From the moment I walked into Bluebonnet Diabetes & Endocrinology, I felt seen and respected--not rushed or reduced to numbers on a chart. Dr. Lalani took the time to truly listen to my health concerns and history. She asked thoughtful questions, reviewed my labs in detail, and created a personalized treatment plan that was both clear and manageable. What stood out most is how collaborative she is. Dr. Lalani explains complex medical issues in a way that's easy to understand, works seamlessly with my PCP, and doesn't make me feel judged--only supported. Whether we're adjusting medications, exploring lifestyle changes, or planning for long-term goals, she makes me feel like an active partner in my own care. Another plus: Dr. Lalani's appointments run on time and she even offers virtual visits, which is a huge help with my busy schedule. If you're struggling to get real answers or tired of feeling like just another case number, Dr. Lalani will be a breath of fresh air. She's not only a brilliant physician but a genuinely kind human being. Highly, highly recommended.

This review is for the person I see the most here, my PA Brandy Wellmon. I was devastated when I…read moregot diagnosed with diabetes and thought I had done something to cause it. She never once made me feel shame and has catered my treatment to my lifestyle and needs. I tend to be really hard on myself and she always redirects and lets me know when something is and will always be out of my control BUT how medical intervention can help. This is going to be a side note but it is important- somehow I had an appointment the month my mother passed and six months later while I was having a miscarriage. The level of care and empathy Brandy showed me really made an impact on me. Both of these situations could have derailed my health, but she was supportive and it made a difference. I feel so lucky to have someone on my team who genuinely cares.

The first appointment went well. Unfortunately the level of professionalism has gone downhill…read morequickly. The appointments desk answers with "Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology, please hold," and doesn't allow the opportunity to tell them you cannot hold. This is especially frustrating when you have been placed on hold and then hung up on a few times. When you need to speak to someone for a purpose other than setting an appointment, you cannot even get your call transferred without holding for several minutes at the very best. . The nurse practitioner was rude and condescending and complained that she was too busy to do her job and admitted that she had to rush my appointment because she was too busy. Dr. Harrison is not as waspish, but she rushed through the appointment like her house was on fire and she needed to get home. This place is disgustingly understaffed and it is clear that the practice management is more focused on getting their hands in your pockets than providing adequate patient support and care. If you are svelte and tall they will like you; if you are obese, they will make getting you on GLPs to lose weight The main priority regardless of whether you can afford them or not. Dr. Harrison clearly bases her obesity determination solel. on BMI, which medical research is indicating is not best indicator of a healthy weight. The main problem with the understaffing is that you will be rushed through the appointment so fast that you will not have an opportunity to fully disclose and discuss your current symptoms, past treatment or any other information that could result in an accurate diagnosis and treatment. You will receive the most obvious and easiest diagnosis to spit out, regardless of any additional symptoms that could possibly indicate something rarer or more complicated to manage. It's not like they have time for that, after all.

When I was diagnosed Bipolar, about 7 years ago, I honestly thought I was going to die before…read morefinding help. I lost hope and I would sleep more than 12 hours a day plus naps during the day. My depression got so bad that I would tell my husband and kids not to include me in their weekend plans anymore. And I live that way for many years (I'm only 34)....until I met McCall. My TSH levels were at a 19! No wonder why I was suicidal and tired 24/7. I tried to control my Bipolar symptoms for years without success. I tried medication and therapy but nothing seemed to help. I was stuck. Now, a year later on Armour medication, I look forward to the future. I make plans for the future. My kids look happy since I'm always around cooking their favorite foods and we even planted a vegetable garden that has some weird shaped cucumbers growing. And I'm happy my husband didn't divorce me lol, he stayed with me even in this crazy rollercoaster. I'm so thankful for McCall. She listened to me even at my lowest point. She offered help and hope and that is something that not every doctor gives you. She cared and I was able to trust her and her judgement. Life is still hard. Some days are not perfect but I just look back at my progress and I do Thank God for finding McCall. She's amazing!

