Great breakfast place from the coffee to basically anything on the menu. That gets a 5.. Even the crowding is fine once you are seated. They still have specific male- female bathrooms which could be made available to both or 100 of the new sex orientations. My only problem is their hours. Most breakfast places seat diners during their open hours. If it says 1:30pm then the staff can get out by 2:30. This restaurant tends to push people away - who are there for brunch - at about 12:15. Not sure the owners know how much business they are actually turning away since it's not apparent that once someone has been turned away over an hour before their end of day never bother to return. Also now that tips aren't technically taxed I would think employees would like a full day of work. Perhaps they need 2 shifts of wait staff and/or open for breakfast at 8:00am rather than 7:00. I moved to Manchester 3 yrs ago and have been baffled by the shortage of people willing to work full time or employers willing to add part-time workers on their busy days (Friday through Monday) There must be a way to keep staff and accommodate early afternoon brunch (10-2pm) diners. Manchester is basically a resort town that has kept its small town feel - which is a positive - but most restaurants in the area depend on seasonal diners. (Ski season, Fall foliage (leaf peepers, Summer equestrian, musical, play events and quiet during "mud season" so many businesses take a break some time during April/May. Manchester is an odd duck of a town - more New England than upstate NY or E. Pennsylvania. Some old locals insist on calling lunch - dinner and dinner supper which just confuses anyone who isn't a member of the DAR. (Daughters of the American Revolution) I have friends here who had relatives come over on the Mayflower - it was obviously a VERY crowded boat. read more

My wife and I went three for a quick brunch before they closed and really enjoyed it. I had an omelette with Brie cheese, apples and bacon. The omelette was overflowing with the apples and had a good amount of bacon. I typically don't order and omelette with fruit but wanted to live on the edge and was glad I did My wife had a waffle with bananas and chocolate chips. She really enjoyed it as she's not a huge fan of breakfast meals but this one she fell in love with. Service was super fast and we had out food in minutes. We showed up within an hour of closing and the other tables were lined up to leave. Our food was out in 10 minutes or less. This is a place my parents have been coming to for 10-20 years and pushed us to visit on our vacation. This little breakfast joint is like a morning hug from your grandma--if your grandma only took cash and cooked like a champ. The corned beef hash? Crispy, salty perfection. Blueberry pancakes swimming in Vermont maple syrup? Basically dessert in disguise. Bacon was so crispy it could shatter glass (in the best way). The entire town of Manchester is a dream. Up For Breakfast needs to be everyone's number one stop when you visit. Some things to know: 1) very small which means seating is limited and they do not take reservations 2) it is located on the second floor and is not handicapped accessible 3) cash only - ATMs are located across the street. For the experience, we always have a great time here. The people are nice and the food is tasty. I usually get the Hungry Hiker (which you can't go wrong ordering here) but went with one of their specials this time. If you are lucky to see the Banana Bacon pancakes on the menu, go for it! The maple late is also a staple here. I get it iced and it's the right level of sweet. The inside is very cozy, not great for big parties (4+) or hyper children. The servers will definitely accommodate you and but the vibe is more for an intimate low-key breakfast. read more

