of course. The seats vibrate as we take off from NYC, and we start cruising at 37000 feet. We order our main drinks which included a non-alcoholic drink for the wife since the welcome drinks were a bit strong for her...LOL!! The next phase involves receiving some wonderful wasabi peanuts, which were actually pretty good considering I don't really like peanuts. We ran into some "turbulence." However, during that time, they played "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins. For the youngsters reading this, ask your parents about this...LOL!! While that was happening, the flight attendants brought mini cards with Martini options, but only a couple of passengers wanted them. I had to use the restroom and of course it was just like an airplane restroom but bigger...LOL!! When I returned to my seat, we were treated to a sweet treat (black and white cookie). It was pretty good, and we enjoyed it as we made our final descent into Tokyo. Last call time for drinks, we settled our tab, and we landed safely in Tokyo. What a fantastic experience with Carry On Airlines. My husband and I have been trying to snag tickets to this speakeasy for months. We booked the last flight to Tokyo at 9:30pm, and it was pleasantly turbulent :) Let me give you some insight about the experience prior to boarding. The bar is located around the corner from Wren & Wolf. You actually have to check in at Wren & Wolf to grab your boarding pass. Parking is a little hectic, but that is to be expected downtown. There is a garage right beside the restaurant, and I believe Wren & Wolf validates for tha garage, but we ended up parking at a garage near the Renaissance Hotel for $5 per hour, totaling $10 for our time there. After grabbing our boarding pass, we waited in line for a few minutes and then boarded the plane. The flight attendants served us a fruity coconut welcome cocktail, accompanied with ginger & soy peanuts. They were delicious, my husband tore them up. After the flight attendants went over our safety guidelines, we were on our way to Tokyo. The bar is absolutely stunning, gorgeous, immaculate. The flight animations were so realistic, at one point I thought I was actually traveling across the country. The music was incredible, my type of playlist for sure. The drinks were amazingly crafted, spirit forward, and had great presentation. Unfortunately, there were a few drink that were not available on our flight, but we didn't even care because the experience was amazing. Halfway through the flight, it was "Martini Hour", and the flight attendants pushed out carts and made our cocktails table side. We were also given a delicious cookies to pair with our drinks. This was a really fun night out. My MIL booked this for us and we had such a great experience. She missed it but you pick up your tickets at Wren & Wolf. From the moment we stepped onboard we were treated to great customer service. All of the flight attendants were really nice and made sure we were good. The starting drink was tasty as were all of the other drinks we ordered. The cookies were sooooo good. So good! Our total time in was about 90 minutes, they start and stop on time. You get the flight experience with the announcements and shaky seats if you're seated in a booth. The pictures in the window simulate an actual plane ride and add to your experience. The "cabin" area is fairly small with only about 12 or so tables. Plan ahead if you're thinking about going but definitely go. It was so much fun. read more

