This is one of my favorite places to get food in town. I think the Pad See-Ew there is the best from other local places I've tried recently. And the fruit freezes are the perfect pick-me-up for any day. There is also the lunch special during the week that starts at eleven and ends at two-thirty. You have a selection of lunch entrees, soup and a little eggroll for $5.99 (plus tax). They accept credit cards for purchases over six dollars. Less than that and you'll need cash. read more

There's no Thai food in the town where I come from so I'm always looking when I'm on the road. Saw this place had decent reviews so I stopped in for some lunch. The menu is great, pictures for every dish but not in a tacky way. This is really helpful for me since I don't speak Vietnamese or Thai, LOL. Don't let that put you off though. The quality of the food was excellent, as was the service. I had chicken satay which was very tasty and nice quality meat. I also had the lunch special basil dish with chicken, medium spicy, which was just right for me. The lunch special included a bowl of soup which was also tasty, hot and served promptly. Highly recommended. The best asian cuisine as well as Thai in Springfield. They have never once messed up an order and their always relatively quick. I recommend the baby egg rolls, Panang, Mongolian Beef, and Red Curry. Ginger Chicken could be better. read more

One of the newest restaurants in Springfield, and the only Vietnamese (I think). It's always amazing! They have actual fresh fruit smoothies. Cantalope and mango are amazing. I get them without the tapioca -- it tastes like bread dough, ugh. The prices are reasonable, pretty standard for Thai in Spfld. The decor is beautifully done -- lime and peach colored walls. Great vegetarian selection. I was scared to try it at first, but it became a weekly thing before I moved. I recommend going with several friends and picking at each other's plates, buffet style. read more

On our way from Chicago to St. Louis, we stopped here for an early dinner. They had a valentine's weekend special (Sunday-Thursday). The special was 1 appetizer and 2 entrees for $17.99. The list to choose from for this special had about 20 choices. I had the general tso chicken and my boyfriend had crazy noodles with tofu. We shared an order of crab ragoons. I love crab ragoons and love trying different restaurants version of a classic. Little Saigon has the best by far that I have tried. They have a light flaky outside with a wonderful creamy center. They served it with a delicious sweet chili sauce. My general tso chicken was very tasty and I had plenty left to bring home. My boyfriends crazy noodles had a very good flavor and it was cooked to perfection. The tofu was delicious. He is used to spicy food and it was not spicy enough for him. Little Sai Gon. A great place to swing by, sit down and grab a bite to eat. Basically everything here is good and obviously authentic (due to the actual Vietnamese in the back room cooking, unlike many "Chinese" restaurants. *Coughs* Panda Express!). The fruit smoothies are a great drink to cool you down after a long jog on the Wabash trail (right off of Wabash). Nice, refreshing and healthy. You can sit down at the bar and see them make it. A little sweet old Vietnamese lady is always there making the smoothies. You order, she cuts the fresh fruit, ads ice, and blends it all together. The prices are ok. Could be a little cheaper, but ok. The service is great and fairly speedy. Many people are there on weekends and nights, so as I can see, many other people like it too. The building is a bit small, so when its crowded it can get a bit frustrating, but not to the point where you will slit your own throat. This place is definitely a jewel in Springfield. I came here for a test and decided to make a stop for dinner before driving home. Found good reviews for it on Yelp and I made a good decision. - location: right off a main road but the parking lot is very small and it was hard pulling into there and I had to go around twice and while I was doing that, the big group of 6-7 kitchen workers were just standing there smoking and staring at me... that was awkward... -decor: The place was decorated with a lot of colors.... There's two entrance for some reason, a bar area, tables, and then the deeper part are booth where I sat. the whole restaurant was not that big but it seemed bigger because of the way they sectioned things off. in the booth section, there is green walls and a huge tv with sports on. -service: my waitress was sooooo nice. I asked for suggestions and she was more than willing to help. VERY VERYYY rare good service at an asian restaurant so I was pleased. - FOOD: so I got... avocado freeze- AH MAZING and really big portions (i didn't even finish) and I asked beforehand to make sure what freezes are made with REAL FRUIT and which ones are made with POWDER (taro, green tea, etc) so make sure you ask if you want the real stuff! lemon grass chicken wings- a bit dry but it was very flavorful and it was pretty cheap (4?) and you get 6 pieces so it was a good appetizer beef salad- which is a lettus wrap with the beef in thai dressing and huge chunks of tomatoe. this taste very THAI. like the dressing they used and it's very refreshing! the beef is a bit dry and not juicy and it was kind of cold but the flavor is really good. another good appetizer to share! Seafood stirfy noodles- I forgot what this was called on the menu but it was with the skinnier chow mian noodles. There was 2 dishs on the menu with similar products but in different sections. one with the noodles as an entree dish (had beef or chicken? and another one in the meal section which was seafood noodles served with salad and soup. they were the same price but one was an entree dish so bigger portion and the other one had a salad that covered half the plate so i asked my waitress about it because I wanted the seafood one but with biggger portions so she offered to replace the salad with extra noodles and it came out PERFECT! i mean obviously there's not that much seafood (shrimp, scallop, squid?) but I'm glad she was able to work with me and she didn't charge me extra so i kind of feel like I got a good deal . read more

It's pretty much our favorite restaurant in Springfield. I go about one every two weeks and my daughter and I always enjoy the Saigon Special (two entrees, and and appetizer for $16.99). It's inexpensive and pretty much everything is well done. Our staples are Pad Thai with shrimp, Panang Curry with vegetables and Summer Rolls but I've tried just about everything on the menu. The Summer Rolls are so great we order them to go and add them to other meals we make at home!!! Everything is fresh and authentic and the menus isn't watered down. The staff is always on spot (shout out to Adam our favorite server) and the lady (who I take to be the manager/owner) remembers clients and is always super friendly. read more

Food taste varies on the time. Not really impressed by the food but the waiter who served us was so excellent.