I actually never post on yelp, but today I felt inspired to because of how bad my experience was at up for breakfast. the sourdough pancakes are a strange mix of sour and raw. The server, Jasmine was super sweet & informative. Great coffee- what a treat as I am not a fan of Dunkin coffee. THE best corned beef hash I have had in over 20 years! I made sure to compliment the cook! I have 2 cousins who attended the CIA ( Culinary Institute) in NY. Both ran breakfast places & made great CB Hash, this place rivaled them! When I asked my friend for restaurant recommendations near Manchester, Up for Breakfast was number one on the list. It was amazing! As a visitor, I had no idea the restaurant was really "Up" on the second floor. I actually missed it the first time I drove by. Luckily I saw the sign when I drove around again, and found street parking. I was not told that it was cash only, but the owner pointed me to the ATM across the street. Found out the owners were originally from NJ just like me. Very friendly people. Jesse was very nice in recommending me to the dish I ordered...Bistro Omelet. It was heavenly. The coffee was also excellent. As I was eating, the cook came out to use the restroom. She asked me if I like the omelet...I took her yes! She was very nice also. So, come here for breakfast! Plan on waiting a little while for a table because this place is very popular with the locals, and attended extensively by visitors to the area. They only serve breakfast and brunch, and have limited hours, so check to he sure they're open. The owners, Amy and her husband are typically in house, with Amy running the front, and her husband running the kitchen. Amy's background includes a stint as a "service trainer", teaching people how to improve customer service, and she obviously lives by that mantra. I had the "Hungry Hiker", two eggs any style, fresh bakery rye, wheat, or sour-dough, two strips of baco, two sausages, and two pancakes with genuine Vermont pure maple syrup. Everything was high quality, prepared and presented nicely, and very hot. The wife had the "Farmers Omelette", and it was also excellent. The service was excellent and very timely. Up for Breakfast was sold back in August 2022 and is under new ownership. Very happy to say the ambiance, service, and food quality haven't changed. It's still a great place with a great menu. The owner seems to be very "hands on" in the kitchen, which is great. The one downside they didn't change? Cash only!!! I had a veggie scramble with sourdough toast and it was excellent. I snuck in here this past mothers day with my wife and youngest. The place was packed and I was nervous about the service. I was pleasantly surprised to be seated quite quickly, at the bar counter. There seems to have been quite a few changes at UFB and none of them are good. Radio station music, very disappointing food, mediocre service, and plastic dishes. The only thing that remained the same, during this morning's breakfast with my sister, was the hefty price. After over a decade of enjoying everything about this restaurant, it was a total letdown. We are long time local residents and have been to UFB many times over the years. Tend to view UFB favorably for the food. But a few days ago, we waited patiently to be seated to a two-top late morning on a not busy day. Three tables of people left and we still were not seated, the couple in front of us who did get seated still hadn't had their order taken. Had to have been 30 mins elapsed time. We left. Upon checking in with the host she let us know it would be 20-25 min wait. We ended up waiting over 45 minutes to be seated. Once in, it took them 20 minutes to come and check on us and take our order. Once our order was in we WAITED another 45-60 minutes for our food. The waitress checked on us 1x, they sat us next to a window and opened it all the way. We were freezing until my husband closed it. The food is good but NOT WORTH the overall waiting time. Tight quarters made it easy for us to engage the newlyweds sitting about eight inches away from us. They were served ahead of us - we looked longingly at their plates. While staying at a friend's rental during August I visit Up for breakfast. It's on the 2nd floor of a retail building, not sure if they have handicap access. They only accept cash or check for payment. It's a cozy dinning area so I can see this place getting packed. We arrived before the "brunch" crowd and were seated immediately but there were a few parties waiting by the time we finished our meal. The kitchen staff seems with work fairly quickly and the servers are pretty efficient and attentive. I can't remember the woman's name who served our table but she had a great personality. I ordered the Red Flannel (homemade corned beef x Vermont cheddar) omelet with a side of venison sausage and my partner ordered the Omelet with Brie and Apples. These were two of the best omelets I've eaten at a restaurant in a long time! They were cooked perfectly and the ratio of filling to egg was on point. I'm always hesitant to order omelets because they tend to be over cooked but I would 100% recommend trying these dishes. The venison sausage was lean and cooked throughout which is to be expected with game meat. It had a great flavor to it. I'd definitely eat here again. read more

They had seriously good unique breakfast options that were more upscale and unique than the typical omelets and pancakes. I had a salmon dish with hollandaise sauce and I could not get enough. For coffee you can have regular coffee or with hazelnut. Meals are huge so you feel well fed after eating. Since meals are "fancier" than your typical diner do know that the prices match (it is more expensive) but some meals come with coffee. Real maple syrup is an extra charge. There is a men's and women's bathroom near the entrance. Tables with chairs are available or a small bar/stool area. read more