The ambiance of it all was incredible. Everything mimics the airplane. I was called a couple days ahead of my booking to see if I'd be willing to change my reservation time, as the system had overbooked for the slot I had originally booked. As a reward for picking a different slot, I was upgraded to the Captain's Club! I'm so grateful that it ended up working out that way because the experience was just so satisfying. I think carry on lives up to the hype Here's my thoughts. From the second you "check in," you're transported- complete with turbulence, mood lighting, cute branding and cocktail carts. I went with the Captain's Club ($100/person) which includes: Welcome cocktail + snacks 3 craft cocktails of your choice 4-course tasting menu ... and IMO, it's totally worth it if you're planning on having a few drinks each. Pro tip: Do the martini service. They roll out the cart like you're in first class and shake it tableside. Food-wise, it could use some work tbh. And they are small bites so don't expect this to be a full meal. King Crab Louie - fresh + delicious Lobster Arancini - more cheese than lobster, and a little cold Oaxacan Beef Crostini - flavorful but cold bread threw it off White Chocolate Passionfruit Tart - dreamy and paired perfectly with cocktails Fave drinks: - The Vodka Drink, Pornstar Martini (from the martini cart!), Old Fashioned. I've been to a few speakeasy bars but this is my new favorite. It is hard to get reservations but now I understand. It is a small intimate space so they can only accommodate so many people. If you are able to get reservations, I don't think you will be disappointed. I enjoyed every minute of the experience. From getting the boarding pass, to boarding, to getting our drinks, to landing. The stewardesses and pilots made the experience that much better. The drinks and food were also good. We did the SF to Mexico City flight so we enjoyed some delicious tacos during our flight. Once you receive the email after months of already waiting, you are then directed to some third party page to guess what? wait in line .. it could be an hour. Reservations are all online, which opens the Monday at 10am before you want to set it for and the links are sent on Sunday. It's by the tables of 2, 3, or 5 so round up or reserve multiple tables if need be (though you can contact them for parties Iarger than 6). Unlike The Trophy Room, this deposit is not applied to the final bill - this deposit does however include a welcome cocktail (not of your choosing, it's a strawberry bubbly drink), peanuts (with 2 seasonings - a plain and a Cajun one), and a shortbread cookie for each person. You'll check in with the hostess of Wolf and Wren and the reservation is a neat boarding pass where you'll go around the corner to "board the plane." A enamel pin is also included and they do validate parking in their parking structure (Two Renaissance) for 2-3 hours I can't recall. The interior is pretty spectacular and the bartenders and servers are dressed up as pilots and flight attendants. The concept goes from a domestic to international destination so for this route, it went from SFO to Mexico City. 2 main comments: -- Of all the destinations in the world, it's a bit disappointing they chose Mexico City which is right south of our border. They said they'll change destinations every year so hope there's a better change in scenery for the next journey. -- Missed huge opportunity to offer a "flight of drinks" (or even liquor from the destination i.e. tequila for Mexico City) to go with the theme. I tried suggesting it to the bartender and he kinda scoffed and said I could open my own plane bar and do it better... There's not much I need to say about Carry On that hasn't been said by USA Today, the James Beard Awards or North America's 50 Best Bars. The airplane-themed bar is a one-of-a-kind experience in Phoenix, if not the country. Designed to look like the interior of a 1970s plane, Carry On's experience begins before you even open the door. After checking in at the counter, guests are allowed into the body of the plane, which is intimate, stylish and period-accurate. Servers wear groovy retro stewardess dresses, while bartenders are dressed like pilots. The "flight" goes between San Francisco and Mexico, and for the duration of your journey, you're served excellent cocktails while you look out the windows of the plane and chat with your companions. I'm partial to fruity, sweet drinks, so I love the Pink Squirrel, Blue Hawaiian and the Harvey Wallbanger. The Jungle Bird is sweet as well, but quite strong. Near the end of your 90-minute experience, the servers come around with the drink cart and make tableside martinis. I always get the Porn Star martini. The Carry On experience is not cheap, and reservations are hard to get--you have to log on at 10 a.m. Monday morning to try to get one. Also, be advised that there is virtually no food served--a small bowl of nuts at the beginning and two tiny cookies at the end. Oh how I wish I could rate this more than 5 Stars! Had the best time at Carry On an immersive cocktail experience in PHX! Combining my love of travel and cocktails it was a flight I'm glad I didn't miss! Imagine yourself in first class on a jumbo jet in the 1970s. Brown leather. FAs in gogo outfits and boots. Pilots in aviators. All the comforts of first class. Combine that with modern day takes on classic cocktails and you have an experience unlike any other. Interactive screens take you on a flight from SFO-MMX in 90 minutes. The vibrations give it an actual airplane feel. Every detail made the experience that much more like being in first class. The cocktails were divine! Such a great spin on the classics and brining the 1970s to modern day. Enjoyed the city specialties as well. Peanuts and cookies were nice touches as well. I appreciated them as I like a little nibble when I drink. Everyone could not have been nicer! I haven't seen a group of people thoroughly enjoy their jobs like I did at Carry On. Finally got tickets for the sought after event and also made it for the holiday flight. You are greeted and seated in the cute plane type atmosphere. They offered a small drink and tamales for the table. Nothing to write home about on the items included in the ticket package. Each one of us tried a couple of the drinks on the menu. They were tasty, but so was the price tag. It was nice to have a booth for the group of four but we all agreed its a one and done experience. read more

This was such a unique, one of kind experience, we absolutely loved it! My husband and I went after we had dinner at Wren & Wolf (which is fabulous fyi) that's where you check in to get your boarding pass. You sign up to receive Carry On's email notifications to join the Que for tickets, which go on sale every Monday at 10am for the following week. I had tried a few times to get tickets and it was always sold out, this time I got lucky. The process is frustrating, but it's a popular experience so I suggest just sticking with it. For $40 we purchased a boarding pass for 2 passengers. That included 2 welcome drinks, 2 bowls of peanuts (one plain and one spicy) and two short bread cookies. You also get 2 Wing pins for nostalgia. But it's really about the experience and they didn't skip any details! The flight attendants check you in and you're immediately transported back to the 60's and 70's. The plane is sleek, sophisticated, and retro! It seats about 30 passengers at tables of different sizes depending on your boarding pass. Our two top table had such an intimate vibe. The bar is at the front of the plane and the captain is the bar tender! The welcome drink was a tequila watermelon drink. It was actually pretty good. My husband ordered an old fashion to start and then had a Manhattan when they came around for "Martini Time!" I had a dirty martini with blue cheese olives. We both enjoyed our drinks. The drink menu is unique and on theme. They have San Francisco theme drinks and Mexico City theme drinks. We loved "Martini Time" when the flight attendants came around with the Martini carts, such a fun table side presentation like they did back then. Some might think the cocktails are on the pricier side but it's a cocktail experience so they were the price we expected. The windows of the plane were showing our actual flight from San Francisco to Mexico City the entire time, which was super cool. When we took off we flew over the Golden Gate Bridge. The seats on the plane actually vibrate and hum making you feel like you're flying and experiencing turbulence. The details of it all are what made this experience 5 stars! There are so many...The Captain comes over the speaker a few times and is very clever, the bathroom is even set up like an airplane bathroom (but much bigger,) the check comes in a passport, etc... The whole experience is 90 mins. It's a MUST do at least once!! For a date night, special occasion, night out with your bestie. We had a great time! read more

