Dr Lloyd my experience with your office has been a huge disappointment. Not only are your prices high and unreasonable but transparency and proper office procedures are nonexistent. As I stated to your staff, I have called and compared your charges with other Vets and by no means are your charges competitive. When I first contacted your office for a spay I specifically asked if my voucher fully covered the procedure and was assured that it was. (The Humane Society had warned some vets did not). A few days before the procedure I was unexpectedly called out of town and the voucher was set to expire. Before leaving I called your office asking if it would be okay to have a friend drop off and pick up my pet. During the conversation it was not mentioned that a form AGREEING TO $400.00 IN ADDITIONAL CHARGES majority of which UNRELATED to the spay would need to be signed. When my friend dropped off my pet out of no where he was told to sign a form. Not fully understanding he signed, but he did reiterate that all I wanted was the spay. This form should've been signed by me, the Pet's Owner, the person responsible for the bill. Also, why wasn't this form reviewed with me at my pet's pre-spay appointment? I will continue to share your Outrageous bill with family, friends, neighbors and with other Vets in the area and let them be the judge of what type of business you run. Dr. Lloyd and the entire staff at Live Oak are absolutely wonderful. Our beloved cat was very sick with cancer and they were all so kind and helpful during such a tough time in our little girl's life. They were so patient with my many calls and questions during the course of our baby's illness and really went the extra mile for us at every opportunity. Unfortunately, our little girl didn't make it, but it was such a comfort knowing she had such good caretakers, and Dr. Lloyd was even there when the day finally came to help her cross the rainbow bridge. It's so hard finding people we can trust with our little family members, but these guys are it. I continue to be thankful for this team and would recommend them every time. It should be noted that our little girl could be very nervous around strangers and they handled her with care and patience. read more

Dr. Lloyd and her staff are amazing!! During the scary times of the COVID-19 virus, we recently had to bring our older cat in for a necessary visit. The staff met my husband at the car and took our sweet kitty inside. We were reassured our cat was being loved and comforted in our absence through the numerous phone calls they made to us while she was inside being examined. That was yesterday. Today, Dr. Lloyd called me to discuss our cat's blood work and recommend a plan and treatment in addition to what we discussed yesterday. I couldn't be more impressed with the professionalism and personalized care we've received in a time when emotions can be so high. I had been pretty traumatized by the vet I went to about my elderly cat being sick. I looked for somewhere else to go, and my fiancé explained the situation with the staff. We got an appointment in just a few hours from our call. The staff was very warm and friendly. They knew of our previous trauma from our newly ex-vet, so they were extra considerate to make sure we and my cat were as comfortable as possible and checked in often to reassure us. We were able to turn our fear and anxiety down a bit. I felt comfortable with them handling my baby. They brought a cute pink blanket to wrap her in to take her into the back. Truly they are wonderful. I can at least say they have extended my time with the love of my life/soulmate by at least one night so far, and have her as comfortable as they can. Hopefully, they can help us have many more nights when her blood comes back. Thank You to everyone who was on staff today. It felt good to feel cared for. We LOVE Live Oak and Dr. Lloyd! I took our Welsh Terrier, Noki, to Live Oak a couple of years ago when she was having skin issues when we were at Atlantic Beach for the summer (referred by another Welsh owner) and we were so impressed by the attention and care received there. We live in FL 8 months of the year, but summer at Atlantic Beach and will be at there permanently in a few years; we have Dr. Lloyd (she's the BEST) as our regular vet now, coordinating Noki's checkups and wellness care with our trips to NC from FL. Susan and her entire staff take excellent care of our three dogs as well as explaining things to you in a way we can better understand what is going on. The office and exam rooms are clean. We were on vacation at Harkers Island when our Diesel became extremely ill. As my dogs are my children I wanted the best emergency care I could find. After several unfortunate reviews of some closer places to us, we came across Live Oak Animal Hospital. My boyfriend called and spoke with the receptionist and an appointment was scheduled later that day for 3 because the vet had a couple procedures to do that morning. Not even an hour later we received a call that said the vet wanted to see us now and to come as soon as we could. This meant she pushed her other procedures back JUST SO SHE COULD SEE US IMMEDIATELY. That was extremely impressive to me. When we arrived you could see the despair on my face and he vet as well as the staff were so kind and helped put my mind at ease, as Diesel has never been sick like this before. After going into our room and filling out paperwork the vet was in the room with us within 5 minutes(SHORTEST WAIT TIME EVER!). She immediately took control of the situation without making me feel ridiculous or shutting me out. She was very personable, relatable, and discussed things with me so that I understood what she was talking about. Our entire visit lasted around 2 hours and by the time we left I could already tell Diesel was feeling a little better. The price was extremely reasonable for an emergency visit and all the things that D needed done. We are so thankful to have come across this wonderful family at Live Oak and will continue to use them as our vet needs when we are at the beach! Best veterinarian care . Very accommodating for my 224 lb mastiff who is fearful around people. Extremely knowledgeable about all pets . Had a huge tumor removed from my guinie pig . Found some problems with my mastiff and fixed him right up . Great prices. They have like health care packages for shots and vaccines that are a great deal. The doctor is awesome. The facility itself is nice but the staff and the doctor is RUDE! Went in for a routine check up for my 2 dogs, they clipped thier nails did thier fecal exams..1 dog had gotten round worms which she did't even take the time to explain what they were or what they did the doctor pretty much just blamed everything that was wrong with the dog on me. Not even taking the time to know that i had just rescued the dog!At the end of the visit she just sent me to the front desk where i was told my bill would be $695.00!!! for 2 boxes of heartgard a nail clipping that they did not inform me would cost $12, wormer for the round worms was $300 and a bunch of other things that no body had previously explained the costs or what i was supposed to do with! Then i was told i had to pay the entire bill that day. There was no way that i could have done this. So in front of an entire waiting room of people i had to tell the lady at the front desk that i couldnt pay it all today so she gave me 2 doses of the heartworm pill and 1 of the de wormers so that it was an amount that i could pay. I have never been so embarrassed in my life! I will NEVER go back to the place! read more