I can say without a doubt that McCall has helped save my life. If that sounds dramatic to you…read morethat's ok, but it's true. I call her Double Mac, and as you can see from her picture, she clearly does not eat them b/c she's beautiful - outside AND inside. To explain how I feel about Double Mac I have to get personal, hopefully you'll be ok with this and not judgmental... Over a year ago I began struggling with my worst bout of depression I had ever experienced and I had no idea what to do or where to go. No psychiatrist's office was accepting my form of insurance and I could not afford $200+ and hour to see a psychiatrist. So, I had my name on waiting lists hoping one of them would start accepting my insurance in the mean time and call me back. Dr. Vache's office was one of those places, she had incredibly kind people who worked for her and saw that I had called several times in a span of 5 months. The front desk staff would call to check on me since they knew I was not receiving treatment. It was during one of these calls that they realized I was not aware that McCall worked for them (at the time, she is now on her own) and could see me at a reduced rate of what the Doctor could. I will not lie, I was hesitant. But, I had been on wait lists all around Austin trying to find a good and reputable place that took my insurance for too long. I was physically and emotionally worn out from white-knuckling through each and every day for the past 5 or more months. I thought McCall was a student in training or something, but of course I couldn't have been more wrong. McCall has excellent credentials, has years of experience, and truly listens to what you say you feel is happening and what you hope to accomplish. She did not give me any medicine until we ran some tests. She helped me find a place that would run the tests and accept my insurance - EEGs are pricey on their own. While we waited on test results, she encouraged me to try some major changes in my diet and she was 100% right - it was a huge help. Just changing my diet helped how I felt in major ways. She continually encourages me to stay away from some medicines and approves others. We do a lot of work with diet, exercise, vitamins/supplements, and then incredibly low doses of medicine. Note: Obviously if she felt I needed stronger doses or I felt I needed stronger doses of a medicine, she would work with me on that. HOWEVER, she knows my goals, she keeps my goals in mind, and she works with me on ways to achieve those goals. Now, while I still struggle with depression and anxiety (I have for over 10 years) for the first time in a very long time I feel like I have someone in my corner medically who understands what is going on with me not only physically, but mentally as well. I have started feeling so much better, she helped me find a therapist who I love and trust. Without her I have no idea where I would be, truly. She cares for me, as I am sure she does for all her patients, and I recommend without hesitation that you give her call.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Simone Scumpia and her team. As someone who has…read morelived with Type 2 diabetes for many years, I've learned that diabetes affects so much more than blood sugar. It impacts your heart, blood vessels, kidneys, liver, and nearly every major system in your body. Dr. Scumpia truly understands that. What sets her apart is how incredibly thorough she is. She doesn't just treat diabetes--she treats the whole person. She ordered comprehensive testing, including a FibroScan to evaluate my liver, a carotid artery ultrasound to assess my vascular health, extensive blood work, and a coronary calcium scan to evaluate my heart. She looks for problems before they become major issues and takes a preventive approach to medicine. Because of her thoroughness, I now have a much clearer understanding of my overall health and what I can do to reduce my future risk. Dr. Scumpia is also very direct and to the point. She takes her work seriously, and I appreciate that. I understand that her straightforward approach may not be for everyone, but for me, it's exactly what I want in a physician. I'm not looking to spend hours in a doctor's office making small talk. I want a doctor who is focused, knowledgeable, honest, and committed to helping me improve my health. Dr. Scumpia explains what needs to be done, answers my questions, and gets straight to the point while providing exceptional care. What I appreciate most is that she doesn't stop at managing blood sugar. She recognizes that diabetes can affect nearly every major organ and system in the body, and she makes sure those areas are evaluated instead of assuming everything is fine. That level of care gives me tremendous confidence that nothing important is being overlooked. Thank you, Dr. Scumpia, for caring enough to look one step ahead instead of waiting for problems to develop. Your thoroughness, expertise, and commitment to preventive medicine have given me confidence that I am doing everything possible to live a longer, healthier life. I am truly grateful to have you as my endocrinologist and wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone looking for an exceptional physician who is knowledgeable, thorough, efficient, and genuinely invested in helping her patients achieve their best health.

She put me on GLP1s, scheduled me with their Health Coach and washed her hands of me. I never saw her again. 6 months later, the 2nd ultrasound revealed there was never a nodule and that it was just a vein. Scumpia never reached out to me. Rhonda at the front desk stated more than once that they would only collect the $250 fee when I saw Scumpia. They collected it each and every time I went to that office, and Rhonda denied ever saying the Health Coach wouldn't have the fee. I moved over to MyBSW because I stopped trusting the care Scumpia offers at this office. ALL Health Coach appointments are FREE through them. Additionally, Scumpia's office inactivated my portal access when I canceled the continued care for GLP1s (not endocronology) so now all the tests they have on file are hidden. Avoid this office at all costs. You'll be put through the ringer and charged for no reason.
