We have a large group that frequent Orfila Winery in Escondido every Wednesday. We stumbled upon Trivia night on Thursday a little over a year ago and have gladly incorporated it into our schedule. The venue is beautiful and inviting, the wine is great but the addition of Trivia has absolutely been the cherry on top. Elizabeth from Live Prize Trivia is an absolute joy, always enthusiastic and engaging. Orfila Winery provides generous prizes for the top 3 teams. Wine of course, which is why we all were there for Wine Wednesday get togethers in the first place. Now we can add Thoughtful Thursday to our gatherings calendar. read more

I had been to a few Live Prize Trivia nights around town from time to time. During this COVID 19 we created a team with some friends over Zoom and have been playing online with both hosts Morgan Wisbey and Rick a few times a week. To be honest it really gives us something to look forward to instead of heading into deep depression mode. The hosts have good senses of humor that help us all have a needed laugh. Started playing this past summer once a month up at Orfila Winery in Escondido. BEST IDEA EVER!! I have friends come from all over San Diego to join in playing...all the way from La Mesa to La Jolla to Carlsbad! We all LOVE the Team Trivia night! Our team has only won the trophy once, but regardless of where we place, we all have a BLAST! Liz and Lexi are GREAT hosts! And the gang at Orfila are great! What a great venue, especially in the summer! Being only once a month, it becomes a 'special occasion' that we all look forward to. They're wonderful enough to let you bring in outside food, so long as you buy the wine & other beverages from the tasting room. So we all look forward to our 'potlucks'. This next time we are going with a Chinese Food theme! I've even considered hitting some of the other Live Prize Trivia nights at other venues...but my team and I just LOVE the monthly night out at Orfila!! We get to play out in the tent they use on the patio for weddings and it's all lite up beautifully at night! I just hope this review doesn't bring in too many more teams to have to beat! read more

Narrow range of questions. The focus on 1990s TV shows and human anatomy is eccentric and a put off. Definitely catered to a narrow cliqueish audience. The same teams dominate this pseudo-trivia mutual admiration society. Also, the sponsor seems to think she is doing people a huge favor by letting them spend money in overly drawn out competitions with her arbitrary rules. read more

We go to Tilted Kilt, downtown on Wed nites but want to start going to another one on another day of the week. Downtown parking sucks so unless you live there, it's difficult. Best trivia ever! I have never had such a boner-inducing experience like the one I have with Live Prize Trivia. Not only is it a thinking game, but a drinking game that is fun for the whole family. The number of points each team earns turns into a number of drinks that they may pass onto another team. The entire experience is extremely welcoming not only to the teams that show up every week, but to all newcomers. Laughter is highly infectious and spread around the bar like HIV in Africa. However, what makes this experience orgasmic is the host of the game. Not only does he make hilarious dick and fart jokes and play awesome music, but he is not bad to look at either. Nothing ruins my trivia experience more than having a morbidly obese ogre for a host. Although he has a difficult time with simple addition and a slight speech impediment, you cannot have all the brains with all of that beauty. The questions range from extremely simple to extremely obscure. For the most part, the questions pertain to all age groups. I have probably learned more from this trivia experience than I ever did attending my high school history classes. However, in order to correctly answer some of the TV questions, you would have to either be an elderly person or have watched TV your entire life without leaving the house. Overall, Live Prize Trivia is a great time. It has taken my mundane Monday nights and completely transformed them into an exhilarating experience that auto-erotic asphyxiation cannot match. I recently moved to San Diego and have been dying to explore the night life in Hillcrest. I finally made it to Urban Mo's and it happened to be trivia night--their new Monday gig! I got their around 7:30pm on Monday and it was relatively full. I was by myself and wanted to scope it out. Jesus was the trivia host from Live Prize Trivia and explained it was their first night in a new installment of Monday night trivia at Urban Mo's. Jesus was friendly, funny and approachable and I appreciate the fact that he even "invited" me to play trivia even though I was alone. The questions weren't extremely hard and I'm typically horrible at trivia. The DJ played 90s music which I loved and sang every lyric to! I ended up getting a friend to join me and we had a blast! The place started getting PACKED with all the diverse hotties of Hillcrest. Everyone was extremely friendly and genuinely having a good time. I loved the vibe and I'm glad they added Monday night trivia at Urban Mo's. We left around 10pm. On the bike ride home I noticed not very many establishments were as full as Urban Mo's. In the words of 311, "Don't stay home this time!" and I'm glad I made it out. I will definitely be back and I will also check out the other Live Prize Trivia nights/locations. Be a good sport! Usually these trivia nights are great. However tonight was not great. We were at Sycamore Den and the question was "what two Shakespearean comedies start with the letter A?" We answered with As You Like It and A Midsummer Nights Dream. After we turned in our answers, the trivia person read the correct answers, which turned out to be As You Like It and All's Well That Ends Well. Woah woah woah wait. I know what you're thinking, yes A Midsummer Nights Dream IS a comedy. We thought the same thing. We were pretty annoyed that we had the right answers but we didn't get the credit for it (especially since there was bonus points on the line). We went up to tell them that A Midsummer Nights Dream should count. They replied with "it's not a comedy", except that it absolutely is. So we told them that it IS a comedy. So then they relented and said "well, we don't count it because it starts with just the word A and not a word that starts with A". Not cool. So there's fine print for your questions? We're supposed to just read your mind about what made up rule your opinion says applies? This isn't about points or trivia, it's about a rude person who was called on their mistake and they chose to make us the wrong ones. If you make a mistake, own up to it. If someone can answer your trivia question better than you can, don't make up a rule to make them wrong. We won't be returning for trivia anymore. Not to try and be turds about it but just that now we know the human element is too present and it's not gonna be fun wondering if our answers will count. There's enough trivia elsewhere. read more