This is the only place in town to get boba tea! Prices are a bit steep but the restaurant is clean and quiet. I've only tried the phad thai so far and it is ok for Springfield. Their gem is definitely the boba. Be sure to order the boba for take away as it's too large to drink in one sitting. I recommend the taro or anything with mango as they add a nice creaminess to the slush. read more

My boyfriend is from the Springfield area and I'm originally from Chicago. The first time I introduced him to Pho was in Viet Town in Chicago. Little Saigon is hands down the best place (in my opinion) in Springfield for authentic Viet food. It's the closest to many of my favorite home made dishes. I was there last night with another person. We were done eating and I had just paid the bill. The waiter brought my credit card and receipt back and asked if everything was ok. It was fine. Then the waiter said he has something to tell us. It's kind of weird but ok. The waiter then proceeded to tell us that we didn't pay part of the bill the last two times. What???? We have been going to this restaurant for years. More than 15 years probably. We have always paid what is on the ticket and left a tip. He then went on to say something about a carryout we ordered that we didn't pay. Then it was something about two beers. He kept saying it was the last two times we were in. Why did you wait until the third time to say anything? What I suspect happened is he forgot to charge us for something and we didn't notice. He then had to pay the restaurant back out of his own pocket and now he's trying to get the money back. Or sometimes we'd leave cash for the bill and tip on the table. Someone could have pocketed the money instead of taking it up to the register. How can I make a partial payment on a bill at a restaurant and leave? If the waiter failed to charge me for something it's not my fault. I glance at the bill and if the amount looks about right then I don't question it. Out of the thousands of time I have been in a restaurant, I have questioned a bill once, maybe twice. I kept telling the waiter that we have paid what's on the bill every time we've been in. He kept saying he has the tickets and all the waitstaff know we didn't pay. What???? He is doing this in front of other customers. How do I know the tickets are for our table and where is the proof it wasn't paid? He left and then came back with a waitress and the same story again. So now she's chiming in in front of all the other customers. I finally told them to get lost and do not come back to our table. If you forgot to charge a customer something, you need to catch that customer right there and then or the next time you see the customer. Not wait until the third time the customer comes back and accuse the customer of not paying. The strange thing is throughout all of this, the manager never came by. While I like the food there and I've been going to many years, I will NEVER go back. read more

I decided on lunch from Little Saigon after a quick Yelp research. I got the S5: Com Thit Bo Nuong Hot Ga Opla lunch special with fried rice instead of white (great decision). The steak was deliciously marinated/cooked and I loved the sunny-side egg on top-- nice touch. The portion was way more food than I could handle for lunch. The lunch special came with a soup and an egg roll. The soup was okay. The egg roll was a Chinese style eggroll-- I was expecting Vietnamese style.. :-( Oh well, everything else made up for it. I'm definitely considering grabbing another meal from here before I leave Springfield! read more

I travel a lot and one of the things that I always like to eat on the road is pho. So coming to Springfield I thought I would try one of the local places that serve it. The decor is fair at best and the place probably needs to be aired out a little bit. I sat down on a cracked bench but I'm not a big stickler about ambience. I just want good food. Service was pleasant prompt and I have no issues there. However foods the thing and in this case it was not particularly good. The pho was very weak almost tasting like it was an instant broth rather than the traditional 12 hour beef bone broth. The noodles were okay nothing special meat was pretty typical of pho but the whole dish just did not have enough flavor. I know good pho this is not it. I also got the chicken wings and they are very small, with very little meat on them. let's call them pigeon wings rather than chicken wings because they were about that size. The flavor wasn't particularly good on those either and I left half of them. Not to be fair some other dishes looked good and smelled okay as they went by so perhaps I just ordered a couple things on their menu they're not particularly good at. But I don't think I'd ever go back because my meal was pretty mediocre. read more

I came here once when I first moved to town, had the pad Thai. It was unbearably awful. That said, multiple positive testimonials from people whose foodie cred I respect brought me back with a friend. I went with the Panang curry. With the caveat that I will never eat Pad Thai here in a bajiion years, I am a major fan. That curry was fantastic, the menu is extensive (although apparently full of landmines), the interior is bright and pleasantly garish and it's cheap! - Asian food at it's most authentic. A very tastey place to eat. It is the only place that I know of in the area that sercves the rolls of cabbage stuffed with shrimp and other good stuff. It is not spring rolls because it is not fried and is wrapped with translucent cabbage. I remember them from more expensive restaurants in large cities and was very glad to find them. My daughters and I are normally very forgiving and easy to please when it comes to food, but we were terribly disappointed with our meal. The pad Thai and stir fried rice have made Little Saigon a "never again" place for us. I do wonder if there must be other meals that are more their specialty, though, as the parking lot was pretty full and the reviews on here are fairly good. A nice find in Springfield! The service was quick and the prices very affordable. The pho was HUGE!! Had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The brisket could have been a little more tender. Also got the spring rolls which came out piping hot and crunchy. Finished off the meal with a fruit cup (mango, kiwi, and strawberry). The fruit was surprisingly quite fresh and sweet. And in comparison to the tiny little ones with standard fruit you get at Starbucks/Panera bread, this is a steel! read more

Love, love, love Little Saigon!!!! I've introduced so many people to it and everyone is just in love! Not only is their food filling, and amazing, but they also have the best frozen smoothies in the world. They put little tapioca balls in them and they're so good. If I'm ever feeling thai food, Little Saigon is where I go. I've gotten everything from Pineapple and vegetable fried rice to broccoli beef and spring rolls and everything is very good and well prepared.
