Little Wolf is one of the few third-wave coffee places I've found on the North Shore. It's a great experience. The place is designed very beautifully, with a modern minimalist feel and music flowing through an old record player. I talked to Chris who was very friendly and went into great detail about their ethos and process of choosing coffees to roast and blends to serve. I had their iced coffee and it was delicious. Definitely a cool place with a quality product, and I'll definitely make the drive out to them again. read more

Great little coffee haus with a laid back vibe - delicious caffeinated beverages, AJ King pastries, and chill hipster tunes. To top off our first experience- the owner was super nice...which, of course, is everything. And my little one not only enjoyed her babyccino, but the atmosphere, too. The layout of the interior is a little odd.The tables and chairs are arranged in a haphazard manner, but in a very open and airy way. It makes sense when you think that the garage door is also where pallets of greens are delivered which then must be carted through the seating area. More tables and chairs would need to be moved. The bar is to the left of the entry and it's cool and clean and reminds me of Tandem in Portland, ME. That's a compliment.I'm not sure how often they roast here, but the roaster is on full view of the sitting area and bar. The merch shelves are to the right of the door and situated pretty far away from the bar, which seems like a missed sales opportunity. I headed there first as I knew I wanted to leave with a bag of beans. Pricing on the bags is... very high. My beans from Colombia were $12.50 for 8oz. A cup of regular drip coffee to go is $2.50. Though the website shows the owner and barista doing a pour over it wasn't offered on the menu at the time I was there. Service was friendly and fast. My drip coffee was good. I have yet to brew up the beans I brought home. They look great though. I'll be visiting with a book and with more time on my hands. read more

Everything I have ever ordered is amazing! THE DECAF IS NEVER BITTER FOLKS.....such a great flavor profile. I am obsessed with mocha decaf made with oatmilk and their spicy chai. Flavors they add are subtle, not cloyingly sweet and complement the delicious coffee or tea, not cover it. My all time favorite coffee spot, and by the way the baristas always have a friendly word. I use the Odeko app and carside pick up....so helpful in staying safe in 2020. read more

This is my first ever Yelp review!! Snaps!! This is the most lovely gem of a find. Welcome to Portland, Oregon in Ipswich, MA. A hipster haven, a hidden sanctuary. Beautiful branding, kind baristas, and amazing drinks. My order: Coffee Cherry (Cascara) - Tea made from the cherry fruit of the coffee bean. Little Wolf holds a lot of potential to be a coffee establishment that would blow my mind away. But in summary, the service and quality of the coffee is what knocks down my rating two stars. The Product: For having the most state of the art equipment for roasting, grinding and brewing coffee and espresso, I have had higher quality experience with other coffee establishments that barely have half of the technology that Little Wolf has. I ordered a Latte that was on the weaker side of espresso. My boyfriend had a drip coffee which tasted not very strong as well. Atmosphere: The contemporary chic atmosphere is really marvelous, with marble counter tops and modern furniture screams quality. A great atmosphere to go out to coffee, take a drive from Boston to really impress your friend with a great environment to hang out in (which is what my boyfriend and I did!) But, the arrangement seems somewhat strange of the furniture once you sit in several spots, where most of the seating you are blinded by the sunlight unless you sit at the counter. For having so much space, the seating could be arranged much more efficiently. If you plan to do laptop work here, I would rate my work experience as a four. The gleaming sun is hard to compete, so sit at the counter to avoid the battle. Service: The experience I had with the worker behind the counter (which I feel is also the owner) was probably one of the strangest I ever had at any coffee shop. It began by my boyfriend asking what the coffee dip of the day was, if it was a darker or lighter roast where the counter worker said they could not specify, that the coffee doesn't land anywhere on a spectrum. All Coffee lands on this spectrum to estimate what taste it relates to. Either its darker, medium, or lighter, where we know some coffee roasts and blends do not lay strictly on dark, medium or light. I ordered my Latte where the small talk consisted of the worker sharing the coffee grinder was not functioning early and that we had good timing coming when we did. We expressed how it is great timing, where he then shared how much the grinder costed, which lead to an awkward conversation. Anything we mentioned, the worker talked with a strange aggressive overtone. Since both my boyfriend and I are major coffee snobs (to the point we hand grind our coffee every morning and travel a lot just for the purpose of coffee), we always love partaking in conversations with baristas and coffee shop owners. We have experienced this wonderful community of coffee lovers, seeing many people come together passionate about the craft of coffee. This community element is severely lacking at Little Wolf, where the counter worker created a pretentious atmosphere. If this was NYC with a high quality coffee that beats the high standards of the coffee industry, I would not comment at all, but without the quality, the pretentiousness is uncalled for and unwarranted. Again, the potential is very large here, and I only wish the best for Little Wolf. The advertising and logo creation is spot on, giving a warm welcome online and on social media before walking through the door. But once you are actually there, that warm and contemporary coffee feel is ousted by the actuality of the service being pretentious. If the quality is risen and the service becomes warm and outgoing with expanding the knowledge of coffee to it's customers, then Little Wolf will have a bright future. We hope to visit again in the future to see if these elements improve, since we love supporting local roasters in New England. read more