This place is great. The only downside is trying to get a reservation every week at 10:00 AM on a Monday, which can be really difficult for some work schedules. The inside is beautiful and definitely gives you the feeling of a being in a 70s airplane. The service was outstanding and they were on top of everything. I loved getting a welcome cocktail and seasoned nuts as soon as we sat down. Every drink we tried was delicious and all the little details were fun, like the penguin shaker that they left on the table for the martini. Even the bathroom continued the airline theme. 10/10 I saw this on Instagram and I knew I had to experience it in person. It 100% lives up to the hype. One thing I didn't think about was making reservations, so make your reservations as early as possible to ensure you are a valid ticket holder for the flight. If you forget, don't fret, check the website frequently for standby tickets. We happened to snag a table for two the day before departure. Our flight was San Fran to Mexico City. I love the rumbling to simulate actual flight. The visual nods to each destination out side of our windows was amazing. The cocktails were also first class. You get a small taster when you first board, a full range of cocktails in flight, and even a martini bar cart during the flight. All of our cocktails were expertly crafted and we had a spectacular time. read more

Carry On was a unique cocktail experience. The interior design was immaculate. I felt like I was flying in the 70s on a luxury airline. The staff was very entertaining. The welcome cocktails were so good. We ended up ordering those to be our main cocktails. Next time I go, I'll definitely be ordering a martini. They had "turbulence" while making the martini. It was entertaining! All of this was happening, the middle of the cabin. The staff was cheering on the person who ordered it. It was fun. I highly suggest going with a group or with one other person. I just tagged along so the whole reservation process is lost on me. We arrive for the reserved time. They seat us and I love me a theme bar. It's supposed to be like a 70's type of flight with announcements over the PA and takeoff, flying, and landing can be seen through the "windows". It's neat. We were given a first beverage and it was explained to us what it was but I wasn't really listening. We were given spicy nuts. The service was great. They had a menu of crafty cocktails and mid flight there was a martini cart service. They gave us a couple cookies at the end but not enough for everyone to have one each so that was weird. And then there was an extra fee on the bill that I don't know what it was for.. And it wasn't just a small fee. Paid the bill. Left before the plane landed. read more

My BFF was able to book "flight", and I'm not sure if it was worth the stress, but it was such a fun experience! I LOVED every minute of it!!! Tickets open up on the website every Monday at 10:00 am Phoenix time for flights for the following Friday through Thursday, and it was honestly like trying to get concert tickets. We both logged on prior to the tickets becoming available, and by the time they opened, she had about 500 people ahead of her and I had over 900 people ahead of me. When we finally got through, she was able to get a flight for Sunday at 9:30, but by the time I got through there were only flights at 9:30 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. According to her, there were some hiccups with trying to process the transaction, as initially she booked the 3:30 flight, but had technical issues, and lost that reservation. It costed us $40 for 2 people which included a 90 minute "flight" with welcome cocktails, peanuts, and a few chocolate shortbread cookies. Our flight was from San Francisco to Mexico City. I loved the retro theme of the whole experience - all the details were on point! After checking in at the Wren & Wolf, we received our boarding passes, complete with carbon copy paper tickets. When we entered the "plane", we were seated at adorable lounge seats and watched the captains mixing and serving drinks, and the two flight attendants took orders for other drinks from the SF and Mexico themed drink menu. Drink prices are on the higher end but you are paying for the experience. Halfway through the flight, the flight attendants rolled out the martini carts and made our drinks with a lot of drama and flair. Our flight attendant was so cute and bubbly throughout the flight and making our drinks, you can't help but smile. The drinks were made in penguin shaped shakers to go with the penguin logo. The flight was an immersive experience and it was so neat! The windows have a low resolution screen that make it look like you are taking off and landing, flying over the Golden Gate Bridge and the Aztec pyramids, and the seats vibrate and make it feel like you are going up and down and flying through turbulence. They started offering a Captain's Club menu on certain flights for a 4 course light bite and 3 drinks for $100, and I'm curious what is on that menu.