Loved everything about our stop in here! As New Yorkers, we take our cup of joe pretty seriously and Little Wolf doesn't disappoint. The baristas were incredibly kind, personable, and inquisitive about exceeding our coffee expectations. Certainly the best coffee available in Ipswich, though that doesn't mean much. The only other coffee place is Zumi's, and they're coffee is consistently weak and disappointing. Little Wolf seems to be the real deal. The beans are roasted right there and the coffee hasn't been sitting on a warmer for two hours. Prices are higher than I'd like, but definitely acceptable. Those complaining about the interior design should just go to furniture stores and take along a cup of coffee. I don't eat or drink decor. The place is quite comfortable and probably better than the town deserves. It would fit right in on the East Side of Austin, New York or even in straight, inhibited and uptight Boston. Outstanding coffee! Among the best I've ever had, even compared to several tastings at coffee farms around Latin America. Teas are also superb. The owner takes great care in curating his selections and makes sure to pair them with high quality milks, homemade syrups, etc. The prices reflect this and are well worth it. I have enjoyed everything I've tried from the menu, with favorites being the honey cardamom latte from the fall and the Saigon tea with cinnamon and lemongrass. He also carries a small selection of baked goods from Kim Gregory Pure Pastry, which are excellent and often gluten free (still tasty). Be careful if you're apt to get attached to a certain roast or blend (or tea option, or syrup) as they rotate seasonally. I think this keeps it interesting! Great place to work for a while--free wifi--or chat with the friendly owner or locals. Another plus--they take credit cards. read more

Drove 40 minutes today to try this roaster / cafe before moving away in a couple months. Both the espresso and drip were perfectly extracted, delicious coffee. The Burundi espresso was bright and fruity and the Colombian drip tasted like tropical fruit (as stated). The atmosphere was nice and inviting. We bought two bags and decided we'd probably make the trip again once more just to enjoy it before we move away. read more

I went to Little Wolf for the first time today, and I am supremely disappointed. The premise of Little Wolf is that they offer high quality, small batch, in house roasted coffee. I consider myself fairly knowledgable in coffee, both in taste and in process. I like a wide variety of coffee, and have experimented with many different styles of brewing coffee, and have even roasted my own coffee. (My favorite Coffee Shop is J. Rene is West Hartford, CT!) Just about every single criteria about Little Wolf underwhelmed my expectation. The atmosphere is clean, contemporary coffee shop-esque. Unfortunately, the seating is arranged so poorly (and is so scarce) that even though it was a slow day in a spacious building, I had difficulty and little option finding a spot to sit. My only real option was in direct sunlight. There need to be blinds or some kind of diffusion on the windows to make this a comfortable place to sit and enjoy coffee. The coffee is mediocre at best. The cup I had was bland, watery, and not very hot. The guy working who I presume is the owner, offered me a sample cup of the coffee of the day. This was accompanied by some self affirming rhetoric about his roasting process, his issues with his grinder (which he assured me cost $3,000) and some spiel about how there is no such thing as a light or dark roast coffee. This attitude (and the "meh" coffee) left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It is expensive, but its about what I expect to pay for a good cup of artisan coffee. I feel that I'm fairly flexible when it comes to atmosphere. I can deal with an attitude if the coffee is out of this world. In this case, the coffee doesn't live up to the attitude. read more
